I had my consultation with Dr Maercks last week and decided against going to him for my breast augmentation. I was really excited about idea of subfascial placement but the more research I do the more it just seems like total bullshit. During my consult Dr Maercks didn't ask me what kind of results I wanted or give me an opportunity to provide reference photos, off the bat it just felt like he was going to do what he wanted and I wouldn't have any input. Afterwards, the receptionist told me "I know you were looking to book sooner rather than later" (I said the opposite actually) "we're filling up really fast. If you put down a $1000 deposit we can schedule you". Not only was I not being asked what results I wanted, I felt uncomfortable asking for what I wanted because I wasn't being listened to. And I was being pressured to book when I had said that I wouldn't be ready for a few months. Just gives me the vibe they're desperate for patients it felt really predatory. I found Dr Rian through a recommendation of a client of mine. She had had the facial rebalancing done, and I thought she looked really fresh and pretty so I decided to go and try it for myself. I went to see doctor Rian 2 weeks ago, and had 8 CC's of fillers administered for the facial balancing. We did the eye area, balanced out my nose, and my lips. My existing profile was uneven and unbalanced, and dr Rian gave me a pretty "liquid facelift" in about 45 minutes. In the beginning, I didn't want to do my eye area, but at his recommendation, I did, and I'm SO happy I listened to him! Only 2 weeks post procedure and I had a client tell me I look 23 (I'm 37) The procedure is fast, and painless, but the swelling and bruising was pretty intense afterwards. Luckily for me, the girls at his office reached out and followed up throughout the days after my appointment, and assured me everything was normal, and I went back for follow ups at one week post, and 2 weeks post. For me, a trip to Miami always means a stop at Dr. Maercks office. I recently went to him to help fix some issues I had with my face. He recommended Aesthetic Facial Balancing (which isn't a treatment I've seen anywhere else) as a way to help balance the structure and overall aesthetic of my face. I've seen a lot of my friends go to other surgeons for similar problems and end up very unhappy with their results. I was recently interested in the penis filler procedure that Dr. Rian A. Maercks, MD speaks about on his website. I contacted the office and spoke with a young lady who stated that it is $1,000 per CC but I could decide once I arrived what I wanted to go with. I made arrangements to get to the office and once I arrived I was advised the Doctor will not conduct the procedure unless I purchased 3 cc's or greater. I was not sure of this process and still wanted a natural look so I didn't want to do to much. After the consultation with Dr. Rian Maercks, MD he advised me that I needed at least 6 cc's for it to really fill out and for me to be satisfied. I went with the 6 cc's at $6,000 and was advised during the consultation that I would get a check up call and just follow-ups to make sure all was going well (Never Happened). Well after week 2 the swelling has gotten really out of control until it hurts to urinate or even cough. I reached back out to the doctors office and I was advised that he was busy but would give me a call back before the COB. Well I will just WARN you in advance that Dr. Rian A. Maercks, MD never called me or ever answered my calls again for that matter. I spoke with the secretary and she asked me on a scale of 1-10 what was my pain level and I said 8 but they never called. I cannot speak for everyone, but if you are a person of East Asian origin who were born with a flat face (like me) and want to significantly improve the projection and definition, Dr Maerck might be a good fit. When I was living in California I used to visit many world-renowned plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills. They are all perfectly skilled but also very conservative when it comes to face enhancement. Due to their aesthetic tradition, none of them would want to step over the line in fear of changing my "ethnicity." This results in an ironic scene where every time before the injection/surgery I, as a patient, had to remind the surgeons not to be too cautious and I don't want to preserve my facial features. Nonetheless, each time I was slightly disappointed that, after taking a long time off and spending so much, I looked exactly the same as I was before the operation. On the other side, I found Dr Maerck's dosage was quite the right amount for me. When he came up with the recommended dosage I was a bit hesitant, because the place he suggested using 3 or 2 syringes, other doctors would only do 1 or half before. It turned out his method was right. That is the right amount for me to really start seeing changes on my face. Following the face balancing, I also did some surgeries that further improve my facial projection. The result, by far, is also very satisfying. This is the first time I have ever had to write a negative review of a