Ok we tried this place because a local from Butler RV (where we just bought a new camper) told us about it and we are so glad he did, the food was awesome. I know this sounds silly, but I love this place simply because when I say "No Cheese, please", they understand that means on the whole plate, not just the main course part. It's the little things that make a restaurant stand out, and when you have a milk allergy, this is a big little thing. This is the real deal. The best Mexican food! My recommendation is anything with shrimp. I love the shrimp burritos! They put in a lot of big shrimps. Little known fact...BOYB! It's not bad, but there is no other Mexican restaurant in butler so I can't hate it much. I've be to other restaurants in other states and this one doesn't even compare, the guacamole is horrible, the salsa is bland and has no spice to it. I've only been here 2 times in the last 4 years, I only went back because my wife is pregnant and wanted Mexican food. And the prices suck. Your better off making your own. read more

When out of town we always look for mexican restaurants. We stopped for lunch and had a great experience. When we first sat down was served chips and salsa which the salsa was one of the best salsa's we've ever had. I had Chori Pollo (chicken and chorizo dish) which was delicious and something different than typical Mexican fare. My wife had the lunch sized faitias which was excellent. The refried beans were also very good. The service was very good and waiter was friendly. Would definitely come back when in the area. read more

I was in Butler for a conference and my coworkers and I decided to give this place a try. I usually go for Mole whenever I find it at a Mexican restaurant, so I ordered the Mole Ranchero, a chicken flauta, and a beef flauta. All of them were delicious, and I had not expected the portions to be so great! I ended up taking half of the mole back to the hotel. Good service, and the complementary chips and salsa were tasty as well. Prices are excellent, and I would not hesitate to go back the next time I'm in town. read more

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I must write a review of my favorite local Mexican restaurant. Rey Azteca is as authentic as it gets in the entire Pittsburgh area. Don't be fooled by the "hole in the wall" vibes that the exterior of their building gives off -- this place is top notch and a very well run restaurant. We've been going to Reys since they first opened. At first it seemed as if only the owner spoke English (in addition to Spanish), but now much of the staff seems to be bilingual. Being able to speak some Spanish while dining adds to the atmosphere, as does the traditional Mariachi band type music. Yes, the parking lot is small, but we've always been able to find a spot. Despite the size of this small restaurant, we've never had to wait for a table. Of course, we're usually dining fairly early because we have little kids in tow. Chips & salsa appear almost magically before you've barely settled into your seat. Service continues to be excellent throughout your meal with prompt, friendly service and attention to detail. The food is why we really come back though -- perfectly authentic Mexican food. All of the combos are good, and we frequently order one of the daily specials so that we can keep trying everything on the huge menu. But, I keep coming back to the Grilled Camarones (Shrimp) Fajitas. It's like a big Fajita sandwich with sauteed shrimp, onions, peppers, and seasoning inside of two flour tortillas, then grilled and served with lettuce, tomato, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Their guacamole is just right - nicely seasoned but not overdone so as to obscure the creamy deliciousness of the avocado. They serve traditional Mexican sodas in glass bottles plus a big list of Coke products and iced tea with free refills. Sadly, no margaritas here. But, they do allow you to bring your own beer (BYOB) and probably wine too, which is a rare find in this area. So plan ahead and bring your favorite cold beverage to go with Reys heavenly Mexican food. Enjoy! read more

If you like frozen prepared mexican food, heated up and served, then you'll love this place. The food is tasteless and bland, typical Pennsylvania food. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I've tried a lot of different menu items and have loved it all. I wish they would move to a larger place as it can get a bit cramped when they're busy. Also, they don't have alcoholic beverages. This is a favorite place to eat for my family. We usually always order the combination #20 platter. The platter comes with a chicken fluata, a hard shell taco, a chili relleno, rice and beans. I've eaten at Rey Azteca's many times, mainly because its the best Mexican food Butler has to offer, which isn't saying much. The food is just ok, nothing to tell your friends about, but not bad enough to keep you from coming back. The best meal they offer are the chicken chimichangas, which are indeed delicious. The fajitas are often overcooked, and the refried beans are grey, not brown, grey! Can someone please explain that to me. On the plus side, the chips and salsa are free, the service is excellent, and the food comes out quickly compared to other restaurants. However, the negatives are that the parking is horrible, the lot is too small, and the lines are barely visible, except for a couple of dishes, the food is comparable to what you would get in the frozen food section of your grocery store, and the seating is very cramped. All in all, it beats going to Taco Bell. read more

This place is the best for Mexican in the area. They have generous portions at affordable prices. The food is always served fresh and it tastes delicious! I like to enjoy a margarita with my Mexican but they don't serve alcohol here. That doesn't stop me from going though. They can get pretty busy but I've never had more than a 15-20 minute wait.
