Dr. Maercks is the King of injectables! This is my second Botox and Juvederm treatment by Dr. Maercks and my results went far beyond my high expectations....I was more than pleased with the results and I couldn't wait to show off my younger, fresher, and very smooth skin. To achieve all the corrections I wanted, 2 treatments were necessary. I didn't think my facial lines or structure could get any better after the first treatment....but I was amazed by Dr. Maercks work. He gave my lips a sexy boost....and it looks natural and even....with NO bumps or lumps. He basically gave me a face lift with Juvederm....defining my cheek bones and softening my jaw line. He softened my parentheses lines along the sides of my nose and mouth. He gave me a beautiful eyebrow arch and opened my eyes....I don't look tired anymore. I had a run away line under each eye from the sun and he smoothed it away. Where do I even begin?! I am a Midwestern/Catholic small-town girl at heart. Always been very small-chested with a narrow/athletic build. Married 22 years and BF 5 children. Never in my mind had I ever considered breast implants based upon the stigma and look I had always despised. However, in the last 2 years I went back and forth and was now heavily considering it for the first time in my life. Believe me, I really did my due diligence of massive research...asked a lot of questions...and contemplated for what seemed like forever. I googled a ton of pictures, doctors, and experiences. Naturally, I still had my fears and doubts about everything it involved though. For me, I had to be mentally and emotionally ready for it. I was not looking for others' opinions or approval. I did it for myself...for my own reasons that are important and justified in my eyes. This trumps all else no matter what. Dr. Maercks was one I kept going back to and reading about. Without meeting him in person yet, I was drawn to his vision of a natural and conservative approach. It was the "Mini BA" I had always been looking for. So, I sent in pix of myself (per requested) and talked on the phone with him after he reviewed. He said I'd be a great candidate for his well-known cold-subfascial surgery. He reassured me that I'd be super happy with the final results I was hoping for. I finally scheduled a consultation in person, along with 3 other doctors, just to be fair and sure of my decision. Nothing compared to his compassion, knowledge, and expertise. The other doctors suggested too small or too big and under the muscle. I would have been greatly disappointed for more reasons than one. Dr. Maercks had me share a little bit about myself as far as wants and needs go, along with where I was at in my life. He already had in mind what would look good on me...unbelievably SPOT ON!! Fast forward to 8 months later, after several emails/phone calls, I flew back out there to get it done. My final results speak for themselves! I LOVE how natural they feel AND look. I can still wear most of my own clothes, but they fill out much better and give me that womanly look I've always desired. I can play them down or up, depending on the occasion and clothing. Most importantly, I have a passion for working out and wanted to keep it all proportionate with my smaller/fit frame. I do teach group fitness classes and enjoy lifting weights/running. I emphasized wanting to be a full B/small C and that was beyond successful! He suggested 345cc moderate profile silicone cohesive gel. They have the natural slope/drop shape, but still helped fill out my upper pole giving me slight projection. Everyone is different and depends on where one starts. I had little fat tissue to begin with, but my skin was thick enough to work with. No rippling, wide gap, or huge scars for me. Victory!! I hope this helps anyone looking for advice and info. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read the negative reviews of him on Yelp, Google and RealSelf to understand how bad it can be especially if you value your time, your money or your beautiful looks. The positive reviews are overly fluffy while the negative ones absolute horror stories including mine. He failed to meet any of the overly high expectations that he claimed to be capable of delivering for every procedure. Worse than failing to live up to his descriptions of himself, the self-named MAERCKS facelift, MAERCKS breast augmentation and so called "sneaky" facial injections all told costing approx. 100K resulted in a laundry list of complications as follows: traumatically torturous physical pain in recovery of the facelift and breast augmentation, bedridden for 10 days with 2 massive hematomas on both sides of my neck, permanent nerve pinching to my right ear along with a partially lopped off tragus, pronounced railroad track scars across both upper eyelids, and an extensive infection of my right breast resulting capsular contracture within just weeks of the breast surgery. If all that doesn't sound horrible enough, I was present in his office to consult about the infection 5 days before his preplanned 3 week vacation out of the country. Rather than recommend an emergency procedure to remove the infected implant immediately, he prescribed antibiotics for me then departed the country leaving me for another 4 full weeks. Upon