As always Rouben and his team were professional , prompt , and considerate of my budget. They came in and did multiple small projects in my home and dealt with all the details - in a day or two they installed and updated my outdoor system and my kitchen exhaust. I trust the team to work on any project from big and small and would recommend them to anyone. read more

TLDR: We hired them to completely remodel our bathroom, redo the basement stairs, and they did a few other small things along the way. Rouben and his team were phenomenal. If you want quality work, excellent communication, and ease of mind, hire Build Pros. We originally wanted to have our microwave vented out (rather than circulating air and grease in the kitchen) and add a second banister to the stairs to the basement to make them more safe for our growing toddler. We were also considering having our spare basement bathroom remodeled. The bathroom really wasn't very functional because it was built in pieces (so the gross tiny stall shower wasn't even in the bathroom). That was a big job, and we wanted to get a quote for all three pieces. The first two jobs were too small on their own, so we hired Build Pros for all three. They were amazing to work with, and the work they did was the highest of quality. The team was extremely communicative, and we always knew when they were coming, what they were doing next, and what to expect. Their spreadsheet system made it really easy for everyone to keep track of what we had selected, costs, etc. They helped us a ton with design decisions, made recommendations when appropriate, and made sure we were happy with absolutely everything before moving forward. Our house stayed unbelievably clean, given the level of work they were doing, throughout the process. Mike and Rouben were fantastic at reimagining the layout of our bathroom, taking all of our priorities into consideration. John, their carpenter, is a master. We went way over budget, but a lot of that was my fault. I wanted a bathroom that was functional, but the more we talked and designed, the more I realized we actually could get a really *nice* bathroom that wasn't just functional, but high end. They did a bunch of other random things in the area too. We just were so happy with their work, and they were already there, so we asked them to fit in a few small things and they were awesome in getting those done too (adding a couple outlets in the adjacent home gym, replacing our outdoor water spigots, etc.). We are extremely happy with the final products. We even had a water problem shortly after they finished. They fixed it swiftly with no charge. It might have been a part issue or a labor issue, and so in the beginning it was unclear whether we were going to have to pay for repairs right away. I would have been very disappointed if they had charged us, and have all the more confidence in them since they fixed it and stood by the work and warranty. The only real negative was that sometimes when we had to make a decision, and the team gave us a quick "off the cuff" estimate about how much a few different options would cost, the estimate was really a fair amount lower than estimated. That contributed to some of our cost increase, but in the end I think we would have made the same decisions regardless. We're extremely happy with the final products. We even hired them again and they're starting work at my mother-in-laws house this week! I'm already dreaming of putting an addition on our house in the future, and we will hire them absolutely if/when we do this. read more

Rouben and his team were excellent. I almost hired another company to renovate our 35 year old bathroom. At the last minute I found BuildPROS and because of their excellent reviews, gave them a call. Rouben is a contractor that actually returned calls and texts throughout the process. The team was efficient, extremely neat and pricing was very transparent. He gave me some great ideas as we were making our selections and kept in touch throughout the process. Dan did the majority of the work and was very neat and clean and trustworthy. We are very pleased with the final result and I would use BuildPROS again in the future. read more

We had such a great experience with buildPROS. We have a small bungalow in Cranston that had a very outdated bathroom. We finally got around to addressing it and had several different quotes from other companies. We ultimately decided to choose buildPROS after Rouben came over and then sent us a very detailed estimate. Most importantly, he was willing to work with us to stay within our budget. He gave some us great ideas on the bathroom design and all of the unexpected issues (which there weren't a lot of) were addressed immediately. He was very easy to communicate with and his team was also great. Would highly recommend using them and have told friends and family about our experience. read more

Rouben and the buildPROS team are beyond excellent and are a team that I would highly recommend! We had excessive termite damage in our home's sill and joists and Rouben's team presented us with multiple options of how to fix the issue. Once we aligned on the best fix, Rouben and his team partnered with Terminix to implement a highly complex fix to our damaged beams while also allowing for remediation of the still-active termite issue. On top of this, when the project met some complications and went over-budget, Rouben and his team honored our original cost. On top of all this, Rouben's team was highly professional, did excellent work, and left our home looking cleaner than they found it when the job was done. Their craftmanship was fantastic. I will be going directly to buildPROS for all future projects and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of a contracting project, big or small. read more

Absolutely professional from start to finish. Rouben and Mike's team redid our kitchen, after a leak required demo of old cabinets and redesign of new ones plus sink, counter, hardware, etc. Alan Kooris did the cabinet design. They were respectful of our budget and time! My number one priority was communication and they fulfilled that requirement, keeping in touch with all types of updates, including project timelines, costs, ETAs, etc. Workspace was left clean and safe as we were still living in the space while the work was ongoing. I hope they are available for future projects, they will be my first call. read more

