I couldn't eat what I really wanted because they use pork base grease, stock and bones in the food (I'm allergic to pork ‍) So, I got the chicken and waffles DELICIOUS. I'm a satisfied customer and so was the guess that came with me. This is a restaurant worth visiting. They serve takeout too and there is enough food on your plate to share.

Before I left I wanted banana pudding but they were out so I got the peach cobbler which I ate at home. Had I known it would be so good, I'd have ordered 2. Im definitely getting it again next time.

(I wasn't a fan of the rap music only because it did not compliment the decor and food.) 4 stars because the food is seasoned and reasonably priced: I ordered the pork chops, as a measure, to see if my next trip would be worth the drive. When they said it was going to take a little longer because of the thickness, I had a bit of regret ordering it. I was extremely suprised that the pork chops were well done to the bone! Take a look at the picture, chops are not dried out! The yams, were a nice treat. Sweet enough for a dessert. I should have ordered extra cornbread. Delicious! The mac and cheese: not overly mushy. The cook did not hold back on the cheese. I am so happy with the homecook taste. I will be back to try the chicken and waffles.

Fair pricing in general but tor the amount of food we got, great pricing! We ended up leaving with 6 styrofoam boxes however and it's definitely a lot of waste in that department. It could have easily been combined into 3-4 at most. The catfish and okra were great, as was the spaghetti which had a bit of a kick to it. The grilled cheese my daughter got was a bit burnt and the cabbage was over cooked but overall great good for a great price. I would try other menu items there in the future.

Right off the back the pulled pork was very tender and flavorful and I do not care for pork that much. The brisket was also very tender but lacked seasoning. The yams were awesome, the corn was overcooked and I am sure its because we got the food right before closing, the cabbage lacked salt and pepper, and the mac n cheese needed salt and pepper as well. Overall the meal was good just a few tweaks here or there and the sides would be bomb! My husband insisted that the brisket needed some smokiness and needed a little more seasoning as well. All in all 7.5/10... for now! Service was awesome and the establishment was clean!

However the second time we came we were excited to eat some good soul food, but after the first bite we were easily disappointed. I will not speak for everyone else, but will only comment on my food. I had the fried pork chops and gravy, greens, corn bread, and rice. The rice was not cooked properly, greens were mushy and was not cleaned good, and the pork chops had more bread than flour. The corn bread was something else, and I used my napkin to spit the cold and dry pieces out. (Quickly in and Quickly out). Seemed liked the food was sitting on the table a while.
