Great to have an IKEA near by. While this location is not a full size model, it has plenty of inventory to choose from. We were walking around for at least an hour taking everything in. They also had seasonal items for Halloween which was fun. The staff were very helpful. I couldn't find an item on the floor and said they had some in stock online. The employee took time help me track the item down. The food area has a more limited menu than the full size IKEA's. You can still get the classic meatball meal with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce. They also sold hot dogs and had a vegetarian option. The food was so tasty and very affordable for what you get. I think this is a great addition to Destiny. read more

I don't mind the industrial look of the store. The layout of the stores is maze of separate areas with no rhyme or reason and several dead ends One of the employees told me they are putting arrows on the floor but weren't finished yet.... I was not the only one who was lost. They have nicely designed products at very reasonable prices. There are carts and bags for shopping and the employees were very helpful. They all wear something bright yellow so they are easily found. The famous meatballs are tasty and they are served with mashed potatoes, gravy and a delicious berry sauce. Was so excited to hear we were getting an IKEA in Syracuse. Love IKEA and all the showrooms which always taps into my decorating creativity. Unfortunately, this was disappointing as there are very few decorated rooms. To me this was a wannabe IKEA. So happy we have an IKEA but wish we had the usual large than life store that I have grown to love. I was not a particular fan of self check out which was not intuitive and difficult to use. I mean... it's fine as far as IKEAs go, I guess? I've been to a couple full-size IKEA store locations, and this store location is significantly smaller (and that was noted as much when they put it in the mall and were promoting the opening, etc). In line with that, it doesn't have the variety of displays or more of the unique inventory that you'd find in a full-sized IKEA location... but it offers the basics. There's a small little section for food and snacks - including their signature Swedish meatballs, of course. Nice to have at least *some kind* of IKEA option nearby. read more

So fun to have an Ikea in Syracuse, even a mini one. Keep in mind that the footprint of this store is smaller than most locations and they don't have as much stock, but I believe you can order items they dont' have in stock for pickup, which is amazing, because what good are those Ikea deals if you have to pay mega shipping fees? As other reviewers have mentioned the self-checkout can be annoying perhaps if you have bigger items. And like most Ikea's, the store is pretty mazelike and it can be confusing to find your way back to the mall if you want to keep shopping. But, still pretty great and a great place to buy reasonably priced home goods. read more

On my drive from Cleveland to the Lake Placid area I decided to check out the new Ikea in Syracuse. This store is a slightly smaller store located in a large mall. Getting to the mall was easy enough, but finding the store was a bit more challenging, Google maps put me in the wrong part of the large mall and once inside the lack of maps and the poor signage meant I had some difficulty in finding the store. Once I located the store I found it to be a somewhat typical Ikea setup in that it had what seemed like the full display areas, but was missing the self service area, the full cafeteria and had a smaller check out area with a small fast service food area. It did seem to have all of the room displays, but not as much of the items you grab as you go through the store. This type of Ikea store seems like a good option if you are in the area, but not quite as good as a destination stop to shop. Still I would welcome one of these in the Cleveland area, but of course would prefer a full Ikea store. read more

First time at an Ikea and had no expectations or knowledge of what kind of store it was. It was a big store and very easy to get lost in it. The layout was confusing. The products however, were nice. There are some great deals and then most overpriced items. I bought a kitchen tableware set for $1 a piece. That was a steal. Furniture looks like good quality. There are a lot of items that I know could be purchased cheaper at a homegoods or Marshall's but it was a fun experience. We didn't try out the Cafe but it looked interesting. IKEA - Home Decor Near Me - Syracuse, New York

For all of the complaints that I've heard about this location being much smaller than usual, I was expecting a really watered-down experience. I was able to find virtually everything I normally look for at the Conshohocken location. I was disappointed that they don't stock the frozen vegetarian meatballs in Syracuse. If you've avoided going to Ikea Syracuse because of hearing friends or family ding the size, you've been misled. You should go. I enjoyed being able to get through the whole store in half the time and I really enjoyed not having to be trapped among so many people. read more

Every year I go to a convention near Paramus, NJ and we have to go to IKEA every time. I was excited to see a smaller version coming to Syracuse! It was fun to get lost in the maze of fun things I can never afford, and my new favorite food at the mall is the ikea meatballs! read more

AWFUL experience!! Please note this is a very small scale IKEA compared to others I have been in. There is no larger rugs, hardly any dishes and not many options in other areas. I did find some items, pulled up to the self service checkout just to be told by an employee that she feels like I didn't scan the tops to some containers. She searched the receipt and found that I did in fact scan them. She deleted my order and said she needed to scan it all herself to make sure we were not STEALING - her words! VERY bad customer service. Then one item rang up $9 when I know the shelf said $4. I made her walk back with me and the $4 price was for another item.. but that it was stocked about 4 feet away!! Talked with a manager who gave me the $4 price but was also snarky when I explained the situation. I WILL NOT RETURN!! read more

This is not the same IKEA that you are expecting if you have visited Paramus, Elizabeth or other cities. It is very scaled back and sparse. very limited furniture and they do not have the room set ups on display that you would normally see. The restaurant portion is also very minimal. I was hopeful, but I laughed feeling letdown. read more