When we bought a new commercial building for our law firm, we needed a construction company that was local, experienced, easy to work with, and with the experience and know how to get the job done. Rouben, the owner, was responsive to us throughout the process. The process was as smooth as could be from the moment we started discussing our needs, generating a detailed proposal, and then executing on the project. As a lawyer, one satisfying part of working with Buildpros was the excellent communication. Rouben and team were proactive, using technology and photographs, and having everything in writing so we knew where we stood and what had to be done. We are very happy with the end result - if you need our personal injury law services, visit us at 1155 Newport Ave and you can see the craftsmanship from Buildpros! read more

Rouben and his team at buildPros renovated the 2nd floor of my 1860 farm house in Wakefield, RI. It was very challenging because the floors were very uneven. There was some ugly carpeting and old sheet linoleum. He completely redid one bathroom, partially renovated a 2nd bathroom, refinished some beautiful wide-plank pine underneath the carpet and put in luxury vinyl planking over one part of the floor that was too destroyed to be finished. The price was good (tied for lowest among 3 bids), Rouben's communication was fantastic, and the project came out great. Honestly, I feel like a king in my new bathroom. Rouben is clearly somebody who takes pride in his work. This is the kind of person/business I am happy to find in this anonymous/corporatized world we live in. read more

My partner and I are new homeowners, and shortly after we moved in, we discovered that our walk-in shower needed to be replaced. We found Rouben and his team on Yelp, and from the first contact, he was quick, responsive and helpful. We were working on a tight budget but still wanted a unique and beautiful shower, and Rouben was able to make everything fit within our budget, helping us cut costs where we could. They were able to complete the job within the short pre-Thanksgiving timeframe we needed, and it turned out beautifully. After the team left the first time, we experienced an issue with water leaking out of the shower door, and we contacted Rouben after Thanksgiving, and they were able to come back and fix the issue within 2 days, at no cost to us. We are very happy with them and are already considering contacting them again for another project! read more

BuildPROS did a fantastic remodel of our kitchen and bathroom. The outcome is exactly what was requested. The carpenters replaced all the wood work from the last remodel back in the 50's back to original style and design. Top quality job! I cannot speak highly enough of Rouben and his team (we worked most closely with him and Mike). The quality of work, communication, speed, customer service, everything was flawless. Great price too! We have a new custom catio (patio for our cats!) and it is sooo cool! Check out the photos! We had originally hired someone else for this project and after several months of poor communication, they stopped responding entirely. I called a few other places and everyone was so excited for the work but then didn't call back or show up. By the time I called buildPROS I was pretty frustrated and almost ready to give up on the project. Rouben answered my FIRST phone call, talked through the project with me on the spot, and then had his team out there in a matter of DAYS. They finished this project in only a couple of weeks and it came out AMAZING. Every question we had along the way was answered quickly, fully, patiently, and with options. They took the time to figure out what we wanted and to make sure that we got it. They helped us do this while still staying on budget. I felt like they genuinely cared that we were happy and even that they had some fun working on this! (As much fun as you can have lifting heavy things in the blazing hot sun.) I have pretty low expectations for contractors these days so I would have been happy with much less but they don't work that way. Honestly I didn't know there were contractors like this out there. Thanks guys for raising the bar! You have a new customer for life! read more

After approximately a year in my condo I decided to finally renovate my bathroom. This is a condo I currently live in but will soon lease out once a single family home is bought. After several consultations I decided on using buildPROS. Pros: - the owner Ruben is definitely trustworthy. After having someone who I hold in high regards speak highly of Ruben I decided that was good to me. He definitely seems like honest fellow - detailed scope of work and will provide updates for unexpected changes - took great efforts to work efficiently while ensuring dust was not exposed to other parts of home - Bathroom came out beautiful Cons: - PAINT. I am unsure who is used for painting but definitely not impressed. From missed parts to dried drip spots to even some dirty areas the paint was way less than stellar. I not only did touch ups but actually had to buy additional paint. Color was nice though! - Hallway floor transition to bathroom floor. While I was warned the marble block may become damaged during renovation, I also had something dropped on laminate wood floor threshold. Crack is very noticeable. Overall happy with job and since it's only small bathroom cons not big deal. Future big projects will definitely keep them in mind but will also probably continue looking around as well. read more

Rouben and his team were very professional, they arrived on time, they cleaned up after themselves and the project was finished on budget. I cannot emphasize enough how much I recommend them, very high quality work you will not be disappointed!! read more

