Where there was some rotted wood found underneath the old siding, it was replaced. Steve is absolutely meticulous, to the point of OCD. The job was be done perfectly, starting with a laser to mark level around the house, to special-ordering long siding panels to eliminate all the seams mere 12' panels leave. The complex work around the two walk-out bays and the power/meter took days, but everything was carefully measured and fitted . Steve also had some very creative suggestions, particularly trim above the front door and windows. This work, when done properly, takes both time and skill. Steve and Rick are neither the fastest nor the cheapest. If you want a slap-dash job by swarm of aliens, with one English-speaking supervisor, perhaps for a "flip," go with some big remodeler. It will be done quickly. However, f you want your house remodeled by a craftsman, who will pay close attention to all the details and work until he satisfies both you and himself, hire SEC.

So, since our house needed to be painted, we decided to give the contract to them to paint the exterior of our 1927 home which has a lot of trim work, railings, finials, etc. Another great job completed on schedule and within budget. We even had them do a few extra fixes to long-standing problems other contractors either created or never fixed properly like a bathroom vent, etc. We've worked with lots of contractors for small jobs to entire "gut rehabs" and more important than price (though they are very competitive), Matt and his team are honest, attentive, and committed to ensuring your job is done properly and with integrity - not common among the contractors we've worked with over the years. As I further spoke with Mike I became aware that a good friend uses his services regularly in his real estate business. I then spoke with Mike about a tileback splash in my kitchen. The job turned out exceptional. Mike listened to me and the finished job was done in a timely and professional manner. Mike quoted both the small tile job and backsplash job separately but we agreed on a price that was acceptable to both of us. Basically Mike gave a better price if he completed both jobs. I would not use this company again. I contracted Colin to remove some dirt and debris from my yard…read more Prior to the job start, I met Colin at my house and he explained his process and I detailed what I wanted done. He specifically stated that they would use a shovel to hand dig around the asphalt so they wouldn't cause any damage. The day of the job he brought in another gentleman to operate the excavator. The operator went straight into a pile of debris right by my asphalt and took a 10"x10" chunk out of it and caused a crack leading to my house. All 3 of us were there and witnessed this happen. I asked them about it and neither of them acknowledged my question and continued to work. Before we started I showed them a back section of the yard I specifically wanted gone. Colin kept saying that he understood what I was asking, but they kept excavating the wrong part of the yard. I continued to try to clarify that wasn't what I was looking for and then Colin just walked away from me in a huff. I then went up to the operator himself to try and explain and the response I got was "I'm trying really hard to be nice to you right now" . Which was a surprisingly aggressive response to receive when you're asking the people who are removing dirt on your property to remove the correct dirt. At the end, the operator dumped a bucket of dirt over the crack to intentionally cover it up and then he left the job site without letting me know he was leaving or confirming with me that the job was done. Colin was ready to leave as well, but thankfully I hadn't paid him yet, so I went back over to the crack to address it with him. It was only after I called him out for it A SECOND TIME at the very end that he took responsibility and acknowledged the damage. Colin did have someone come out and fix the asphalt, but only because he got caught. If you do use him, make sure you supervise the entire job.
