It's unbelievable how many positive reviews this shop has on Yelp. A lot of them seem to be from first timers that got a quick oil-change, some wipers replaced -- maybe breaks or some other basic maintenance service. However, I'm an honest reviewer with an old car with real issues. I am not reviewing this business on a first impression, but more so my experiences over the course of nearly two years of dealing with them. At first they were great, but each time I returned, prices increased while service and honesty gradually declined. Ultimately, I was charged nearly $200 for work so questionable that even an amateur mechanic wouldn't have done it. When I first visited, I was greeted respectfully by Stephen, who gained my trust by offering a fair price on a repair. He was polite, professional, and seemingly honest--likely because he knew I was shopping around and comparing quotes. I left feeling content, believing I had found a trustworthy and communicative mechanic. On my second visit for routine brake and rotor service, Stephen wasn't there, so I had to deal with Rey. He immediately tried to upsell me on more expensive rotors instead of simply resurfacing them. While not a huge red flag, it was odd. Unlike Stephen, Rey lacked communication skills, but I figured that wasn't a deal-breaker. Mechanics don't need to be great communicators--just skilled at fixing cars. I paid a bit more than expected but was assured the parts were high-quality. However, not long after, my brakes started squeaking, making me question that claim... On my third visit, I explained an issue with my A/C to Stephen. His first response was, "Hey, are we the first mechanic you've seen about this?"--an odd question, to say the least. Rey then directed me to pull my car into the garage in a way that felt unnecessary and a bit uncomfortable, but I followed instructions because Stephen had earned some trust. The quote I received was on the high side, but I was willing to pay for quality work. After waiting for hours in the hot sun (their only seating area is outside), I was approached by another employee--let's call him "Bubba" since I never got his name. "Bubba" usually stays in the office handling billing, occasionally stepping out to chat with friends or check on his dog, which he keeps chained outside while he enjoys the A/C. He informed me, "Hey, we decided to check your oil, and some of it evaporated, which is common in the summer." Instead of simply topping it off, they charged me for a full oil change and filter, I have never heard of oil "evaporating," but I let it go. By the fourth visit, I was reluctant to return, but finding a competent mechanic is difficult. This is when I realized they have no appreciation for repeat customers. If you keep coming back, they start treating you like a sucker--overcharging and gaslighting you. I was told my A/C issue was due to a leak in the pipes. No dye, no diagnostic equipment--just Rey's "expert eye" identifying the problem. Any experienced mechanic knows that leaks need to be pinpointed using dye or specialized tools. I hesitantly agreed to the repair, and sure enough, my A/C stopped working the next day after all the freon leaked out again. I called multiple times but got no answer, so I drove to the shop--twice--only to be told both times that it was "too late in the day" to help me. On my final visit, Bubba was deep in conversation with a friend about non-business matters, completely ignoring me for five minutes while the phone rang off the hook. When he finally decided to give me a moment of his precious time, I explained my situation. He flatly told me the shop was full and I'd have to come back. I reminded him this was my second time returning, and he just shrugged. As I was leaving, Stephen called out, "Hey, you came too late! We don't have time for you!" I explained that I had called, but no one answered. His response? "You have to call me directly on my cell." How was I supposed to know that? A business should answer its listed phone number--it shouldn't be on the customer to figure out some unspoken rule about personal cell numbers. Meanwhile, they had misdiagnosed my car, charged me, and then refused to prioritize fixing their mistake. Never mind the time I wasted driving there twice. Never mind that I was a repeat customer. None of it mattered--it was somehow my fault for not having Stephen's personal number. In the end, I had my car repaired elsewhere. The actual issue? A leak--but in a completely different area than what they had claimed. It was my evaporator coil, which was 10 years old and leaking an enormous amount of freon. Nothing to do with the tubing. I will NEVER, I repeat NEVER set foot back into this business. Customer beware! This place WILL eventually overcharge you. read more

