My wife and I first fell in love with Rey's back when we would go to the Penn Hills and later the Monroeville location. We were excited that there was a Rey's in Butler when we moved here a few years ago. Initially, the food at Rey's was good...not as good as the Monroeville location...but good nonetheless. The last 2 times we went however, the food was bland and boring. We get that they have to cater to a wide range of people, but Mexican food without Mexican spices and no hot sauce is NOT authentic Mexican food. Nothing was seasoned properly. This place is definitely one of the best mexican resturant I had ever been to. Once i got there, I was quickly brough to my seat, which I always find it such a burden to have to wait for a seat. Thankfully, this place is not like that. The waiter was a extremely nice and brought everything i asked for (The Speedy Gonzales). We were given salsa and then given some of the most delicous cheese i had ever had in my life! I could not get enough of it, the food came very quickly after being ordered. The interior was so beautiful, It really made me feel like i was in mexico, haha. The food was the best part of the entire experience, the Speedy Gonzales was the most amazing food ever, everything was very crispy, with the most amazing flavors you could ever imagine, and the taco had the most amazing crisp-fried tortial shell. 5/5 stars for this place! Butler, PA is not really a place that comes to mind when I think of Mexican food. However, they have a hidden gem, Rey Azteca, that serves delicious good consistently. Its a small, cozy place and really sets the atmosphere for a great meal! Queso is always delicious here as well as their fajitas! I have been trying their different enchiladas and sauces, and I have not been let down once. My favorite item so far is their enchiladas suzaias! Stopped by Rey Azteca for a to-go order of Nachos with chicken and an order of Ceviche! Wow -- taste was terrific and presentation showed the extra care they put into their food. My daughter and I stopped in at 1 pm on a Saturday. We were seated promptly. We ordered the Cheese dip, Guacamole dip, and Taquitos, one chicken and one beef. For our entrees we had Chicken Burritos Deluxe and Pork Burrito with salsa verde. Everything was served quickly. All the food was fresh, hot and they were generous portions with plenty of meat. My daughter was delighted that there wasn't a lot of spice to upset her delicate stomach. I was disappointed that there wasn't a lot of spice to excite my palate. I had to take half of my burrito home for lunch the next day, where I gave it a generous splash of green jalapeño salsa. I didn't see Jalapeños on the menu and would suggest they either be added or if I missed them make them bolder lol. That would allow the wussies like my daughter to order the regular fare and the heat seekers like me to be appeased. Service was excellent and the place was very clean. We were both too full for dessert. Maybe next trip we will have dessert as our appetizer since there were some really tasty looking options. We also noticed that a liquor license has been filed for. Can't wait to have something a bit stronger than the iced tea and root beer with our next visit. We will definitely be back. read more

Low review strictly based on price. I miss the old location where the prices were lower and quantity better. Just ate there myself and the same meal and drink would've cost me $3.00 at the other location. One thing that is also bothersome is they give you chips and skimp on the salsa. Three words: chicken & cheese flautas. They're not healthy, but they're covered with a great queso sauce that I would buy by the bottle. If you have given this place less than 5 stars, you haven't tried this yet. Some of their other offerings aren't so great, but I'd give them 6 stars because of the flautas. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chalupas, chilis relleno, and the barbara were among the dishes that landed on our table--every one of them delicious and...surprise...cheap, cheap, cheap. My great regret--now that I read the other reviews--is that I didn't get the flautas. I was "this close" but decided not to be over-indulgent. Damn! I love the place. Look in this area you're not getting better. So when you put aside the ability to get better. That earns the place points. You must understand this part of PA sucks. Pros: #1 The food is within the same Universe if not better than what I had in Mexico on my many trips. Which is saying something. #2 The prices are reasonable. #3 The staff are nice. #4 They are consistent. #5 They serve Mr.Pibb. I HATE Dr.Pepper so for me this was an awesome little tid bit. #6 The place is always clean. #7 When you are eating look up you'll see a look of pure enjoyment on every face around you. You won't see people complaining. #8 They made the Choco Taco BETTER. In my opinion the Choco Taco is the best premade frozen Mexican desert you can find. Coming from northern VA which is way more easy to access food from other ethnicity. Being sole Mexican/somewhat Spanish restaurant here in Butler, definitely nothing you can't compare to.
