Yum! Just moved to the area and coming from California so craving sushi SO hard. I did some searching for reviews myself to find this place. It's located in a small Redner's shopping center so there's plenty of open lot parking but also a decent flow of traffic. My husband and I went around 11:30 and we were the only people there. By time we were asking for the check, not a single seat was empty so it does fill up! I ordered the lunch special which was 2 rolls for $11.99 and I ordered a specialty roll. I got the California, Shrimp Tempura, and Crunchy tiger roll. The Lunch special came with miso soup which was hot, flavorful, and delicious. My husband got the pork fried rice and pepper chicken. I didn't taste it but it did look great and my husband enjoyed his food. He's a huge lover of pork fried rice in particular and naturally very picky so, if he says it was good, then I believe him! The staff was nice and quick and efficient. Will come back here for my sushi fix!

Good quality ingredients and well prepared food. If you like spicy, you will definitely need to request your dishes as hot or extra hot. Even when I order Szechuan Chicken extra spicy, the dish is mild (for my taste at least) and does not have any visible chilly peppers in the dish. Overall, great quality food and flavor, just wish the food was a bit spicier. Recommended dishes: Szechuan chicken, teriyaki chicken

Great service and great food for great prices! First time at Rice and tried out their Naruto Roll (cause it's Naruto so why not?) which was great. Different fish in one roll for a crazy burst of fish flavors from each roll. The Tempura Box (got shirmp) was surprisingly good and just a right amount of everything to fill you up. Tempura was done well, as well as the rest of the box dishes. Service was great and fast and we never ran out of drinks or had to ask for more (which is an A+ if you know the feeling). Highly recommended to try out, you won't be disappointed.

Always a good vibe when dining here at Rice. Staff always on point, service is great!

This was my second visit at this restaurant. Both times I did take out. I ordered wonton soup (big) and chicken schezwan. The wonton soup was very nice and the broth was delicious. There were 9 dumpling pieces in the soup. You can ask for spicy sauce to add a bit of heat to the soup. The chicken schezwan was a bit greasy and tad bit salty. Was not very impressed. It came along with a side of rice. I've had better. The place serves a variety of sushi rolls as well. They have a live chefs table. It's a small pleasant ace to done in. May be come on a date night. The staff was very friendly. I will come here again only for its wonton soup. Very tasty. Will try sushi rolls next time.

Quite a rude welcome from the front desk. My son, who is 15, and I went in and the greeting he got was "YES!!??" No "good morning", no "Hi, how are you?" The second question this rude man asked my son was, "You know what you want?" Not even "would you like to see our menu?" Yes my son is young and doesn't impress one as rich but this rude host should afford him with the same level of respect and courtesy that he gave to the other adult customers that came after us. This host/greeter (in his 40s and wore a gray baseball cap surely needs training on demeanor, customer appreciation and common courtesy, whether they are teens or adults, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, etc. My son ordered $77. worth of food; he surely didn't deserve that marginalizing, dismissive behavior from Rice's host.

My family is visiting from out of town. There are 7 of us total, ranging in age from 2 to 73. Needless to say, there were a couple of cautious members in the group who claim to be grossed out by sushi. (Umm...yeah, I don't get that, either.) I quickly reminded them there's more than sushi here...a lot more! We didn't make a reservation but, despite a good crowd of patrons, we were seated within 10 minutes. Everyone seemed pleased with their dinners. The beef rolls with scallions inside was a great appetizer! Bathrooms we're clean. Just wish they would have had something -- anything -- for the 2yo to eat. read more

Excellent service and delicious high quality sushi and sashimi! Was with 8 friends, we got a variety of dishes. The server was friendly and knowledgable and service was quick and not intrusive, good timing. I got the sashimi platter, the fish was buttery creamy excellent textures and edamame good. Best roll was the tiger roll, everyone's favorite. Danny was a good server, even recommended some food that people liked, adding a whole peanut to some veggie rolls, mixing saki with other stuff. I and my wife decided late to go for a dinner date, so we reached 9:30 pm on a sunday night, almost half n hour before the closing time. The staff told that food is available to go only and cannot dine in, which i found the staff quite inhospitable, as the restaurant closes at 10. Decided to take away the food and ordered golden roll and veg fried rice. The food was ok ok and the golden roll(mango shrimp roll) didnt please my eyes. May be prepared half-heartedly. Fried rice were ok too but better than other chinese or japanese restaurants. Few options for vegetarians too. Will try to reach on time some other day and try some more options too. read more

