We ordered here through Grubhub. We ordered Hunan beef but it tastes like beef and broccoli with vegetables. The beef wasn't crispy. It wasn't spicy and the sauce was brown not a red tint that usually would indicate the sweet and spicy. It was more savory like a beef and broccoli. They said it was Human beef but with too much sauce from the chef??? Family around me says it definitely isn't Hunan beef. We also had missing egg rolls we ordered as well. It was an entire wrong order and they couldn't admit that it was incorrect. So, we probably won't be back. read more

I ordered by delivery the BBQ Spare Rib Combo and asked for light sauce on the ribs plus to separate the ribs from the rice in different cartons. When I received my order it was saturated with sauce and on top of the rice. I called the restaurant and spoke to the gentleman explaining what happened, he began to tell me they can not separate the ribs from the rice. I let him know that is not a true statement because I order often and it has been done a few time. They customer savvy is tacky. I want to start out by saying most of the food is very good. The reason for my three stars has less so to do with the food, and more to do with price gouging. I understand restaurants needing to increase their prices with Covid looming above us, for a time last year they closed the restaurant and I understand if the cost of operations, produce and groceries have increased for them. I'm more than willing to support my local restaurants by paying a little more for the experience of eating out or ordering in. But your price increases should be consistent. I ordered a combination platter a little over a month ago, and I like replacing my rice with pork lo mein, as does my family, and we expect it to be an extra cost. The combination platters also cost more than they used to, but I get it. They charged me $2.50 extra to replace the rice with pork lo mein at the time, which was fine. But when they charged my card, it was quite a bit more than I had calculated based on the current prices on their online menu. There was an extra $8 unaccounted for, in addition to the already higher prices. Not including the tip. I shrugged it off though, chalking it up to what was maybe just an error that I didn't feel was worth complaining about. I like them, I like their food. Then today, Im visiting my parents and my Dad decided to place an order for dinner, and we asked to replace the rice with pork lo mein in two of the combination platters. My dad had the phone on speaker, and the girl who took the order seemed a little weird about it, like people don't do that. I do... lol! She finally gets the go ahead, and she tells us it's an extra $2.75. Okay, .25 cents more than a month ago but I can live with it. Then my dad gets a charge on his credit card... and it's again, an extra $6-8 than what we calculated based on their online menu. My dad called to get an itemization, and they ended up charging us $3.75 extra, each, to REPLACE the rice with pork lo mein, after being told $2.75. My dad had even repeated it back to her, I heard her, we all heard $2.75, and she confirmed the $2.75. So why is it $3.75 now? We would've been better off ordering a quart, for almost the same price... why are we paying more for less? There was an extra dollar here and an extra dollar there, my dad was pissed but didn't feel like fighting it, he just said okay, and after hanging up the phone decided he'll just never order from them again. This is how you lose customers. I want to support you, but you have to respect your customers too. And price gouging and making up prices as you go feels kind of like a slap in the face. If you need to increase your prices, increase them, but make it very clear what you're charging for. I don't like sneaky pricing, or nonsensical pricing... like nearly $4 to replace rice with lo mein in a combination platter.... the amount of lo mein in two combination platters is about the same as a pint, so why are you charging us almost the same as a quart, to REPLACE it with another item, that we're NOT getting? Just really disappointed. I'd like to continue to support you, but you have to respect your customers too. read more

I wish I had great things to say about this place but I don't. I was so excited after reading all of the reviews but all I ended up doing was wasting my money. First when you go in it's so dirty. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and helpful however the food was terrible. Though you do get quite a bit of it, however, if you order beef broccoli plan on just receiving broccoli with like 3 or 4 pieces of beef. Plus the beef had this weird taste to it. I hate to say it's past its expiration but there was something off about it. I was excited to try the garlic chicken as it's one of my favorite dishes. So everything looked fresh it tasted like nothing. I was so excited to see the sweet and sour soup but so disappointed with the taste there was nothing sour about it at all and absolutely no spice. Best Chinese food in Dover & they deliver. I eat here once a week. I usually get the chicken wings with shrimp fried rice extra shrimp. The inside is big with a seating area and very clean staff is friendly. The price per portion is perfect. Only thing about this place I don't care for it the ribs they are super sweet if that's your thing for for it also if ordering any veggies like broccoli you will have to tell them well done otherwise it'll be hard as a rock! My experiences with Great China used to be good, but lately they have left a bad taste in my mouth in more ways than one. I've ordered from them for 3 years and in those 3 years they've only made a mistake with my food about 3 times. The most recent 2 times however have been extremely rude and inconsiderate with one of the times having the owner/worker hang up on me when I asked why I was given the wrong order. About a month or so ago my first major problem with Great China happened, and it was pretty bad. They delivered me a Spare Ribs combination with actual strips of metal inside the meal...it was almost as if they had opened a can and part of the metal from actual can was in my food. The store refused to believe me, and made me take a picture of the metal, which I complied with...he then sent a General Tso's Chicken to replace it because I told him, I don't even have a taste for the ribs anymore after seeing the metal in them. They made me return the ribs with the metal as well, even though I had thrown them away after I provided the picture...so I dug in my trash to give the delivery guy the box of food...and that was the first problem. My most recent problem was with an order for my girlfriend and I, and they gave her Shrimp and Brocolli instead of Shrimp Lo Mein that was asked for, I was eventually hung up on and told I was wrong he was right there was no correction going to be made, and he ended the call...so yeah, I would highly recommend going out of Dover to get Chinese food at this rate, they all are getting in trouble for roaches and treating their customers like crap...stay away. read more

How in the world did this restaurant get a rating of 4 stars? This was my first time visiting this place... it is more of a "Take Out" place rather than a "Restaurant ". The fried dumplings were fried on one side and not the other... but, that probably the best item. My husband ordered "steak and papers with white rice. The stark was slimy and the rice had a strange aroma and taste. He ate about 3 bites and left the rest. I ordered " Chicken with Cashews" with white rice. So this was my first time eating Pork Dumplings and OH MY GAWD THEY WERE THE BOMB.COM! I also order the spare ribs combo and a sweet tea. I ordered the Shrimp and Broccoli plate (comes with pork fried rice and a veggie egg roll) with a small size of Fried Gizzards and it was DELICIOUS!!! The food is pretty good, and I'm addicted to the gizzards lolol. It was only $5 for the amount I got, and I'd say that's a DEAL! Absolutely one of my favorite Chinese delivery spots! They're delivery guys are quick and nice, food always is fresh and very hot. My favorite dish from there would be the honey wings, they're so great! I always get extra sauce and they don't mind! The crab Rangoon is incredible, they're huge. This is strictly a take out joint. Owner friendly and accommodating. You would not want to eat in. Obviously food is good due to the reviews. But the place should be inspected by the health department- do not use the single bathroom. There most be better places. Do yourself a favor and go find it. read more

Delivery was early and that's the only good thing about it. Chicken strips were not strips - they were chicken patties fried and sliced. They were fried to a really dark brown and nearly inedible. They were also fried in some pretty old oil - should have been thrown out long ago. The fried scallops were undercooked and cold.