doctor. Not because I have not encountered poor service or unskilled professionals, but I have never had the urge to warn other people to stay away. At my consultation with this doctor for another procedure, he spoke to me about his "Aesthetic Facial Rebalancing" or "sneaky sculpting", as he likes to call it, where he would use fillers "here and there" in several areas of my face for a natural and balanced look. Later that afternoon, his assistant emailed me a quote that stated "Aesthetic Facial Rebalancing" with 4cc's of HA. Although his pricing was ridiculously high, I thought 4 ccs for all the areas he pointed out (temples, marionette lines, lips, chin) seemed reasonable and appropriate for the natural approach that he was so adamant to claim. On the day of my appointment, he had me waiting for over an hour until I told his assistant I had to leave for a meeting. It is only then that he came to see me and I was desperate to leave by that time. I should have left immediately, specially after he told me that the quote was only for the "upper area" of my face and he was going to try his "best" with only 4 ccs because he "usually needs 6 to 8 ccs to make a good difference" in this area. He placed all 4 ccs in just my eyes! Which I did not need at all!!! He didn't even touch my temples/cheeks. I left his office hoping that I was just swollen. For a whole week, I cried looking like a monster but was still hopeful. A week later, I went for a follow-up appt and I immediately told him and both of his assistants that I was overfilled and the results didn't seem right or positive. He was immediately patronizing, told me I looked like I needed a hug, and assured me I was still swollen and not to worry. He convinced me that one eye looked worse than the other because it needed more "support" and sold me more filler for the temple. Again, I trusted this doctor but little did I know my nightmare was just beginning. I had to go back 6 times in 2 weeks to beg him to dissolve the fillers and every time he told me I looked better with the fillers, that the blueish pigmentation around my eyes was just bruising and my own veins (not bruising and not my veins but Tindall effect of poorly placed fillers) and that is normal "for people to freak out when their features are changed." I never wanted to change my features! Every time I was there he tried to convince me to buy and get more fillers to "balance" it better. He then blamed the poor results on my natural asymmetry, my prior natural defects like my malar bags that he enormously enhanced and I had never even noticed before and that the eyelid edema was just temporary (it was not). Every time he would agree to dissolve the fillers, he would only do tiny amounts and made it seem he was doing me a favor to "make me happy," as he stated several times. At my last appointment (as I will never go back), after crying desperately trying to reason with him for over 40 minutes, where he would come up with another patronizing excuse or condescending line over and over again, I just begged him to remove everything immediately. Once again he just dissolved a tiny amount and left the room. I never even fought for my money back, I was just asking him to fix what he had done, to leave me as I was before I went to him. Three different doctors have agreed that I was overfilled and the fillers were poorly placed. Even the tiny amounts he dissolved, were poorly done. A month later, I still need to have the fillers dissolve even more (this would be the second session of Hyaluronidase with another doctor) and the under eyelid edema/filler migration will probably last for months, if not longer. Due to the amount of filler placed and the pressure it was causing, my left eye still hurts when I blink and I still have a dark blue pigmentation around one eye. What a nightmare! He charges an exorbitant amount of money and his ego is larger than the well being of his patients. I've lost $8000, enormous amounts of time, hours of sleep, and he ruined my vacation as I had to go looking like Quasimodo. Please stay away! read more

I am 58 and after 2 C-sections and a hysterectomy, I was in pretty bad shape and feeling pretty down about myself. If you've had these previous surgeries, you are familiar with the lovely belly flap you end up with over the incision lines. During menopause, I also put on about 40 pounds. I went to Dr Maercks bcs I had puffy under eyes and dark circles. I didn't want to have surgery to take out the fat under my eyes because  I was afraid of getting that "hollowed" look. Amazing Labiaplasty Revision Dr. Maercks is a gifted reconstructive plastic surgeon and a talented artist. I had consulted with him after receiving a Labiaplasty from another surgeon who had removed my labia minora and I was terribly unhappy. I was also interested in tightening my labia majora after childbirth and aging. I had searched all over for an experienced plastic surgeon to perform this procedure and could not find anyone, let alone with his expertise. ***UPDATE*** I'm pleased to say that the Maercks Institute reached out and refunded me for the lightening cream and also did