My husband and I are kind of self-proclaimed food snobs from San Francisco (i wasn't always like this, he's a Chef, so I blame him!). The reviews were so confusing. Everything from one star to five, it was impossible to know what to expect. I'm here to set the record straight. It's in a strip mall, I become a little worried. It's empty on a Saturday night, I'm more worried. We ordered steamed pork gyoza, delicious. I ordered a pork egg roll, amazing! I'm not sure there was pork in it, but it was fantastic anyway. Vegetable tempura was so tasty! I wish i had taken pictures. I got a small bowl of wonton soup (it had FIVE wontons!). Couple of rolls were next. I didn't know there would be a spicy sauce on mine so I had to send it back. I felt terrible but they remade it and it was exactly how I expected it to be. Sesame chicken was our last dish. It was truly gorgeous, again, wishing I had pics. ANYWAY, this is getting long. But just go. You won't be sorry. Peace out Dover! read more

It is such a shame that a place that has good Chinese cannot handle their deliveries. Walked in to pick up a take order (mine you we live 20 minutes away) and they gave us a completely wrong order. We get home and call. They REFUSE to give us a full credit unless we drive 20 minutes back there. They said it happens and not their problem. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! Plus a waste of $50! Never again. read more

I have loved Rice since the first time we stumbled upon it several years ago when no one knew about it and you almost had the restaurant to yourself! In our town we have an abundance of fast food/chain type restaurants, more known for the quantity of food rather than the quality. At first taste, I realized this was different, everything was fresh and flavor-filled, not overdone. The interior is quite small, maybe 15 tables with also seating for about six at the sushi bar which is front and center. The seating is very tight and the room small so this is probably why other reviewers do not recommend it for small children. Take out service is good too, had it last night, all packed well. read more

Nice restaurant. Ate here on a Wednesday at 5:45. Cozy. Not crowded. Ordered the Crunchy Tiger Roll. It was on the salty side, but tasted pretty good. 3/5. Loved the Miso soup and the Seaweed Salad. We will be back to sample more of the menu. read more

Rice..... Best Sushi place I've been to so far in the capital of Dover. Very fresh & clean with great presentation, The staff is very friendly and patient. If you love shrimp, I highly recommend the Shrimp Lovers. Great Lunch specials that are greatly priced, If you want a Sushi there's a special or that or if you just want regular Chinese/Japanese food. Great spot read more

Love this place! Besides the fact that I'm not crazy about it being located in the GreenTree Shopping Center... I am always very satisifed with the customer service, appearance and taste of anything that I order. It seems that no matter how complex of an order that I give them they always pay extra attention and get everything right down to the extra condiments that I ask for. The atmosphere reminds me of a trendy hot spot in New York that I also like. Even though it's small I still a bit Sex and the Cityish whenever I go there. Prices are great and tonight tI asked them to make me something that wasn't on the menu...they gladly obliged and it was absolutely delicious. I tried getting this kind of treatment at Hibachi on Saturday night and it was a disaster. Okay, enough rambling. I love Rice and it's my favorite Asian Restaurant in the area. read more

If you are craving sushi, this isn't the place to go to. I don't like the vibe and they aren't as great as Yukon/Chaiyo. It's much cheaper but not worth it! Only upside is their shrimp tempura roll. Price: 4/5 Quality: 2.5/5 Vibe/Experience: 2/5 Food: 3/5 read more

I go to rice about twice a month. They have carry out service which is nice. Like their selection of rolls and their entires are average. I like the small dinning room, but on a Friday night or Saturday the wait can be a bit long. Their alcohol selection could be a little larger. read more

Sushi is good, and it's fairly priced. I like that they have a range of special rolls to keep things interesting. They also have the savory brown sauce and tangy orange mayo to cover various deluxe rolls. However, the cooked Japanese food and basically the entire Chinese food menu leave much to be desired. The entrees are overpriced for what they are, with relatively small portions by American standards. Also the quality of the food is just nothing special. I have been here several times at the insistence of others, but I don't come here on my own. It is only marginally better than the cheap, dingy take out Chinese places in the other local strip malls. Come here for if you need a sushi fix in Dover. read more

I drive to try/get food and that's actually what I did for Rice. Delaware state patrol can't stop me from my curiosity and hunger to drive to Rice. Rice is an Asian fusion of Chinese and Japanese food. You have an option to get white or brown rice even in your sushi rolls and sashimi. It's clean and the staff is catering. The facility is small, nicely decorated in an intimate settings, perfect for couples on a date or few friends. read more

