There will be times where your waiter isn't even done placing your order on their tablet when someone's running out your drinks and apps. It's magic. This location holds up the same standard as Houston, and all in the humble city of Butler. The last two times we've visited this location, we've been served by James, who's a recent transplant from Texas Roadhouse and he's always so authentic and a pleasure to dine with. I'll say it loud and I'll say it proud - I have never. And I mean NEVER. Seen my Mom eat like she did at this Chili's. I'm pretty sure she blacked out. She inhaled the Smokehouse Combo she shared with her partner and was reaching across the table to dip into my sauces. This was her first time at Chili's. We had a phenomenal time. I was in Butler, PA for business and decided to try Rey Azteca Mexican Restaurant based on a recommendation from my hotel. Nestled in a strip mall, I initially wondered about the quality of the food, but I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere exudes authenticity with its Mexican decor, setting the stage for a delightful dining experience. As soon as I sat down, they promptly brought complimentary chips and salsa, a welcoming touch. Starting with a cup of Mexican-style chicken noodle soup, I was impressed by the abundance of shredded chicken, green onions, and cilantro. It was flavorful and comforting, setting the tone for the rest of the meal. Opting for the Vegetarian Fajitas, I was greeted with a sizzling platter overloaded with veggies, accompanied by rice, refried beans, guacamole, lettuce, and sour cream. The portion was so generous that I couldn't finish it all! Checo, my server was swift and attentive throughout the meal, adding to the overall positive experience. In conclusion, Rey Azteca exceeded my expectations with its delicious food, authentic atmosphere, and attentive service. Good simple Mexican foods at a nice affordable price! The fajitas have a simple flavorful seasoning to it making them just right. The mole and chili con carne sauces are on point. The guacamole is average, but the salsa has a nice kick which forgives the guacamole let down. The beans and rice are actually some of the best in their category that I've ever had, somehow! I've been the Mexico plenty of times, and I've lived in the heart of Mexican southern California, but I keep coming back to this spot. I don't taste much authenticity in their food, but they have flavor. I give it a 4 stars for their mix of just mediocre service, and the lack of fresh ingredients. Rey Azteca is a very great place to get authentic Mexican cuisine. They have a huge menu with a lot of different choices. They have something for everyone-kids, adults, and even vegetarians. They give you humongous drinks, which is useful for anything spicy you get. You automatically get an order of homemade chips and salsa, which can be very filling...and addicting. Within I'd say about 5-10 minutes you have your meal in front of you. Rey Azteca has very good service, quality, and price. I would definitively go there if your looking to eat affordable, authentic, and great tasting Mexican food. read more

We didn't expect to find decent Mexican food in Johnstown, but Rey Azteca changed our minds. During our many visits, we enjoyed various enchilada dinners. Both the Enchilada Supreme and the Enchilada Problanas were excellent. We would also recommend the Chili Rellenos. Be aware that the Rey Azteca in Butler does not serve alcoholic beverages. If you want a Mexican beer or Margarita, you will have to drive to Johnstown. read more

Everything is good....and prices are affordable. I would recommend one of the combination meals so you can try an assortment of food. My favorite is the Chicken Chalupa. Love the chips and salsa that's brought out while you're looking at menu!!! My only complaint would be the booths in the back room are a little crammed. My family and I went to Rey Azteca twice for dinner when we stayed visiting in Butler, PA. It was delicious! The food was amazing and the people were so nice!
