***UPDATE*** I'm pleased to say that the Maercks Institute reached out and refunded me for the lightening cream and also did a laser treatment on my scaring at no cost. There seems to have been some miscommunications between Dr Maercks and his former staff, so I'm glad they reached out and are willing to make it right. We are discussing options to improve my results, so once I have my final results, I'm happy to share and am remaining positive in hopes that Dr. Maercks will be able to help regardless of what that ends up being... I would love to be an advocate of his work, and am remaining optimistic. . . . I got the cold Subfascial breast augmentation done back in feb of 2017 and I wanted to wait at least a year before writing a review to ensure I could give my honest feedback regarding my overall results and experience with Dr Maercks, and I am really sad to say that I am disappointed. I did a lot of research on doctors and techniques before choosing this procedure and I put my trust in him. I was willing to pay a premium amount because I wanted and expected premium results. First of all, I have horribly dark pigmented scarring under my armpits. I even bought the scar recovery gel which he said I wouldn't need. A couple months after surgery, I expressed my dissatisfaction during an office visit, and he told me he would "give me" a lightening cream. When I went up to check out, the receptionist told me it was $120. This was even higher priced than what the manufacturer of the cream sold it for on their website ($104). I pulled it up on my phone at the desk and showed the receptionis. He told me they charge a premium (which makes no sense and no reseller should ever charge higher than a manufacturer charges customers directly for a product). I was leaving for a trip abroad and didn't have time to order it so I purchased it anyway. I was definitely turned off by the fact that he didn't just give it to me or at least match the pricing of the manufacturer for the sake of patient satisfaction seeing as I had results outside of what was promised and I was clearly upset. It only would have been a small cost for him, and would have made a world of a difference to me by showing that he cares about his patients satisfaction. He told me if the cream doesn't work he would "zap it with his laser". The cream still to this day hasn't gotten rid of the pigmentation. I called in and have actually gone into the office to discuss my dissatisfaction and the receptionist told me it costs $1200 per laser session. I brought up the scarring to doctor Maercks again directly and he told me it's fixable but didn't offer to do anything to fix it. Still to this day, I feel extremely self conscious about wearing a tank when I workout at the gym or doing anything where I lift my arms because the scars are very dark and noticeable. Secondly, my breasts are extremely tight and I have a gap in the middle. The whole reason I chose this technique was because he promised me that the cold subfascial technique eliminates the gap that is so commonly seen in breast augmentation's. When I first expressed my concerns, he told me to massage them and push them inwards. I did this for months, and they did not improve. I continually expressed my concerns until finally almost a year after surgery he told me I have capsular contracture. While I understand this happens to patients and it's not the doctor's fault, every other doctor I've researched offers a free revision within the first year if results are outside of customer expectations. When I asked him about my options to fix it, he told me he could do fat grafting, which is known to help with capsular or a full revision and said he would remove the implants and use different ones. However, he still wanted to charge me for his time and services. I would have totally understood if he charged me his cost (ie the cost for the anesthesia) but he wanted to charge me north of $6k for just the fat grafting. Anesthesia doesn't usually cost more than a grand at most. Again, every other top plastic surgeon I've looked at offers a revision at their cost,if not completely free if their patient isn't happy with results within the first year. If Dr Maercks is so confident in his techniques and results, why doesn't he offer what all the other top rated Plastic Surgeons do? It was my fault for not having it in writing before agreeing to this surgery... I guess I was too trusting. Again, it saddens me to have to write such a disappointing review as I believed in Dr Maercks. I'm not a negative person and hate talking bad about local businesses and individuals and would be happy to update/change my review if he would like to try and makeup for my results. read more

I was referred to Dr. Maercks by a friend of mine who was very pleased with his work. I received HA fillers and I must say, I am elated with the outcome! We have all seen people who look like they have "had work done." So I was always nervous that receiving fillers in high-volume would make me look different. That was not the case with Dr. Maercks. I was highly recommended by a friend of mine to visit Dr Rian Maercks for fillers. It was my first time ever having this procedure so I was very nervous. I made the phone call and Obi, the receptionist, was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. First of all, my consultation with Dr. Rian Maercks was wonderful. He spent an hour with me answering every question I had and thoroughly explained his innovative Cold Subfascial Breast Augmentation procedure (awesome by the way). I felt so confident and safe in his care I booked my surgery that day for the following week. I opted for oral and local anesthesia, and I am SO glad I did! Dr. Maercks put me physically and mentally