I was told by the woman who called that I can't do anything about her kicking me out. The next day I spoke with someone at the DC Tenants' Rights Center and found out she was so wrong with what she said. Don't waste your time here. Sometimes free advice is wrong advice. Trust me this office does not care about the tenant. It's worth it to pay a knowledgeable attorney.

One of the best services that DC government offers constituents. As an attorney (but not a housing…read moreattorney!) I truly understand the value of free legal assistance! I am an 11-year tenant of the same house in NW, but haven't had any major problems with the landlord until this year's lease renewal period. I called OTA in a panic, and was actually transferred right to an attorney who spoke with me for 15-20 minutes about my house's issues and what we should do -- I couldn't believe that I was put right through to an attorney, not to mention one who was willing to speak to me for so long and to give me advice and guidance! I followed up on his suggestions, and a week later went back to see him for a drop-in appointment to talk about what I'd found and get advice on the next steps we could take. I had to wait a little while to speak to the same attorney, but since I hadn't schedule an appointment it was totally understandable. He talked to me and my housemate for half an hour and helped us strategize to negotiate with our landlord. I can't explain what a relief it was to be able to thoroughly explore our issues and options with someone who knew what they were talking about. A+ service.

When it had stopped, I tried to turn my vehicle back on so I could move it to a better spot to call a tow truck but it wouldn't start. So I'm sitting here waiting for the tow truck still and a Parking Enforcement lady comes up and starts asking why I'm parked here. I tell her my car is dead and I'm waiting on a tow truck. She says huh like she couldn't hear me because there were sirens going off nearby, so I said it again louder and her response was "you don't need to get smart with me, I'll still write you a ticket if you gonna act like that to me". Seriously?!? So I said I everything again a normal tone and she decided to go back to her car and drive off. Seriously?!? I'm just parked in the middle of the road for the hell of it apparently, and stating why I'm stuck is being smart. Do better DC and hire people who aren't on a freakin power trip cause they're mad they are doing parking tickets instead of being a cop. Oh, and whenever I do park, I actually pay for parking unlike probably 80% of the people I see parking at grocery stores and such.

We are on the same boat. Please don't treat them like you own them, they are just doing their job. DMV is way worst than this. Trust me! My case was actually complicated and they were very friendly and kind. They do answer phone calls, they are very efficient and you'll not be treated here like you're dumb eventhough you don't know a lot of stuff. Make an appointment in advance to save your spot, if you do walk-in or you have to wait longer, go out for shopping or eat something. Like what I did. Don't worry, they do keep you updated on your waiting time. Kudos to all employees here specially to Ms. Clarence. THANK YOU, guys!

Basically theres an ongoing scam between filipino that they force filipino americans to default and mail their summons in different addresses in america. To combat these we signed a perjury complain affidavit for my cousins. So as soon as we got the affidavit, I sent my sister to the embassy, she drove 5 hours and we requested for an urgent processing to pick it up the same day as there is a strict 10 day deadline for the Philippine Prosecutor. This notary would not budge and told my sister that they will drop it off the next day and even refused to let us take a picture of the signed affidavit since we will email the signed affidavit to our lawyer and a signed receipt. She then accuse my sister of by questioning her why didnt we schedule an appointment sooner. Well, I scheduled this complain and this was the first available appointment. You need to explain to me what is more important than submitting to trying to meet a 10 day deadline to a criminal complain? Moreover, why are paying customers not allowed to take a picture of their very own signed form? Lastly and most importantly, why does it cost $25 to notarize a simple form?

My plan was to go to a cafe further down Georgia Avenue and this place pooped-up again put of the corner of my eye. I need to work remotely today, and working from Starbucks has kind of run its course. I would give this public library a score of 10 out of 10 in terms of all of the things that are important when you are working remotely. It's modern and even the tables and chairs are up-to-date and comfortable. I would say this library has to have been constructed within the last ten years. It's quiet and there's no loud cafe music, which is surprising. There's a 7-11 right across the street, and this important for the most I vikis reasons. I e already been here three hours, and I will probably stay here until 6pm. I will see how the day goes and I am already thinking to make this a spot for me.