The food was horrible. We love sushi however we were completely disappointed with this place. The sushi rolls were not wrapped tight which made them fall apart. The beef teriyaki was watery and tasteless. My wife shrimp was tasteless. The food took forever to come out. We will not be back. read more

My friend just inadvertently took a paper cup with about-1/6-left-coke into the restaurant, and she directly told us with a loud voice "Here it is not allowed. Please!" Sushi is okay, and wait staff is okay. Nothing spectacular, if you think this is the best sushi in Dover you haven't found chaiyo right around the corner! Also, I once ordered the banana tempura dessert and they put honey mustard on the banana!! I told the waitress, hey I think they accidentally put the wrong sauce and all she said was that's how we do it here. Seriously?! Got charged for it and it was dealt with horribly. I dislike bashing restaurants but hey Yelp is supposed to help spread the good, bad and the ugly. read more

Ordered "to-go" because of the weather but good thing because the restaurant was PACKED for those "dining in" the shrimp and broccoli was AMAZING as well as the Chicken lo mein. My boyfriend loved his general tsos chicken but expected a little more from the shrimp fried rice. Overall thoroughly pleased and will definitely be going back if we ever travel here again. read more

I was happy to have discovered this local restaurant that uses quality ingredients for a nice…read moredinner out when I was searching for an alternative to the booked up Wardroom (and Bas Rouge was more than what we wanted to spend that night). For reservations, they don't use any of the popular reservation platforms, so I called their number to schedule a reservation. Fortunately, I was able to make it for the same day- Friday evening, no less! The restaurant is in a house, and they asked me if we were okay with the second floor (bearing in mind there are stairs). There are two rooms on the second floor with a several tables in each, and there were people, so we weren't isolated. There is also a restroom located on the second floor, so you don't have to go down the stairs to use the restroom. We parked across the street in a public parking lot. We received complimentary (warm) bread and butter! You don't see that much anymore. We started off with drinks. I had the Korean spicy margarita, which I loved, and my husband had the strawberry rhubarb cider, which was also good. The menu offers many choices for both appetizers and entrees. We ordered two appetizers- the Asian beef lettuce wraps (3 lettuce wraps- when you're a party of 2 or 4, that number is annoying!) and the short rib ravioli. Both apps were wonderful. For entrees, don't forget the specials. We ordered the soft-shell crab special and also the duo of duck off the entrees menu. The vegetables in both dishes were fresh, and the sauces were complimentary to the mains. Close to being unable to eat any more, but we simply had to close the fantastic dinner with desserts. I ordered the lemon semi-freddo and my husband ordered the flourless chocolate cake, and both passed the taste test. We were pleased with the attentive service, food, and vibes, and would keep this place in mind when we come back to this area!

This was PACKED with actual crab and not a whole lot of cream cheese so the price made more sense when I figured that out. Still very good, but did not stand out amongst the rest. The place was so cool inside, they had about 7-10 bar seats inside with 2 tables outside, I recommend taking this to go. The service was nice and quick, you can tell they have a very efficient process. My only suggestion would be to turn the music down a little bit because it was hard for me and my husband to just talk to each other about plans that we had for the rest of the day. I also tried the ancho chile pork bun. The bun itself tasted amazing,but it was a bit difficult to eat. The bottom got pretty soggy while the top bun was thick and tall, so it kind of fell apart while eating.

I've yet to find a great sushi restaurant in Dover. This place does a fine job at a great price. I can only speak for the sushi, I did not have any of their Chinese dishes. It's an odd concept to me that a Japanese restaurant would serve Chinese dishes or vise versa consider how much those cultures despise one another...but hey where in America. I thought the sushi was good not great. They execute the basics pretty well (spicy tuna, etc) but when it comes to their more complex rolls I found them lacking The service was great. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area whos in the mood for sushi but warn them they won't be blown away. I would give them 3 1/2 but...no half stars on yelp. I'll keep stopping by every so often and if they get better I'll bump up the rating. read more

A friend of mine and I love sushi and she turned me on to Rice. Amazingly, I have lived here ...um, forever and never knew it was there. Best sushi. I finally had the opportunity to try the lunch special and it did not disappoint. APlenty of food, great price point. You should probably know what you want before you get there though, that's not their fault, it's mine. Enjoy! read more