at complete ease and I felt NO PAIN during the procedure. I was able to go home within a couple hours. BEWARE OF THIS SCAMMER! This is a typical case of "Suck as much as I can out of you" money desperate thirsty "doctor", he plays, and probably ignorantly believes, his role of superstar wealthy surgeon, when the truth is that he is a nobody, and will never be, the way he treats and tries to manipulate his patients... Once you pay, you do not matter anymore, he will do as he likes, and you must be satisfied and content, or you will have a problem. I payed $1,700 for 2 Syringes of Juvederm (super overpriced, now I know) to be injected into my upper lip for a subtle enhancement, and to my under eye area. INSTEAD, no one knows why, he injected it around my nose, and I mean 95% of the 2syringes, the other 5% he injected ONLY concentrated right in the middle of my upper lip, despite me specifically telling him not to do so, as I wanted it evenly and smoothly dispersed. Does that make sense to you? Because I don't need a degree in Medicine to know if you inject a whole lot of product only in the middle, it probably will not look very nice... But amazingly, he went ahead and had the audacity to do it anyways. Since the area was numbed, I could not feel where he was injecting and he just totally abused my trust in him respecting what we had agreed on. I mean, you don't expect the doctor to say OK Great, and then do something totally different! Never even went to the under eye area...go figure. So I had a weird, unaesthetic bump in the middle of my upper lip for Thanksgiving and my Birthday, NICE. It stayed there for a week, until I went back to his office, and luckily, with some effort, I got him to dissolve at least that. Not very happy, he did this with 2 very painful needle punctures to the middle of my upper lip using NOT EVEN ICE, so imagine... just dry lip puncture, never felt a worse pain in my life. But he could care less, & it was very obvious...no bedside manner whatsoever, more like I deserved the pain for complaining, kind of demeanor. After somewhat reducing the upper lip problem, not 100% but definitely not as monstrous, I asked him to please also dissolve the product around the nose because there was A LOT, in clumps, and it should've never been there to begin with. He said (that day) he would do it, but he did not advise it -an example of how much of a BSer and manipulator he is- Is not that he didn't advise it, he just didn't want to spend the $ on dissolving product, which he complainted many times about how expensive it was, n how much he was doing for me...Seriously?? I asked him to please inject the 2syringes I had payed for where we both had previously agreed, or to refund me. HE DID NOT LIKE THAT ONE BIT lol Although anyone with common sense would agree that's 2+2..Just because you decided to inject somewhere else, does not mean we are done now, I still did not get my lip enhancement or under eye area, but I did payed for it. HE SAID I HAD PAYED $1,700 (Prepare to laugh) FOR HIS TIME AND HIS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE, not just for the product LOL OK Great whatever u say, but I still want my 2Syringes dude. TIME: Hmm..What are u an attorney?? It took 10min, which YOU wasted on doing a BAD JOB. I lost 2 weeks, wasted my time going back to your office, and I have to waste my time writing a review about your shameless self now. Perhaps he thinks only HIS time is valuable... He went wild like I asked him for something outrageous, raised his voice to me and yelled, I quote him: - "YOU CANNOT BE REFUNDED AND YOU CANNOT BE MY PATIENT! - Leaving the room several times, very aggressive towards me, would laugh at any and everything I said and addressed it as ridiculous, wouldn't even let me speak, saying "You're not a doctor". While I am not a doctor, I am not blind or stupid, and if you tell me you're going to enhance my lips and I pay you $1700 to do that, I EXPECT YOU TO DO JUST THAT, n not improvise as you go and decide to change plans while you're injecting, without even bothering to consult it with me! I should have never told him I wanted to do my under eye area as well, because THAT IS WHY he injected everything around the nose, hoping I would not realize, so that I payed $1700 MORE for the under eye area, smart a**..Only 2 months after a fat grafting to the face and lips with him as well for which I payed $6,000, never has enough this guy SMDH... You'd think I wouldn't need to enhance my lips after only 2months, but everything he put in the lips & under eye disappeared. But that's fine I was not upset about it because I know your body absorbs -part- of the fat, although I wished at least SOME had remained, I was happy to retouch even if I had to pay again. So I went back for 2nd time to finish what he had labeled as "retouches" (Still had nothing in my lips or under eye), he refused to fix anything at all, not even what he had said HE WOULD, although he did not advise, remember? so i opened a yelp account just to rave about how much i loved the work the Dr. Maercks did!! I recently went to DR. Maercks for my first procedure ever. I wanted to get some Juvederm around my eyes and mouth as i was seeing some sinking. Firstly, the office was so beautiful, new, clean and modern. the staff were incredibly caring, helpful and informative. Dr. Maercks was really great a suggesting where i should focus the filler, he told me to focus on the sinking under the eyes and cheekbones to lift and even out my asymmetry. Before the procedure he walked me through what would happen and eased my nervousness about the healing process. Through out the procedure he was gentle and made sure i was comfortable the whole time. I cant say it enough, i LOVE what