his return, he actually suggested doing nothing as a possible option saying he believed the antibiotics had resolved the infection. I'd like to make this crystal clear - he addressed his personal affairs first and foremost before the care of a very sick patient. So entirely self-absorbed is he with his own self-grandiosity and affairs that he displayed insensitive disregard for a patient's potentially life-threatening situation. Fortunately or perhaps unfortunately for me, I disagreed insisting the implants be replaced because I wanted them to be smaller. I awoke expecting complete resolution only to have him inform me that rather than replace them, he had to remove both and install 2 drains, one in each breast because the infection had done so much damage to both breasts not just the right one and my breast tissue was liquified. The results of that implant extraction left no remaining natural breast tissue along with deeply sunken areoles and deep contracted scarring that more than a half dozen other plastic surgeons I consulted since all rejected me saying they couldn't possibly repair it. The breast repair continues to be an ongoing project as I continue to search for someone skilled enough to help me. The only good news of my experience is I am incredibly fortunate to have found a far superior facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffery Spiegel of Boston who redid every aspect of the facial surgery for which I had already paid Maercks including necklift, eyelids, brow and hairline. Dr Spiegel couldn't fix the pinched ear nerve or lost tragus but no matter my face looks so great now people I've known for years didn't recognize me! I feel lucky this most unfortunate series of events with Maercks led me to someone who actually can deliver superior results. Take my experience into consideration if you ever think to do ANY procedure with this person. I ignored the many red flags and let my personal feelings cloud every aspect of my response to the situation. I was overly profuse with my thanks to him for his work and skills because of some personal tragedies I had experienced and blame myself for jumping into such extensive surgery that led to nothing but more grief, heartache and pain. Now that so much time has passed I hope this description is clear enough to help you make an informed decision if this is a person you could trust with your medical care. I had my procedure done with Dr Maercks and had written a review, but after some thought I just wanted to be a little more specific for other women who are reading this and might be in the same position and had the same problems as me. I know from experience how hard it was for me to find reviews IF ANY on the labia majora. So here goes :) My experience is with reconstructive perineum tears, along with scar revision and labia plasty (labia MAJORA reduction/excision of lose sagging skin) (I know...I was a mess and now I'm perfect) I went in the morning and must first day how comfortable his staff made me, Obadiah was great, and as a person who gets anxiety I was totally at ease. I did my labiaplasty/ perineum repair and scar removal under local anesthesia just because of personal preference I didn't want the after effects of general, and I had done a previous (however unsuccessful) perineoplasty under local with a different Doctor several years ago, so I was already familiar with that. Doctor Maercks had to also repair what the previous surgeon had done because he did a bad job and my perineum was still open and unsightly. So I had a child three years ago which left me with an open, exposed torn perineum which made me extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed, you could see the scars and an opening which was very unattractive. I also had scaring above and on my labia majora, which occurred after having a bad laser hair removal experience, and on top of that I felt my labia MAJORA was lose and sagging and just all together very aesthetically and unappealing. I always felt like I needed to hide and it made me shy in the bedroom which is a horrible feeling as a confident young woman, no one wants to feel shy down there they want to feel sexy (which I now do) Dr. Maercks COMPLETELY fixed my problems far beyond expectation, I literally feel sexy like a porn star and I don't have better words to use lol. He was able to completely close my open perineum so the MAJORA actually came together at the bottom, removing all the unsightly scars. He also removed ALL the scaring on my labia majora, while trimming the lips so there was no longer excess skin, it is now smooth and appears youthful with no more scaring and he also put the incision in the crease like on the inside of my lips so it won't be seen. Im swollen now, but with my pain pills it's very manageable and totally worth it. I feel great and can't stop taking pictures of myself :) I am already in love with my new vg and I know it's only going to get better. Dr. Maercks is amazing and I am certain I made the right choice having him as my plastic surgeon and I am so very happy and confident and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. If you need to find a surgeon who does an excellent amazing job repairing your vagina and you want to get it perfect the