Very good service and good. Food was served in a timely fashion. They are doing some small construction, so it was a little noisy. I didn't mind the banging but one of the guys was smoking which drifted from outside to dining area, smoke bothers me especially when I'm eating. I would come here again. read more

I love this place. Awesome staff, great menu choices, delicious food, and unbeatable prices. It's always crowded, but the wait is not very long even during the busiest hours. The portions are huge, so my husband and I always have leftovers for next day lol. Taste and freshness have never disappointed. I usually order veggie rolls (oshinko, cucumber etc) and some entree with tofu (i'm vegetarian), or some veggie fried rice. Take-out orders always correct and fast. Excellent chinese food restaurant. Delicious and plentiful dishes which are basically prepared in front if you as the chefs prepare the food behind a glass wall. Prices are great too. About 6 bucks for the average entree. I had egg foo young and sweet and sour chicken for under 12 bucks. I decided to visit the Rice Box based on the reviews on Yelp, and I've got to admit I was disappointed. This place certainly is popular in Florence- quite a few people waiting for a table early Thursday evening. I bypassed that and sat at the bar. Maybe I didn't order the right thing, but I had their General Tso's chicken, and asked for it extra spicy. The decor at the restaurant is nice, and I think they had about 7 or 8 people in the kitchen preparing dishes along with a couple of people at the sushi bar. Service was prompt and good. It's kind of funny that I usually associate sushi with Japanese food, and the decor at the restaurant is kind of Japanese, but the staff pretty much spoke Mandarin. Still, that didn't matter to me at all. When the food arrived (fairly quickly), the presentation was nice. Brightly red/orange colored General Tso's chicken, a heap of white rice, a spring roll, and a few pieces of green brocolli. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. The brocolli was almost ice-cold, and I suspect it was frozen brocolli that they reheat. The chicken was so heavily breaded I could hardly taste the chicken at all, and the sauce was just ok. The spring roll was ok, but I've certainly had better. So, mainly for the quality (or missing quality) of the food, I have to rate this place with 2 stars. read more

I stopped at this place as a stop through on a road trip after reading positive reviews on Yelp. I was disapointed after reading such good reviews. I thought the food was of fair to average quality. I tried the general tso chicken with fried rice. The service was great, server was attentive and answered questions on the menu. My partner had a hibatchi dinner and it was somewht bland but freshly prepared. The place was clean which was good to see and there were a lot of customers in there suggesting it is a favorite in the area. read more

Offers a wide variety of Asian food, for a relatively low price. Only problem is that the portions are ENORMOUS. You will NEVER finish an entire plate of food. Luckily, they'll gladly give you to-go boxes to take it home. :) Service is good (waiters/waitresses never take too long to refill drinks, get orders, give checks, etc.) and fairly prompt. If you want to eat in, you'll probably have to wait in line a few minutes, even on weekdays, but it's worth it. The food itself is delicious! read more

I've only had the sushi here. The sushi isn't bad, but I wouldn't say it's great either. You get a large amount of food with the other dishes. Rice Box offers diners a pan-Asian menu with contemporary decor-both are new ideas to the limited Shoals dining scene. Rice Box does few thing very well but what they do well makes the trip worth while. Their steamed dumplings are among the best Ive eaten from Seattle to New York. So long as you stop there Rice Box is great. The Chinese menu is pedestrian without anything to test or challenge the palate although it is adequately executed. The sushi is typical of what you might find at any large grocery store-flavorless and perhaps the lowest sushi grade fish. The Pad Thai is not even on par with what you'll find in mall food court. The wait staff is hurried and impatient largely from high demand for the limited seating. The restaurant benefits from it's high energy, diverse menu, contemporary decor and location in a small college town with limited dining choices. In any city of size they'd be a strip mall after-thought, but in Shoals they're an all-star. Eat at your own risk, I've watched appalling shameful food safety practices that for me makes the place a no go, despite however good the dumplings are. read more

No better egg fu yung is to be found on this planet! Service is excellent, even though the place is usually full of diners. The only thing slow about the place was the line at the cash register, but the little patience required for that process is totally offset by the great dining experience. I often drive past the small downscale strip mall where this place is located and at meal times, a very large fraction of the vehicles in the parking area are clustered in front of the Rice Bowl. It is deservedly well patronized. Although it has been open only a few months, its high-quality food and service have attracted a large local following. Prices are reasonable, too! read more