he did!! My cheekbones look so natural and amazing. just slightly fulller and lifted and my under eyes are nice and full and even. i look SO MUCH YOUNGER!! This is basically the injection of fillers such as Juva Derm (I am not sure of the exact product that was used) into the face to combat the effects of aging in my case. I had Juvederm injections done by Dr. Rian Maercks and I am extremely happy with my results. The fillers were injected in my lips and lip area including underneath my eyes to fill in the hollowness which were creating the appearance of dark circles. He also placed some filler in the brow area to raise them a bit. Dr. Maercks used about 4 syringes which at first I was hesitant about because I thought that would be too much. He assured me that I wouldn't look scary or overdone and boy was he right. I couldn't be any happier. I look more refreshed and youthful, no one notices I had anything done but I get compliments all the time with friends asking me if I'm using any new face products because I look so refreshed. I have had fillers done with several other doctors before and I have finally found the right one who knows about balancing out the features properly. Dr. Maercks performed his cold subfascial breast augmentation as a revision 2 weeks ago and I am elated with the results! My previous surgery was done under the muscle and as a result, I had distortion of my breasts when I flexed my muscle as well as a very visible double bubble deformity. Performing the surgery under the fascia vs under the muscle eliminated both problems and I am left with natural and beautifully spaced breasts thanks to the Dr. Maercks suggestion to use the "gummy bear" tear drop implant instead of the round moderate profile implants I had previously. I felt at ease throughout the entire process as he was very knowledgeable and well versed and answered all questions as well as addressed all concerns. HORROR STORY! MY IMPLANT CONSTANTLY ROTATES SHORTLY AFTER THE PROCEDURE AND HE REFUSED TO CORRECT IT! I wrote my previous post shortly after the procedure was completed, while I still had some swelling. Shortly after I posted my first review and after the swelling went down I noticed that the implant in my left breast began to rotate on numerous occasions and ripples in the implant became very visible to the eye and to the touch. This was a mortifying experience for me. I contacted the doctor and he was extremely rude. When we discussed correcting the procedure the doctor himself quoted me one rate and almost every time we spoke thereafter the price went up. Ultimately he increased the amount 3 times and made statements like: "well I shouldn't have to pay to fix your problem." He was extremely cold. Ultimately, when he changed the price the third time I informed his office that I would not pay more than he last quoted me, otherwise I would have the procedure done elsewhere. It took him over a week to reply and when he did respond he DISCHARGED me from his practice and his reason why was because I threatened LEGAL ACTION. Let me also add that he promised me that the one thing that I could be certain of is that the implants would not rotate BUT it did. He also tried to convince me that it was not rotating in the beginning and indicated that he did not believe it had rotated until I produced pictures. And let me add that these pictures were humiliating because I had the tear drop implants inserted during the procedure so my breasts looked totally DISTORTED!!!! WARNING! I suggest that if you use this doctor that you think twice. His work was clearly flawed and he is not a trustworthy individual and definitely not a man of his word. I sure wish I knew this before I chose his practice for a procedure that important as this. BTW he also threatened legal action against me if I made negative statements about him but I feel like I have a duty to update and inform the public, since I previously provided him with a good rating. read more

I was hesitant to get my breast implants replaced after 10 years as I knew I needed a breast lift as well. I was concerned of the experience of the Doctor ,scarring and achieving the outcome I wanted. I was also able to go back to the gym and not alter my exercise regimen just with caution. So If you are looking for the best doctor he definitely knows what he is doing and delivers amazing results. My experience at Dr. Maercks office was incredible. The staff was warm and welcoming making sure I was comfortable the entire time. I went in to have my under eye bags treated and Dr. Rian thoroughly explained all my options and what he recommended for me to start off with. I am a model and had never had any work done prior to this so I was extremely nervous going in. With my career depending primarily on aesthetics I am so pleased with the results. Hello to all! I am a 50 year old transgender woman. I have been researching GRS for almost 10 years while I saved up my dinero for this highly anticipated surgery. Which surgeon would I trust with such a delicate procedure? After careful, and I mean careful consideration, I happened to have chosen a surgeon right in my backyard - Dr. Rian Maercks. I live in Fort Lauderdale and he is located in Miami. There are so many stories I have read about girls going to another country and feeling lonely, I wanted to stay in the states where my family could be with me. I did not really feel confident with any surgeons here, until, I found Dr. Maercks. I read his amazing reviews right here on Real Self.com. I continued to do more research and found great articles written about him. I was very impressed with his out of the box thinking. Shattering the norm and revolutionizing SRS with his own techniques. I called and set up my first