first time, then trust me go to him, I wish I had read my review before wasting money and stress on other surgeons before meeting him. So all in all he reconstructed my open scarred perineum, my loose sagging labia majora, and removed all my scaring. Even the scars above my labia majora (I didn't even think possible)... I can't express with words how grateful I am to Dr. Rian Maercks . He saved my life and showed true concern something you don't see nowadays. I had gluteal implants in South America when on vacation, it had been almost 2 months from the surgery, then suddenly one day I woke up and had extreme pain on one of the implants. It was swollen and felt hot to the touch and I had fever was dizzy and vomiting. It seemed my blood pressure went so low that I felt like passing out and my condition started deteriorating. I called several plastic surgeons and explained my case but they all closed their doors at me. They stated that they could not take my case because of insurance purposes since it was a complication to a surgery performed outside the country. Until I came across Dr. Rian Maercks who was willing to help me, he showed genuine concern from the beginning and an interest to help me. He was honest and told me the implant would most likely need to be removed. However he said if possible would try to save it. He admitted me to the hospital without wasting any time. I entered as a direct admit through the ER and Dr. Maercks followed up every step of the way. He even gave me his cellular number and told me not to hesitate and call him if I felt worst. He also called me to see how I was doing. After having a CT scan, lab work and lab results were available Dr. Maercks called me to inform me that the implant would need to be removed the following day at 9:30 am. However thanks to his interest and concern he was constantly calling the hospital to follow up on my condition and noticed I was getting worst. Therefore he showed up approximately at 3:30 am for emergency surgery. He was worried that the infection could start entering my bloodstream that the outcome could be fatal. Yet when I entered the OR the anesthesiologist refused to administer IV or general anesthesia because I had eaten 4 hours earlier. Dr. Maercks stated that the surgery could not wait because the infection could go into my bloodstream and if that happened the consequences would be devastating . He told me that he would inject me with local anesthesia and that he would remove the implant. I was scared and initially refused. I did not want to be awake during surgery because of a previous traumatizing experience. However Dr. Maercks assured me I was in good hands and that I would not feel any pain not even the anesthesia injections. The confidence he gave me made me accept his proposal. The Dr. was just wonderful, I did not feel any pain at all and it seemed he had magical hands. I did not feel the implant coming out when Dr. Maercks told me it was out. As soon as that happened he washed and disinfected the area and I immediately felt much better. He knows how to make one feel comfortable and secure and he is such a great humane person who has passion for what he does and is good at it. I am so thankful to Dr. Rian Maercks that words are not enough to show my gratitude and if it was not for him I would not be writing this review. I been to many plastic surgeons and I never wrote a review before but I feel that people need to be aware that this in an excellent Dr. the type you no longer see these days. CAREFUL DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR - UNAUTHORIZED PROCEDURE. I was inducted under general anesthesia to have 3 procedures done ,but when I woke up I had one extra procedure that I didn't ask for it or ever gave permission verbally or written to dr.Ryan A. Maercks . The procedures done legally and with my signature were: Four lid Blepharoplasty, Brow Pexy and Full facial Fat-transfer. The procedure done illegally while I was under anesthesia and I couldn't say NO was described later by the doctor as a "lateral canthus ",as he explains after the surgery in simple words that he attached the side of my eye higher into the bone, I went and investigated on the internet and found out it is called lateral canthus. I never asked for this procedure. He then gets my picture up on the tv and tries to convince me that's a better and a younger look, I disagreed with him and asked if he can reverse it, he answered it was simple I just need to massage the corner of my eyes .I feel if I massage the corner of my eyes I will have "droopy" eyes .Also other doctors told me not to do that. I am so upset as not only I do not like this look and now have more wrinkles around my eyes but more importantly I have vision problems in my right eye . These vision problems appear only AFTER the surgery and I have talked about over and over with DR. Maercks. when I last saw Dr. Maercks he told me "We are not a good patient doctor match ". I am not happy with DR Maercks negligence and lack of interest to resolve this problem. I have been in several facial doctors to see if they find a solution to my problem.all doctors I have seen told me my eyes are uneven and one even told me this surgery "lateral canthus "was made wrong and I have