a laser treatment on my scaring at no cost. There seems to have been some miscommunications between Dr Maercks and his former staff, so I'm glad they reached out and are willing to make it right. We are discussing options to improve my results, so once I have my final results, I'm happy to share and am remaining positive in hopes that Dr. Maercks will be able to help regardless of what that ends up being... I would love to be an advocate of his work, and am remaining optimistic. . . . I got the cold Subfascial breast augmentation done back in feb of 2017 and I wanted to wait at least a year before writing a review to ensure I could give my honest feedback regarding my overall results and experience with Dr Maercks, and I am really sad to say that I am disappointed. I did a lot of research on doctors and techniques before choosing this procedure and I put my trust in him. I was willing to pay a premium amount because I wanted and expected premium results. First of all, I have horribly dark pigmented scarring under my armpits. I even bought the scar recovery gel which he said I wouldn't need. A couple months after surgery, I expressed my dissatisfaction during an office visit, and he told me he would "give me" a lightening cream. When I went up to check out, the receptionist told me it was $120. This was even higher priced than what the manufacturer of the cream sold it for on their website ($104). I pulled it up on my phone at the desk and showed the receptionis. He told me they charge a premium (which makes no sense and no reseller should ever charge higher than a manufacturer charges customers directly for a product). I was leaving for a trip abroad and didn't have time to order it so I purchased it anyway. I was definitely turned off by the fact that he didn't just give it to me or at least match the pricing of the manufacturer for the sake of patient satisfaction seeing as I had results outside of what was promised and I was clearly upset. It only would have been a small cost for him, and would have made a world of a difference to me by showing that he cares about his patients satisfaction. He told me if the cream doesn't work he would "zap it with his laser". The cream still to this day hasn't gotten rid of the pigmentation. I called in and have actually gone into the office to discuss my dissatisfaction and the receptionist told me it costs $1200 per laser session. I brought up the scarring to doctor Maercks again directly and he told me it's fixable but didn't offer to do anything to fix it. Still to this day, I feel extremely self conscious about wearing a tank when I workout at the gym or doing anything where I lift my arms because the scars are very dark and noticeable. Secondly, my breasts are extremely tight and I have a gap in the middle. The whole reason I chose this technique was because he promised me that the cold subfascial technique eliminates the gap that is so commonly seen in breast augmentation's. When I first expressed my concerns, he told me to massage them and push them inwards. I did this for months, and they did not improve. I continually expressed my concerns until finally almost a year after surgery he told me I have capsular contracture. While I understand this happens to patients and it's not the doctor's fault, every other doctor I've researched offers a free revision within the first year if results are outside of customer expectations. When I asked him about my options to fix it, he told me he could do fat grafting, which is known to help with capsular or a full revision and said he would remove the implants and use different ones. However, he still wanted to charge me for his time and services. I would have totally understood if he charged me his cost (ie the cost for the anesthesia) but he wanted to charge me north of $6k for just the fat grafting. Anesthesia doesn't usually cost more than a grand at most. Again, every other top plastic surgeon I've looked at offers a revision at their cost,if not completely free if their patient isn't happy with results within the first year. If Dr Maercks is so confident in his techniques and results, why doesn't he offer what all the other top rated Plastic Surgeons do? It was my fault for not having it in writing before agreeing to this surgery... I guess I was too trusting. Again, it saddens me to have to write such a disappointing review as I believed in Dr Maercks. I'm not a negative person and hate talking bad about local businesses and individuals and would be happy to update/change my review if he would like to try and makeup for my results. read more

Dr. Maercks and his staff are the dream team! They create a super warm and caring environment for their patients. Dr. Maercks has an amazing eye for detail and facial harmony. He'll never make you look fake or too done, but rather he strives to bring out your individual beauty through developing a plan that suits each individual's features. I feel super comfortable in going to get fillers in different areas because I know that with him I'll never look fake. The only downside is that you get kind of addicted to the subtle yet enhancing tweaks lol!