appointment. How exciting! The day finally arrived and I sat with him and spoke for a while and it was wonderful. It was clear in my heart that I have found my surgeon! My date was then set for surgery on the 24th of September. Wow. The days seemed to have crawled for my surgery date to arrive. But alas! The day arrived! I came in early that morning and the staff was amazing and wonderful. They made me feel like family, honestly. They prepped me, rolled me into his operating room, I began to count backward and next thing I knew I was being rolled into the recovery room. Holy moly! It was done! Slowly the anesthesia wore off and felt very little pain. Now, recovering from SRS is simply intense. There was a catheter attached which happened to be the most uncomfortable aspect of the surgery. I was forewarned that this would be the case and they were not incorrect! The first night I spent in the recovery room and had a few issues with the catheter. The next day my mother took me to a hotel nearby where we stayed for a week. There was discomfort from swelling I had which I am prone to with any surgery. Then the day came when I was to have my packing removed. I was excited but then quite nervous as I knew the next step would be the dreaded dilation. I have read so much about how truly awful it is that I almost decided not to have the surgery. Now, this is why I chose Dr. Maercks. All girls have to do dilation after surgery 3 times a day with moderate to high levels of pain. Most surgeons use grafting within the vagina for depth. Dr. Maerck's has is very own technique and that wonderful technique has gifted me with a depth of 8.5" and I only had to dilate twice a day instead of three times a day. Awesomeness!!! My dilation experience the very first time was super scary. I had no idea of what to expect. It was the first time I was to put something in my brand new vagina. Crazy... So, it was uncomfortable and very little pain. Each session that passed it became easier and easier. After 5 weeks I started dilating once a day. How amazing is that! Most girls do not get to that stage until at least 6 months to a year! At this point in time, Dilation represents pain to me so what I do once a day is just maintenance. Also, my nerve endings have awakened recently within my vagina and my maintenance has become arousing. It feels very good inside and it is distracting! I say Dr. Maercks has cracked the code on SRS. After a couple of months I had my 2nd surgery which was the labiaplasty. This is a common surgery to aesthetically improve the vagina. Once again, this is why I chose Dr. Maercks because not only is he a surgeon, he is an artist. My vagina is so beautiful I am going to enter her into the Miss Universe contest. She is just so beautiful! To put the cherry on top of this amazing journey, I also had my first orgasm just about 6 weeks after my surgery. Since then, I have had over a dozen multiple orgasms. Feels different and to me, better than a male orgasm. I have not read of any girl having an orgasm so early on. What can I say, I truly believe we have in our country, in beautiful Miami, the best SRS surgeon in the world. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. What a great surgeon and what a great staff! Dr. Rian Maercks is the best plastic surgeon ever! You can't "see" his work, it looks so natural. I am a professional model (15years) so my face and body are my livelihood. I opted to have his cold-subfacial breast augmentation 4 years ago - best thing I ever did for myself! I have undetectable scarring, all sensation, they're so natural looking, they're soft, bouce, move - my model friends (who see me topless) and even my boyfriend CAN'T TELL they're not mine! People are genuinely shocked when the topic comes up and I fess up. lol They've paid for themselves at least 3 times with the amount of bookings I've gotten since then, and I would do it again 1000 times. The changes are so slight, I had to study my own befores and afters hard to even figure out why I look so much prettier. I still couldn't figure it out until Dr. Maercks walked me through each tiny change that made a HUGE difference. It's not even about being perfectly symmetrical, it's a balance thing. He told me he studied what makes beautiful people beautiful, and figured out how to enhance whichever feature(s) will achieve your most beautiful face. Don't freak out with the swelling - totally did that with both my breast aug and face. He does absolutely beautiful work - and as a perfectionist, that is saying ALOT. Dr. Maercks was a Fine Arts major before he went into medicine - he's a truly talented ARTIST, and his work on me has been just gorgeous, not only to me, but all my friends and family are so impressed, they're now saving up to have him work on them! I finally found a surgeon that I trust. I love my results! The staff is excellent. I did not think that I would ever get good results. When I came to Dr.Maerck"s office, I was very non trusting. I had just came home a few months before from having a facial procedure in Can Cun. This doctor had basically took my money and never returned my calls. I would then have to repeat the procedure. Before that , I had a full face fat transfer that some ER doc patially did if that. I had no result at all. I was at wits end when I walked in to Dr. Maerck's office. I flew all the way to MIami and because of my past experience, I wanted to fly back home and forget it. Dr. Maercks and his staff were very patient with me. I went ahead and had the full face fat transfer. The pain was minimal and the results are amazing. My eyes look pretty and sort of almond shape. My whole face looks younger . I am planning a different procedure with Dr. Maercks in the future. read more