one eye higher than the other. I also been to eye doctors and they all told me I need glasses now. List of problems: Number one and most important, my vision in the right eye has deteriorated by the surgery. I have 2 huge pouches of fat under my eyes, I never had that before, and my right eye is even red from the extra force the fat causes by pulling out my skin, also causing the skin to stretch. I have wrinkle lines after the upper blepharoplasty due to the crooked cut done above my eyelids I now have lines due to the skin pulling in different directions. Additionally my right eye lid was cut much higher than my left. I have a bump under my right eye because the doctor aloud two separate stiches to stick together for way to long and now I have a bump that is not going away as promised by the doctor. I have more wrinkles around my eyes then I ever had before, my crows feet are now very distinguished after the doctor illegally changed my eye shape with the lateral canthus. When I complaint about a fat pocket above my right eye the doctor told me that "some fat must had move to that location by mistake. I am not a doctor but I don't believe fat moved from my forehead to above my right eye (where he had made an extra high incision) by "itself". First meeting He Be ware of Deceiving Marketing and being rip off. showed me his Video , injecting himself with a massive volume , about 35 Syringes and picture of himself before and after , and another Video of a woman who was injected with Fat . When you look for a change and you have no previous experience in any procedures ever , the video is very convincing that 6-8 Syringes that he recommended are not too much ,after all the Dr. injected himself with 35 or less . THIS IS AN AGGRESSIVE MARKETING AND A PSYCHOLOGICAL WORK ON THE PATIENT . With good faith and a hope to get rid of my Hollow eyes I've paid an amount of $4,250 ( to his opinion , he always tell his patients " the more the better the result ".THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE !!!!! My daughter couldn't recognize me when I went to pick her up, I was swollen and bruises cover my eyes to my Cheeks. I did NOT leave the house for 10 Days . But the problem only started . I had a breast augmentation and lift with Dr. Maercks last Friday and I could not be more satisfied with the care I have been receiving. The initial consultation was a last minute decision but I had been following his work and technique for quite sometime. I was intrigued with his cold subfascial breast augmentation and how natural his results were. I understand every woman has a different image in mind of what they want their breasts to look like. I am a mother of three with 18yr old boys and a 5yr old daughter so I did not want to look like I had swollen balloons under my shirt. I just wanted back what being a mother had taken away. I also did not have a lot of time to be off for recovery because I work full time, manage the family and I am also a graduate student. The idea of being able to return to work after a few days under somewhat light duty was definitely appealing. At the initial consultation I found the office and it's staff to be extremely friendly and inviting. Dr. Maercks took his time explaining the entire procedure comparing it to other techniques and ensured he answered all my questions. I had looked at several other plastic surgeons before deciding to go with Dr. Maercks and his price is much higher than most but that's because his quality is too. I would not go cheap on something that is going in my body that could not only cause emotional harm but physical too if done improperly. He was running a summer special at the time so I could not pass up the opportunity to have the surgery I always wanted close to the price of the not so flattering results of other Miami plastic surgeons. From initial consult to surgery day and my first post op I have always been able to get in contact with Dr. Maercks within a few minutes. Surgery was just under 2 hours and he was in the room with my husband when I woke up making sure I was doing ok. The recovery suite is like being at home with the big comfy bed and a couch for your spouse or friend to wait with you. You are not rushed out so another patient can come in, instead you are encouraged to rest and take as long as you need. Within three days I was up moving around and off the pain medicine completely. I chose Dr. Maercks to perform my breast augmentation in the fall of 2016 for several reasons: 1. His website and staff clearly explain his technique. They didn't only explain the technique, but also acknowledge its rarity, innovation, and criticisms. Dr. Maercks also quizzed me on my knowledge of the technique before surgery; he wanted to make sure I knew exactly what I was getting and we were 100% aligned. 2. His staff. 80%-90% of any medical experience is with a doctor's staff. I have "fired" great doctors because of their incompetent, thoughtless, rude, or dismissive staff. Obadiah is an exceptional human being who is clearly focused on my comfort, understanding, and satisfaction. All other staff, from nurses to anesthesiologists, were such lovely, competent and friendly people. Professionals. 