It's no exaggeration to say its hard to find a good, trustworthy mechanic in Miami-Dade. Miami is my second home, as it plays a major role in my career. On November 27th of '21 I arrived in the city after a 20 hour drive from Detroit, Michigan. Descending through the mountains of North Carolina, my truck was presented with some cooling issues. Due to the symptoms my truck was exhibiting, I was beginning to fear the worst almost expecting head gasket damage. Fortunately the truck and I made it to Miami safely, but I wasted no time doing some research to find Rey's Auto Repair. Upon dropping my truck off at Rey's (walk-ins are welcome), I presented my situation in that I needed my truck in order to complete the work I was in Miami for, but also that the truck needed to make the 20hr drive the following week. I then left my truck in the hand of Rey's Auto Repair, and went about my day. Rey's called me back within an hour to inform me that not only were they able to get my truck in, but already found the root cause to my problems. Fortunately the fix only called for a radiator & upper hose. I suspected the possibility of head gasket damage, and potential catalytic converter burn-out, which weren't the case. Most shops - not just in Dade county, would jump at the chance to replace cats. in order to profit not only on labor, but also the core charge of the old units. Rey's did no such thing. They found the root cause, and did not in the least try to stiff me on upcost, or anything of the sort. These guys are incredibly honest, genuine, good people and great mechanics. Their shop is damn near spotless, which is hard to come by in and of itself. Personally, I love their location - Little Havana, located just a few blocks from Calle Ocho. It's perfect distance to walk for cafecito, or breakfast/lunch while you wait. Highly, HIGHLY recommend Rey's Auto Repair in Miami. If you need car repair in Miami, look no further. No cap. I should have written this review a while ago, but better late than never. The service was incredible. After making arrangements to take the problematic car to another Auto Repair shop near Rey's and then being turned away after driving all the way there I called Steven. It was 4:30pm on Christmas Eve when I called Steven from the other repair shop and was told to please bring it to him and he would have a look at it immediately. After doing a diagnoses on the vehicle and then not being able to replicate the problem he offered to keep the car for a few days to try and replicate the problem. To make a long story short Steven ended up keeping it all the way until New Years Eve but was unable to replicate the problem. The shop was not open on New Years Eve, but Steven arranged to meet me at 11:00 am so I could pick up the car. He charged me nothing for the diagnostics and all he did because he said he did not find and correct the problem. It has been a long time since I have found anyone in any business as honest and customer friendly as Steven. I can not recommend him strongly enough. I would not hesitate sending my daughter to Rey's because I know she would never be taken advantage of. read more

I moved from California about a year ago which made me dread finding a mechanic I trusted in a new city. I bought a new car last October and less than a month later, I got a nail in my tire. Toyota suggested I paid for a new tire (too expensive!) so I went to Rey's Auto Repair after reading the amazing reviews to see if o could save hundreds of dollars. It costs me more to go get a drink in south beach than to get my tire patched up!! Steven was SO welcoming from the beginning and made me feel like I could trust him. He patched my tire in a matter of minutes and after seeing my maintenance sticker on my windshield he suggested I didn't wait 5,000 miles to get my oil changed. My maintenance light finally went on today and I decided to bring in my car for its very first oil change. No appointment needed, no 3-hour wait, no rude workers trying to go home after a long day. So grateful to have found Rey's Auto Repair. Waited 15-20 mins for my oil to get changed under the shade... oh and did I mention my tires are still intact? I cannot tell you how much I appreciate Rey's Auto Service. Our Trailblazer's power steering system cooler rusted through as we entered the garage at the Port of Miami on March 17, 2018. We had to leave on a cruise in a couple of hours so couldn't deal with it for a week -- on May 24th. We found Rey's on Google and called them because of his rating and reviews. We talked with Steven a couple of times, and he agreed to look at it when we returned. We had the truck towed to Rey's, and Steven diagnosed the problem. Recommended a GM part that would not be available until Monday. Steven had an associate drive us to the car rental place, and we rented a car and drove 200 miles home. On Monday Steven called me twice to advise of the status of the repair, and again when it was completed. His charge was VERY reasonable, and he did not replace any parts that were unnecessary. He could easily have done that. We drove back on Tuesday and picked up the truck and drove it home without any problem. I'd recommend Steven (I hope I am spelling Steven correctly) and Rey's without question. They are great. Top notch in every respect. read more

