This is a Chinese restaurant nestled in a small strip mall. There's only about 2 tables inside but I've never seen them used, except to wait for an order. It's a no-frills restaurant with no bath rooms but they have good simple Chinese food...and they are friendly. Prices are about $7 to $14 per person. read more

My family and I decided on Chinese for a quiet night in for New Years. Being new to the area anywhere we chose was going to be a gamble but we definitely lucked out when we found this gem! The restaurant is very minimalist but clean. The order was ready on time for pick up, it was accurate and the person at the counter took the time to make sure we had just the right sauces to accent our meal. This had to be the best Chinese food we've ever had! We're excited to be starting new traditions as we begin a new life in DE and the Jade Garden will be our New Year's Eve take out and any other time we're in the mood for Chinese from here on. read more

Gonna be honest- I originally GPS'd my way to Jade Garden in search of the adjacent pizza place that was closed at lunch time on a Saturday. But alas, between Dollar General and the liquor store, I saw Jade Garden, secretly hiding in plain sight. At first I thought it was a laundromat, only to peer inside and see nothing but a few posters and an ordering window. No furniture, nothing. We'll say they prefer keeping things simple. The staff was surprisingly friendly to me, and the food was dirt cheap. We're talking $5.25 for a full meal of food. And they have three types of imported Chinese soap. This place was genuine. The reason I was surprised at the friendliness was that after taking my order, the woman walked back to her lunch and proceeded to scream incomprehensible Mandarin (or Cantonese I suppose) at the two male kitchen workers. And she sounded angry. After giving me incorrect change, I politely explained the situation and rather than refusing to give me the correct amount like most restaurants, she was very apologetic and friendly. What a sweet lady. Then again with the screaming. The food... well, it was pretty good for a strip mall Chinese food joint in Magnolia, Delaware I suppose. I would rate it higher than any of the chain Chinese places, but then, I really can't stand that stuff. I didn't get sick, so that's a plus. How good can the ingredients be for them to be able to sell it to you for $5 for so much? It tasted fine anyway. So moral of the story: if you need to get your Chinese takeout fix on, and you're there, go for it. You'll survive. read more

My daughter recently got a job nearby and has gone, twice now, to Jade Garden on her lunch break. Last week they accused her of stealing her credit card even when she offered to show identification. They finally allowed her to pay and take her food after much questioning, making her late getting back to work. We kinda laughed it off at the time. She looks young. She just called me, very upset. She went to get lunch and they ran her card 3 times. She showed the owner her bank app and he insisted it didn't go through, despite her showing him the charges. She called me, and I went in and he tried to tell me the same thing. He asked if he could run the card again and, after some hesitation I allowed him. It popped up on the screen "approved", but he, again, insisted it didn't go through. He then ran a report that showed that it did go through...each time. Only then did he agree to refund her money. I'm so angry, I'm shaking. I feel like they tried to take advantage of her because she's young. We've given them business since they opened and I'm really mad. She shouldn't have had to call her mom to come. And he didn't even apologize. I think next time I want Chinese food, I'll be driving a little further for it. read more

I've been going to this take-out place for the better part of 15 years and it used to be good....but not any more. The quality and quantity has dropped while the prices rise. When brought to the owners attention he accuses you of lying. Then he curses you in his language while his staff laughs looking right at you. Checking the food in front of him and showing him and he still calls you a liar. Find another place. This guy doesn't deserve your hard earned money. read more

Working in the restaurant industry, I myself know how annoying it is when customers order right before we close. I placed my order 20 minutes before they closed (unknowingly), and I was greeted with a smile. I went to the happy gas after picking up the food, and got a phone call from jade garden. She laughed and told me I left my dumplings, so I rolled over and she wouldn't even accept a tip. We have been going to this place for years since it's the closest Chinese restaurant around. It will always be my favorite by far! I thought I was biased just because I've been eating food from here my whole life living in Frederica, but I've tried Chinese from a lot of different places and still love this place the most. They have the best general tsos I've had, and also very flavorful lo mein. Everywhere else I've tried, I've been disappointed by the lack of flavor. The only downside is that they have a minimum amount you have to spend in order to use a card to pay, which isn't hard when you're someone like me who buys a few things when going there.