buildPROS - General Contractors Near Me - Warwick, Rhode Island

We hired buildPROS for our small kitchen renovation. We have been debating whether to write this review, until this past weekend's deep freeze. Our kitchen water pipes were frozen by the past weekend's deep freeze. After we pulled out the dishwasher to gain access to the pipes, we found a 6" x 8" hole in the drywall that sits directly between the pipes and the exterior wall of our home (see photo). This hole was opened by buildPROS' crew for rerouting water source for the new kitchen sink location, and the hole was never patched up, providing direct access of frigid air from the exterior wall to the pipes. Is this ethical behavior? We will leave that up to the readers to decide. Rouben Balagian from buildPROS was recommended by our realtor, Mark Leeman (Rhodelife;Remax, RI). We are inexperience with the renovation process, and thought we could trust our realtor. It is understood by all parties that the remodeling project of our small-sized kitchen had a limited budget. We did not request many of the items in a full kitchen renovation (new flooring, paint, appliances, island), and we purchased many of the items ourselves. But is that valid a reason for a general contractor to justify breaking his promise in providing quality work? Here is the laundry list of our problems: 1. Rouben was always late to meetings, and did not provide needed attention a general contractor should provide during critical times. His lack of attention was part of the reason why we encountered so much trouble trying to resolve issues from the first granite installation by The Granite Shop (Everett, MA - see Yelp review for details), error in the rough plumbing for our deep sink, and other issues. 2. The project ran significant over time. Despite not being entirely Rouben's fault, he did allow his granite subcontractor to stall our project for 7 weeks that ended without a resolution. Towards the end, Rouben gave us a 1 week time line towards the finish that turned into a total of 5 weeks. 3. The mediocre quality of the work. We now have tails of two 2" nails coming out at the opening of an upper cabinet (see photo), one of which cut my arm. The tile grout was poorly done, and some has already started to come off. There are visible scratches to our new white cabinets and molding. 4. Despite understanding our small budget, Rouben still pressured us to pick a stove backsplash option that cost 8 times more than our solution. 5. His team made an unanticipated damage to a wall from relocating an electrical outlet, and have sent harsh emails to state that his company is not obligated to fix this problem. 6. The project went 16% over budget, and this amount does not include items we added after the initial contract. Rouben said that the final cost service was "way" below what it should have been. So does that mean Rouben never meant to stay on budget in the first place? 7. We were charged $500 for the kitchen design for a pencil sketch of the kitchen. The computerized layout was done by the cabinet company when we budgeted the cost. 8. For the final settling payment, he emailed out the final cost 15 minutes prior arriving our door to collect the payment. We barely had enough time to go through the Excel spreadsheet that included all the unanticipated costs added. The calculated closeout payment was $1200 over the actual amount we owed. We will leave the readers to speculate how this discrepancy occurred. Rouben spoke repeatedly of the integrity of his work, and said he went above and beyond to help us keep the project within the budget. He stated that we got a "deal" for the kitchen renovation. The scope of our small kitchen renovation was limited, which did NOT include new layout, flooring, island, paint, appliances. We also purchased a number of items ourselves. Considering that plus all the stress/problems we had to face and will continue to face in this brand new kitchen, we do not agree that we have gotten a deal, or the professionalism of a general contractor. We were so uncomfortable with the renovation from week 1 that we felt obligated to be on site to supervise at all times. The experience was awful to the extend that we wish we never went through with this renovation. read more

Rouben was a pleasure to work with throughout our remodeling process. We were first time home buyers with a vision. We interviewed several contracts and none were confident enough to give us what we needed. Rouben came in and pointed things out to us that we hadn't even noticed. His background at RISD helped him implement design ideas that most contractors never dream of. His computer software for quoting is amazing as well. It itemizes the scope of work nicely and breaks everything down so that I could understand it. All of BuildPros employees and sub-contractors were a pleasure to work with. All in all, we went from having a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath house to a 3 bedroom 2.5 bedroom house with all new electrical, plumbing, floors, kitchen, bathrooms, finished basement, window to door conversions and more. Moving forward I highly recommend Rouben to all my friends and would definitely use him again. Thanks for everything Roub! read more

So, we went back to Rouben with a really boring house project. Our roof leak came back and we realized it was because the ceiling of our basement was not properly supported, the sill was rotting away, and the house was slowly sinking, causing the roof to shift. Ah, the joys of living in a 100 year old house. Once Rouben's crew came in, it took just a few days to add new support columns, properly ground them, fix the sills, etc. We would have rather spent the money on a new bathroom (of course), but now we feel very confidant that our house isn't going to slowly collapse. He'll get to build our new bathroom someday . . . read more

We're first time home buyers and new to Providence. We gave Rouben a tight budget and time frame, and he came through for us. In three months, his guys put in a dormer (which required historical commission approval), completely remodeled a bathroom, raised our ceilings, refinished and stained 150 year old wood floors, fixed old electrical and framing issues, and added central AC/heat. We met every week to go over progress and went through the budget line by line. Derek was the foreman on our job -- really great guy, hardworking, and able to fix any unforeseen problems as they came up. It was a pleasure to work with him and the whole group. It's very reassuring to know that truly nice people are taking care of your home. We couldn't be happier. read more

Rouben helped us when we were at Wits End. We live in Oregon and had to have a family home in RI estimated and repaired after serious and unexpected flood and freezing damages. Rouben inspected and evaluated the damages, met with the insurance estimator and represented us throughout that trying process. As a result of his efforts and negotiations we received a fair compensation from the insurance company for the damages and future renovation. Rouben's detailed analysis of the situation and doggedness to get every last bit we deserved paid off. He has some interesting ideas to use that compensation to make much needed bath and kitchen upgrades. We plan to sell the house as-is now we have completed the insurance estimate. BUT if we need to remodel to sell we will surely go with Rouben and his team. Our thanks to him for his professionalism and caring attitude. We will happily give him a great referral. His prices are very reasonable - we gave him a bonus because we were so appreciative of a job well done. read more
