So this is the second time I had asked Robert to come over and put on some wall hangings. I have to say he is just awesomeeeee! He is sweet, easy to talk to and will adjust hangings on multiple requests. Best thing is that he always explains the logic behind any anchor or different work. His charges are quite a reasonable. I've hired Robert for many different home repair needs -- so far 4 different occasions. 1. The weight of clothes hanging in our closet caused the wooden rod-plastic rod holder to break. 2. Broken closet door. 3. I called Robert out to install a whole house fan, a new master bathroom fan and replace another bathroom fan. His quote was very fair and he knew what I was talking about, not like some of the other people I talked to so I went ahead and gave him the job. Robert came out 3 days in a row since you can only work in the attic until it gets to hot and did non stop work with great care. He always checked with me on the locations of the vents he was going to install, timer controls on the wall and any issues he might have found while working in my house and even corrected some electrical issues we found from the previous owners. I thought it was time for an updated review for RG Handyman Service. I first hired Robert in October of 2013. At that time I was sort of trying him out on a variety of "smallish" type projects. He did some baseboards, installed a toilet, installed towel racks and robe hooks, and put in new electrical wall plugs throughout my house. All the work he did was perfect but beyond that I liked his demeaner and his respect for my home. Over the following years I've called Robert for anythng that goes wrong in my house. Two years ago on Thanksgivng my fridge and my furnance both went out. I waited til the following Monday to call Robert. He came out right away and solved the immediate problem which was a faulty circuit breaker. He also tested both the fridge and the furnance to make sure there wasn't a problem with either of them that caused the circuit breaker to blow. A couple of weeks ago my front door lock broke. I was very stressed over findng a new set of locks and hardware (double doors) that would fit. Robert to the rescue! He took the whole knob and lock out, saw what was wrong, fixed it, and put the whole thing back together. The lock was fixed and I was VERY happy. That day he also fixed a patio screen door latch, a fence gate latch, and fixed a bedroom door that wasn't closing properly. Two days ago I had Robert back again. This time it wasn't to fix broken things but to install some new things. He put in some LED light bars in the garage and also installed a ceiling fan in the family room. As usual his work was impeccable. I have what I call my "treasure box" of names of contractors that I think are really good at what they do, are responsive to phone calls or emails, and show up. [ I have been in the trades over 18 years.] To be fair he did announce his hourly rate right off the bat but I was in a corner and had heard good things so went forward. No skills, no experience and very very slow. Skip this guy if your job is little more involved than simply changing bulbs or door knobs. I asked him to re-install a pair of sliding-bifold doors because the original hardware that came with the doors was broke and wouldn't hold doors. I bought new hardware and asked him to install. He appeared very busy and gave an appointment 2 weeks out which I thought was sign of a good handyman. But it was not the case. On the day of appointment he came 15-20 mins late, looked at the job and said he could do it. I asked him if it was doable and if he sees any problem with the hardware I bought. He said no issues, its doable. He spent 1.5 hours (which is very slow) working them and then said they cannot be installed because doors with the new hardware are too big to fit in the opening. Remember these were not new doors, they existed there. He still charged for the time and left. I expected him to measure and make a judgement if would fit or now, that is what a pro is. I would have paid him to show up but I would not have felt cheated. read more

I used him to fix my door that needed to be rehung as it didn't close very well. He charged me 95/hour which is really high for a handy man service and it took him an hour and a half for 120 to just to file the strikers and to adjust door hinges. It didn't even fix the problem fully so he says he would charge me 75 to cut the door on the bottom to fix the problem fully. That's 200 to just rehang the door correctly! I should have gotten a quote but like a dumbass I didn't. My fault. Won't use him again. read more

I have used Robert as a handyman on three occasions over the past year and have been impressed by his promptness on returning phone calls, his skills (he can do pretty much anything around the house from painting to plumbing to electrical), and his friendly manner. He has patched a hole in my drywall and painted, installed outdoor motion light and a shelf, and even hung a problematic, heavy picture I wanted to be hung over my bed. The only drawback is he has such a full schedule that it often can take several weeks to get an appointment and he does not come on weekends.
