We had ordered Thai iced tea, the beef chow fun, potstickers, bbq pork appetizer, and the string bean chicken. Here's a breakdown of what I thought of each of the dishes: - You can never go wrong with a Thai Iced tea. This hit the spot, was refreshing, and was the perfect thing to sip on whilst waiting for our food. - The potstickers were okay. They were definitely lacking a dipping sauce, which I think would've balanced the dish out perfectly! - I really enjoyed the bbq pork! It was slightly on the dry side, but I didn't mind. (I tend to like meat on the dryer side for some odd reason). I think this dish, with a side of fried of rice would be spectacular together! - The Beef Chow Fun was my favorite of the items we ordered. The noodles & accoutrements were seasoned beautifully and the beef was tender and delicious. - The string bean chicken was also yummy! The string beans were cooked to perfection! However, my only critique of this dish is that there was not enough chicken and the chicken bits were a tad smaller than I had expected them to be. I definitely want to come back here and try more of the menu items! I'm eyeing the braised beef noodle soup, the pan fried noodles, the orange chicken, and the spare ribs for next time... YUMMY! Overall, what's not to love about Canaan Chinese Cuisine? The food is DELICIOUS, the portions are large, the location is great, and the overall experience is fantastic! I highly recommend this spot to any folks that are in the area looking for a solid Chinese/Taiwanese foodie experience!

The fried chicken was a crowd favorite, and anything with flower pepper really stood out with bold, numbing flavor. I should've taken this gesture immediately as an unwillingness to seating us. I responded with no, party for 2, and another lady comes running over and says "but we close at 9" in which I responded, I'm well aware, but can we still order? they both responded with yes so i said okay can we seat? in which she responded with again, "but we close at 9." really not sure what's up with the people running this restaurant, but if you don't want the business or if you just want to close earlier, then do that. there are plenty of sichuan places in the SGV (and quite honestly probably better tasting) than this place. take your business elsewhere. PS - also seeing recent yelp reviews about trending terrible service, please just run from this place. if they don't want your business, don't force your time and money down their throats. i'm not interested in eating bloody chicken anyways.

My husband and I decided to have lunch there the other day. The menu is extensive! They offer a Lunch Special 7 days a week from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. It is served with Egg Flower or Hot & Sour Soup, an Egg Roll, and Fried or White Rice. We opted not to order the Lunch Special this time. Instead, we ordered Chicken Chow Mein and Salt & Pepper Fish. The Chicken Chow Mein was so tasty and delicious. The Salt & Pepper Fish was good but a little too salty for our tastes. I asked the server if they offer Chicken Chow Mein with vegetables. She said they can customize it and provide our choice of vegetables or they can use their standard vegetables. The server actually boxed up our leftovers for us, which was really nice. Their food was so good that we went back a few days later. This time, we ordered Chicken Chow Mein with vegetables. The vegetables used in this dish were snow peas, broccoli, bok choy, carrots, zucchini, and cabbage. It was even better with vegetables! We also ordered Chicken in Black Bean Sauce, and Steamed Fish. We really liked the Chicken in Black Bean Sauce. However, it comes with a lot of bell peppers. I don't care for bell peppers so I'll order it without next time. The Steamed Fish came with a little broccoli and very thinly sliced fresh ginger. We really enjoyed our second visit to this restaurant! Our entrees were served incredibly fast! We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu soon. However, we will ALWAYS order Chow Mein with vegetables! I highly recommend trying this restaurant whenever you are craving Chinese food! You won't be sorry! And, this is coming from a Chinese girl!

Took yelp's recommendations and shared a salt + pep fish with my mother who is not a big fan of fish dishes!! She loved it!! Incredibly clean tasting fish, moist meat and light, crispy batter. As a food service veteran, it's easy to taste if the frying oil is clean. The fried onions + chilies on top were so yummy alone. Wahoo!!! I look forward to coming back and trying the salt + pepper shrimp, as I heard their seafood plates are King!!!! Thanks Venus

Upon arriving, we were immediately seated, and there were plenty of tables available, too. Each table has a QR code you can scan to order, which was very convenient. The menu also includes pictures, so you know exactly what to expect. Our food came out really quickly--great service! As far as food goes, here's the breakdown: String beans: Garlic-heavy (in a good way). Very solid, though I've had better. Shrimp egg fried rice: So delicious! Great portions. Not too salty, and very flavorful. I would reorder this. Xiao long bao: Also good. The wrapper isn't too thick, and the flavor of the broth is light and savory. I would reorder this. Salt and pepper shrimp: I didn't try this, but my parents really liked it. Pork chop: Good flavoring, though it wasn't as crispy as I was hoping for. Chicken pan-fried buns: A little too doughy. The meat was very juicy and flavorful, though. I wish the bottom was crispier. I'd probably skip this. Sesame noodles: So delicious!!! Might be my favorite dish here. The sauce is so thick, and the noodles have the perfect chew. Since it's so heavy, you might get flavor fatigue on its own, though. Highly recommend eating it with other items as well. I would definitely reorder this! The parking is easy, the bathrooms are clean, and the service was very hospitable! They even pack your to-go boxes for you. The owner (probably?) was very nice, checking up and greeting us throughout our dining experience. Thank you for welcoming us to your restaurant!

Egg Drop Soup (Free): It's boiled water, egg, and cornstarch. Idk if they even salted it. They might have. It doesn't matter, it's free. They took it away before we could finish the pot. Peking Style Pork Chop: It's good. I will gladly spend $13 for this. You get the signature sauce that's sweet, salty, and just generally good. I can recommend this 100%. Curry Beef Stew: Another above average option for the price point. Not too spicy, tender beef brisket, at a respectable portion size. No complaints from my end. Seafood Tofu: The worst of the bunch. Bland tofu, bland seafood, and the sauce didn't really do anything. I'd skip this. Ambiance: Starter Chinese restaurant trying to be serious. Tablecloth, tables that seat 4-8, at a decent size. Service: It's a Chinese restaurant, expect nothing, and you won't be disappointed.

After we started to skim the menu, I noticed that most of the menu items did not have pricing information clearly displayed. Since we were a large party, we decided to order the dinner package. At least that had a pricing displayed. Once the food arrived, it was extremely bland. Not only that but this was the most I've paid for mid-tier Chinese food in a while. Since when did Chinese food get so pricey? Pan fried noodles were ok, walnut shrimp was good, pork chops were decent but everything else was mid! Oh and those sodas are about $7,xx bux each so stick to hot tea. Also, they wrote in a suggested tip amount and underlined 16% but probably charged the 18%. It's also calculated after tax. It's supposed to be calculated based on pre-tax. I didn't want to fuss over the bill while the server stood over me. This will probably be the last time I step foot in this place. Not worth the price point at all.