Miami, FL. I had a great experience with Steve and his coworkers! The car had been to this garage before and they remembered it. They were very welcoming (as the new owner) and directly underway to help me out. I was waiting for diagnosis across the street, got a call and video from Steve what was going on. I went over and he showed me the repairs in person. As a non-technician, anybody can tell me anything and charge me for it. By showing me what was wrong, Steve gave me confidence that he was legit. He even said, "normally a mechanic would charge you to change all 6 coils, but that is just while 2 new ones are needed (showing the broken ones). I had a little this and that after leaving, so I went back and they checked the car again and fixed the problem; all included in the price. Price/quality is very good. I will spread the word! Steven is one of the best and most knowledgeable mechanic I've ever met, when talking to him, you can tell he is genuine and gives you 100% facts about your car, goes straight into detail.. a couple months ago I looked up places to change my oil for my BMW for a decent price and Rey's Auto Repair Service came up on the top 5, I took my car and told him other issues with my car and without hesitation, he did a complete computer diagnostic to pinpoint the problem just out of great customer service...I recently had a gas leak and took it back to Rey's Auto Repair Service because of the amazing customer service, Steven ordered the part and completed the job the same day! And at an amazing deal too! I'm very grateful for this guy especially having an expensive car, you go anywhere else, you'll get charged an arm and a leg with bad service. Had to take take my truck to Reys because it was pouring fluid from my water pump, talked to Steven and a few of the other guys and they were able to diagnose it in 10 minutes and began working on it immediately. I thought it was going to be a big job but they assured me it would be a 1 day turn around and I could come get my truck back the next day. They lived up to their word and had it ready in less than 24 hours which is unheard of in Miami from my experiences. Definetly recommend these guys, there very fast and very affordable. It was also nice that they send you pictures of all of the work theyre doing on your vehicle as they progress with it. In addition they let me know if I have any problems with the parts they installed that there was a warranty and just bring it back to the shop. I never do reviews but this shop is amazing! I spoke with Steven who treated me more like a friend than a customer. In this town, relationships like these are hard to come by. They give good prices and treat you like human beings should treat each other. I had a crazy situation involving 2 tows, massive uncertainty and worry. Steven reassured me and gave me very good deals. Also, they tell you what's wrong and explain the issue. He even let me tow the car to the shop at night where he met me me there and assured me he'll look at it in the morning and did. I've been looking for years in Miami to find a place/mechanic I can trust and I'm glad I did. This is my go-to shop! I had a 2000 ford expedition with countless problems: the windows didnt go up or down, fuses would blow, one headlight didnt work amd it wasn't the bulb, the ac was stuck on defrost, engine noise, etc... I had taken my car to many shops but no one could figure out all the problems. Then I discovered Reys because of their reviews on google. They took in the car, and fixed everything! Service was great amd they took the time to inform me of every problem as they found it. In the end, it was like i had a new car. I was expecting a high bill, and the price was very reasonable. Seriously so thankful for Rey's Auto Repair Shop. I drive a Dodge Durango and randomly the other day my check engine light came on along with some other issues. In search for a good auto shop I came along Rey's, and I will never go anywhere else! I spoke to Steven on the phone who right away said I could bring the car in and that he would have it done within the hour!! I was sooo appreciative of this because usually car shops have long lines and can't get to you're car right away. Anyways, after they called me to confirm my car had been fixed, they gave an amazing price! Usually car repair places trying scamming people for money but not Rey's. I've been coming here for roughly 7 years and my dad has been going over 9 years. We've brought all of our different cars from Jetta, Bettle, Explorer, Lexus, and BMW, and they're the best. I drive all the way from Pembroke pines to get my car done with them. They have the best prices in oil change, tires, etc., and don't try to upsell you on anything. If you need tires, they will tell you how long you have with the current tires and if possible, put the less used ones at the front. They are very dependable, upfront, and honest about their work and what the car needs. I can call last minute on the weekends and they will let me know until what time I can bring my car in. Took my truck last week to a mechanic shop cause my truck was shutting off while I was driving they told me I needed a bunch of sensor and a new fuel pump and I know a lil of mechanics I didn't think that was right so I looked more on yelp and found "Rey's auto repair" in the heart of lil Havana. Took my truck there and was able to meet the owner and staff. They were very helpful and honest they took a look at my truck and told me I had a broken wire leading to my fuel pump and that's why it was shutting off they fixed it and charged me a very low low price so I gave them a good tip.