3. His training. Dr. Maercks' credentials include undergraduate and medical degrees from a stellar institution, and he continued his education via international fellowships and apprenticeships. As a woman of color, it was imperative that I have a surgeon versed in ethnically diverse skin and body types. I know this type of exposure impacts perspective and performance, and that meant as much to me as his schooling and certifications. 4. His passion and philosophy. Cosmetic surgery is about aesthetic result. Period. The fact that Dr. Maercks' techniques are designed to combat asymmetry and scarring, while producing a long lasting, natural looking result, sold me. It is clear that he loves what he does, and is passionate about educating his clients and making them happy. 5. His realness. It may seem strange to talk about "real" when getting cosmetic surgery, but Dr. Maercks has a sincerity to his character that is very reassuring. I didn't feel "charmed" or "smooth talked" by him. He is a real man who endeavors to deliver realistic results. I can believe this surgeon does certain things well, or I have certainly seen reviews to this end. He comes across as pleasant, although brief, and the office staff is friendly and courteous. However, he was apparently in way over his head in my case and has not accepted that. Instead, over 5 or so subsequent attempted fixes following what was supposed to be a one-time operation, he gradually eroded the definition of an acceptable result (including massive, unsightly scars and leaving me with a functional problem I did not have before operating), never got around to attempting most of the component procedures, and worst of all: never filed with insurance, leaving me with horrible debt from an impossibly large bill for a covered reconstructive procedure that my insurance had provided specific prior authorization for. I now believe I was misled from the beginning regarding his history of previously performing these surgeries: if he has performed this kind before, there was never any actual evidence or even casual mention beyond the statements that he had indeed done so before, and certainly there was no prior experience he was pulling from to resolve my issues. While he has stopped short of telling me he will not help me further, he clearly believes that I have come to the end of this process as far as what he can ultimately accomplish, and I will have to start the entire process over with another surgeon. While perhaps more of a societal problem than anything else, it is also worth noting that the staff changes frequently, so it can be difficult to keep track of who you are checking in with over time, and I did find it uncomfortable to explain my rather intimate problem to so many different people that might only be there a week or two. Summary: Nice people, but do NOT attempt male genital reconstruction, and be extremely wary of insurance processing promises. read more

Dr. Maercks is truly one of a kind. Although I ended up with one of his "composite" face lifts with eye lifts brow adjustment( I forgot what he calls this, not a lift) and facial fat grafting, he did spend a substantial amount of time and energy explaining all of my less invasive and less costly options. He is genuinely interested in the interest and well being of his patients. He is never pushy and at times suggests less costly alternatives. I felt very confident moving forward with him even though I was very nervous to have such an invasive procedure. I have to say that despite looking pretty scary day one the results are truly unbelievable! I felt comfortable going out in public in one week. I am 31 years old and my goal was it to look like 22 again. I had already plastic surgery done on my body and knew, if you want to look the best, you have to look FOR the best. And this time I decided to do something in my face.I made a lot of research on different websites about all different doctors in Dade and Broward. I love the idea of aging gracefully and in doing this I need a little help from the beautiful science of cosmetic and plastic surgery. I said gracefully not naturally although you always want to look as though you are an untouched canvas. So in a quest for the perfect Dr. I look for someone pickier than me and it wasn't easy. But I found my guy. Dr. Maercks had no "bigger the better," breast comments I got from other doctors and no "you need xyz procedures," that I was not coming in for a consultation for. I believe that is key especially with women, if we are coming for breasts give us breasts. If we like them we will come back for xyz. I had my breast augmentation and they look and feel like natural 21 year old breasts (I'm 34). A friend of mine admired Dr. Maercks' work on me and had reconstructive surgery and implant procedure on her breasts as well. Back to the xyz my implants were done in March and since then I have done fat transfer under my eyes and other little places in my face that natural aging has depleted. I would never trust anyone but Dr Maercks to work on me cosmetically. The work he does is amazing and his results are naturally beautiful. Some of the best techniques that can't be found by any other surgeons in the country! I did his Aesthetic Facial balancing to correct my nose, lips and chin and I am over the moon about my results!
