Recommendation: Foster Custom Kitchens, 212 S Albany Street, Ithaca, NY 14850…read more Andy Foster phone 607-272-8102 It is rare that you experience a truly ethical business person who stands behind his products and service. My experience would be unbelievable if it didn't happen. Seven years ago we bought new kitchen cabinets from Andy Foster. After one or two years of use, we experienced some lack of quality and I began calling the cabinet maker for some advice but never received an answer to my messages. I continued to call the cabinet supplier over the next several years with no satisfaction. Foster Kitchens designed and supplied the cabinets but didn't manufacture them, but Andy agreed that the quality should have been better. Since we dealt with Andy Foster, he made the problem go away, at his expense. We had three wood craftsmen working in our kitchen these past few days, one of which was Andy Foster, correcting someone else's poor workmanship. No matter whether a company is an IBM or a locally owned business, things don't always go 100% right. How those businesses correct the problems, is what makes the difference. I want everyone to know about the ethical business that Andy Foster of Foster Custom Kitchens is running in Ithaca. If you ever consider a new kitchen, Foster Custom Kitchens is the only place to go. The Sunday before he was to start, we were supposed to meet for key and deposit exchange. He cancelled. The Monday he was supposed to start, we didn't meet until I got out of work at 4PM. Tuesday, he finally started painting. Wednesday he did not work, claiming he was at the E/R with his child all night. At this point I realized it was just him working, not a crew. He told me that he has to let one of his worker's go due to sexual harassment. Matt returned to work on Thursday. At this point, I noticed he was using my kitchen sink and bathtub to clean up. He was also using my trash can and my extension cord. Each day after he left, the house was a complete disaster. He did not paint one room at a time. So my entire home was a mess. I started to put pressure on him and then he showed up with another worker on Saturday and Sunday. The job was not 'finished' until the next Tuesday. As far as quality work, there are several areas in the house that you can still see the original paint through. Forget about clean lines from wall to trim. Paint on the floor. At one point he had to do some sanding in my bedroom. He covered the bed but neglected to cover my closests. ALL of my clothes had a layer of sawdust on them. I have tried to reach out since with a list of items that needs to be fixed but he has not responded and blocked me. NIGHTMARE !

I received a call from my old neighbor, Brenda and was told she had hired this company to do some…read morerepairs for her that were not done correctly. I ended up driving out to her house to take a look at what was going on after being told Elias would not respond to her calls after missing an appointment to come see what went wrong. When I got there, she showed me what he had done. He had replaced a leaking 90 in her pipe going to her hose bib. She explained that when she turned on the water shutoff to the pipe, she could hear water running. When she went outside to check there was water pouring out of the wall. I took the paneling off the wall and noticed he had caused a compression fitting to loosen when he put a 90 SharkBite in the leaking 90's place. As a contractor myself I understand these things happen, the problem I have is, he would have known there was a break if he would have turned the water back on to the pipe. He obviously did not check his work after, because the compression was not even attached anymore. After fixing it, I turned the water back on and the 90 was leaking. I noticed that it was never even seated the entire way. A quick push and it was back together. I also noticed that the pipe was dangling and allowing the bib to spin now that there was a SharkBite attached. I attached a pipe hanger as well as screwed the bib to the wall. Any contractor worth his salt would have at least checked his work and fixed the problems he created. I would not recommend this company.
