A Taste of Hallandale Beach Florida My wife and I were visiting my brother in Hollywood, Florida, all the way from California. Since we had only a short time there, we wanted to experience as much of the local food culture as possible. As we met and talked with locals, one place kept coming up: Fresh and Wild. So, naturally, we had to check it out. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a gentleman who I believe was the owner. We then met the chef, a young woman who clearly knows her way around the kitchen, and her brother, who seemed to be the true "Jack of all trades," making sure everything was running smoothly. The chef took our order: Peruvian fish, black beans and rice, along with a sushi roll. And let me tell you... WOW! The food was sooooo good fresh, flavorful and absolutely delicious. My wife and I literally sat there shaking our heads in amazement at how good everything was. To the entire Fresh and Wild family, thank you for making two visitors from California feel right at home while serving up some incredible food. Your hospitality and the love you put into what you do definitely didn't go unnoticed. If you're in Hallandale Beach area do yourself a favor and check out Fresh and Wild. Excellent fresh seafood with a family owned flair. Highly recommend. After a long day of meetings, my colleague wanted to get some fresh seafood while waiting for traffic to subside. Not familiar familiar with the area, we looked up fresh seafood in the area with Fresh & Wild appearing at the top of our search. To be clear, aesthetically it looks like a mom and Pops establishment more than a fancy restaurant. We are only concerned with how good the food and service services. We love, mom and Pops restaurants. It is a little hot and there's not a lot of indoor seating, luckily we found a table for two. For starters, we are the croquette which I never had before and they were very tasty. I personally ordered six oysters. They were fantastic. Very fresh. As for dinner, I ordered the blackened flounder fillet with side of rice and beans and fresh broccoli.. the blackened fillet was cooked perfectly and very tasteful. The broccoli was indeed freshly steamed, and the rice and beans were really good. I never had beans that had some form of salsa in it. The food was plenty and I was very full. The service was excellent. They had a lot of takeout orders also. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for good seafood with great service. read more

We came here for the stone crab and found that they also have a restaurant. We ended up coming here twice while we were in town. We ordered their sushi and fried fish. Everything was amazing and extremely fresh. The service is amazing. AJ is very personable and is a great sushi chef. There are a few tables inside and a huge covered seating area. We visited this establishment after finding it online while searching for seafood restaurants in the Hollywood area, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. The exterior had visible trash and debris scattered all over the frontage and parking lot, a poor first impression for a restaurant. Inside, there was an extremely strong fish odor that made the dining space uncomfortable. While some fish smell is expected in a seafood market, it was quite overpowering for a place serving meals. We chose to sit outside, but the outdoor seating area appeared disorganized. Tables and chairs were scattered, the tablecloths looked dirty, and the floor was wet from what appeared to be a spilled drink that hadn't been cleaned up. There was no host stand and no greeting from anyone when we arrived, so it wasn't clear if it was self seating or hosted. we couldn't tell employees from the customers. Eventually someone told us we could sit anywhere. The staff member who assisted us was friendly, but he didn't seem very familiar with the menu when we asked about the differences between the fish options. We were also told they were out of sugar-free beverages and there was no beverage menu available. With some attention to cleanliness and organization, this place could likely offer a much better dining experience. The place seemed better suited as a seafood market rather than a restaurant, so we ultimately decided to leave and dine elsewhere. We hope the management takes note of these issues, as with some improvements this could be a much more enjoyable dining experience. read more

It's a seafood market with some tables for dining and a tiki bar outside. We started with shrimp croquettes which were great. We ordered grouper filets, one fried and one grilled. Both came with perfectly cooked fries- honestly some of the best fries I've ever had. I had rice and beans while my girl had fried plantains. Fish was ok, fries were good. Calamari was from Sysco. They were out of half of the menu even though it was early on a Friday. No one was there and the service was terrible so that was strange. I think their friends must have given the great reviews or the fact that they are asking for a 5 star review but it is at best a 3 star place for now. read more

What an incredible find right off of Hallandale Beach Blvd. My family and I were in the mood for seafood today so we tried this restaurant out. From the moment we arrived, the owners were extremely inviting and took their time explaining the menu. We ended up ordering the Key West shrimp, Mahi Mahi, the fried cod and the crab cakes. My wife is the most critical of food, fish especially, not prepared well or not fresh. Our son is the same way. Over the weekend they and me were blown away. Calamari ( done with their spin), oysters, whole red snapper, pompano and mahi mahi. All perfect. It's relatively new in its location so it's still developing but the seafood is awesome. I found this new , impeccably clean seafood market near me selling extremely FRESH fish and shellfish . The yellowtail snapper , red snapper , red and black grouper , salmon , mahi , ahi tuna , shrimps , shellfish and anchovies from Spain are all wild caught and were some of freshest seafood items I've ever eaten . The owner also makes fresh ceviche and is as good as the ceviche I've eaten in the Canta Rana restaurant in the Barranco neighborhood of Lima , Peru. The prices are reasonable and lower than the area's other seafood markets or grocery store seafood departments. If you want wild caught seafood this is the place to shop in the south Broward / north Dade area. read more

It is hard to find really fresh seafood in any city. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and moderate prices at this store. I was also surprised and grateful by the take home preparation which included vacuum packing for the fish and ice packets to keep your order cold. I would recommend to anyone. read more

the fish is old and stinks. the fish is often lacquered, it doesn't have a red color like fresh from the sea. I don't think they sell fresh fish. An inspector should go so they can see the smelly fish, I'm not going back when I come to the city. read more
