He came to my house for the scheduled consultation and gave me the best price. After seeing my lawn, I asked if he could fix my sprinkler and lay out landscape fabric and mulch to prevent weeds and maintenance. He said he would measure what I need once he finishes the lawn cleanup, which I liked. The day came, and he cut my grass and cleaned up the weeds in my lawn. He also capped a broken irrigation line I had from the previous owner of the house without any issues and installed the new sprinkler I had mentioned. He measured my lawn and gave me the price for the mulch with a landscape barrier. I agreed, and he went to Home Depot to pick up the materials in his truck. When he came back, he laid down the barrier and mulch to perfection. He also went the extra mile by removing the sprinkler heads that aren't needed anymore, which I appreciate about him. All in all, Tony is the man for the job. He's easy to communicate with, and he works hard. I will recommend him to my neighbor, who is looking for a new gardener, and will hire him again for my next lawn project. Thanks, Tony!

Unfortunately, I need to update my original review after several months of residential gardening…read moreservice from Lona's. The issue is not with the actual work, but rather the business model and lack of communication. We have since moved on to another gardening service. Luis wants guaranteed business by charging a monthly fee to show up 2x/month year round. However, for simple lawn/hedge trimming and leaf clean-up, the amount he charges does not make sense. We struck a deal with him for ad hoc service, because nothing grows in the dry months of summer. However, we had a "no-call, no-show" during the rainy season when he had told us multiple weeks in a row that he would come by. When he finally showed up weeks later, he decided to charge us TWICE for overgrowth. Had he shown up the first time he said he would, that would not have happened. It seems he decided our business was no longer worth his time, so he decided to extract the most cash he could from us before we moved on. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Lona's to anyone after this experience.

He stopped by and asked if I need some services; which I said yes as you can see. (I joked with him that I'm a disgrace to my race; being half Japanese; that I hated gardening.) We went through the stuff to trash and to keep. Fortunately for me he had some time the same week. He is very responsive when texting. As a person, he is very polite, attentive to any concerns you may have, and overall seems like a very kind hearted individual. He was working with his Father, and had a couple of gentlemen to stop by to help pick up some of the heavier items. I would highly recommend to reach out to Luis to get a quote on any projects you may have. I know his number will stay in my phone for any future needs. Mahalo Nui Luis, great job.

New sprinkler heads, valves and automatic water system set up. Alejandro was so professional and friendly. He came out and provided a quote, was there bright and early yesterday with a colleague. He left after discussing what would happen and told us to reach out if we needed anything. His one guy spent all day digging out, flushing and replacing all the sprinkler heads. Water was turned off for only about an hour as he replaced all 5 water valves. Then Alejandro came back at the end of the job to set up the automatic water system and test everything one last time. My folks are elderly and have been neglecting their lawn and so many sprinkler heads were completely buried, and the water timer was at least 30 years old. I would use Hidden Gem Landscaping again in a heartbeat!! Already recommended them to friends for other projects.
