In addition to lumber they have a small shop with things you'd use for woodworking projects. Any time I am looking at bowed or mangled pieces of lumber at a big box store I wish I had just gone to L Sweet. I want to go back but their business hours are a bit limited during times I am free and my car is too small to handle most of what I would want to buy. It would be worth it to inquire about delivery - I should do that myself!

I spoke to Jim on the phone to book the service, and he was really friendly and helpful. He said his wife Rose would be in touch with a quote after I texted some pictures of the room. I don't know who I was texting with in the end. They quoted me $100. The two workers arrived right on time, were very polite, and did a beautiful job! However, they spoke no English and used a phone app to communicate. (You speak into the phone, they read the Portuguese that's generated, then they speak into the phone and it spits out English. Who knows how accurate it is.) I lived in a foreign country for 6 years and while I wasn't fluent, I had basic proficiency in the language... admittedly I worked in an industry where people spoke English, but for day-to-day things I was glad I could read and handle basic conversations. (This was pre-smart phone.) I'd love to hire Rose's Cleaning for their organizing service, but can't imagine how you'd do that with someone you couldn't talk to. They get good reviews for that, so maybe I'll try it. I'm skeptical but interested. If all you need is cleaning it probably doesn't matter that you can't communicate without a phone translator. Their work was beautiful and they were punctual and polite. All of that is great. I'm glad they could fit us in!

The patio and retaining wall look great. The project took longer than expected, but those delays were all on our side. We took longer than we should have to make various decisions about light fixtures, etc. We also changed the scope of the project a few times, adding more areas of walkways that we decided needed to be refinished with the stamped concrete. We had a full gut and renovation of our basement (it was a real turducken of a mess) and added some…read moreaesthetic details to our first floor entryway and living room. I can't overstate how wonderful the RH team is. We interviewed a lot of design + build firms and they won out (and were very patient along the way as we went back and forth with questions and requests to meet again... and again). This is the first time we've taken on a project like this and I had a lot of anxiety and concerns, and they helped every step of the way helping me understand the what ifs, the process, the opportunities of when or how to modify decisions, etc. We also have a very shy cat who requires some extra care when strangers are around, and the main builder on our project has been so accomodating and respectful of our needs to support her through the construction, and he ensured all other parties did the same. The quality of craftmanship is outstanding, not just the RH crew but all of their subcontractors as well. You will always hit bumps in the road along the way but I feel like we were in the best hands possible to navigate those bumps.
