Samples on the left and actual tile on the right
Ludmila P.

I would like to share my experience with Riad tile and warn customers to do more diligence prior choosing this merchant. I am out of pocket for more than $7K with another $7K -$8K anticipated expense related to Riad tile. I am happy to provide anyone here with details to prevent the experience I had because I do not wish it on anyone. I picked Natural White Zellige tile for my master bath shower / wall install and since I am out of state, I wanted to make sure that this is the tile I want to buy. I ordered and paid for 2 sets of samples, which came in and looked exactly how I expected. I showed them to the contractor, it was approved and we decided to move forward with it. I placed the order, the tile arrived and a week after, the contractor started installing the tile. What started to come out on the wall was horrible. The tile in the boxes I received was crooked, warped and bend inwards and outwards. I was expecting small natural chips and cracks but not deformed tile that cannot go straight on the wall. Some edges were totally in and some were sticking out, spacing between the tiles could not be kept relatively uniform because the tile was extremely uneven in size and thickness, etc. I contacted the merchant and spoke to Laura and asked if they can replace the percentage of tile that is not usable and Laura advised that she does not see a problem doing so, but would confirm with Kale. But then, she responded that Kale does not want to do it "because that's the natural look of that tile". Clearly, why did I not receive that kind of tile as my "samples"???? I would never make a decision to purchase it. They intentionally tricked me into the purchase and refused to take care of the issue. Understanding that Riad Tile is not willing to take care of the issue, I disputed the transaction, but unfortunately for me, AmEx went by the merchant's policy saying that their "no return policy" means that the tile had to be rejected at delivery, otherwise "you are stuck with it" and it's no longer their problem. This merchant is dishonest and unethical. I am talking to my attorney now on preparing to take them to court.

Wonderful!

In today's environment more unhappy customers tend to take the time to leave negative reviews then…read morethey do when happy. As for me, when dealing with the associates at Seconds & Surplus every interaction was professional and pleasant. My husband and I recently completed the build of our new home and purchased several items from Seconds & Surplus. We purchased two double iron doors, tile for our guest home, and the handles for both doors etc. After installation I had a few concerns and reached out, an associate answered the phone and said the manager was on break, but they would forward those concerns to him so that he could call me back. Honestly, I was going to hold my breath as it usually would take several days to get a call back when calling a business about a concern however when calling Seconds and Surplus the manager, Cordell called me within a few hours. He took the time to listen to my concerns and showed a genuine interest in what I had to say. He asked that he reach out later in the week as he needed to find out what he could do for me. He promptly reached out a few days later with a resolution to my issues. Shortly after speaking to him Mr. Williams, the Regional Vice President reached out via email. He was very professional and even took the time to send me some links on one of the rare concerns I had. I was very shocked and pleased that someone in his position took the time to not only apologize for those few minor concerns but take a moment out of his day to make sure they were all taken care of. Thank you both for making my experience with my purchases and concerns pleasant interactions. Sincerely, Dinah Black "Happy Customer"

When we did our home remodel one of our contractors suggested Seconds and Surplus for some of our…read moreproducts, which we regret getting because everything we bought, which was a farmhouse kitchen sink, a faucet with a pull down sprayer and a Craftsman front door ended up not worth it. Don't get me wrong, everything looks good, but the quality and craftsmanship of each product is low grade. We had to replace the faucet because the sprayer stopped working. We got a Kohler instead and couldn't be happier. Our farmhouse sink just doesn't drain properly. There isn't enough slope from the 4 corners of the sink to drain downwards towards the drain. You have to use your hand to move any food towards the drain. The Craftsman door though looks beautiful is poor insulated which cheap weather strips, not a tight seal. Here's the bottom line, if you want save a few bucks I guess, and don't care about quality, just looks, then this place is for you and for house flippers who put the cheap stuff in their homes when they rent them or sell them.
