I'm writing to share my experience with Rex Fabrics. This is the first google review I have ever posted. I am so profoundly disturbed by my experience there I had to take the time to share it with others who might be thinking of shopping there or using their dress making services. DON'T!!! Our experience was quite appalling. My daughter is getting married and we went to Rex to purchase fabric for my Mother of the Bride dress. During the fabric selection process, the salesperson explained they also make dresses and would give a discount on the fabric if you have them make your dress. When starting the process they explained we would first come for measurements, the second fitting was to try on the "shell fabric" that would be a mockup of the dress. That is the first moment we should have been concerned. We spent considerable time explaining to them the shell did not fall correctly and the seamstress clearly was struggling to figure out how to make it work. We had to offer our own suggestions and offer modifications. The owner Jenny was supervising every meeting and completely emotionally withdrawn from the situation offering no solutions or recommendations. She did not care whatsoever that we would ultimately get the dress of our dreams. She is cold and all business. The next fitting was with the actual dress and then we knew we were in trouble. It did not resemble anything like the model we shared. It looked awful and they basically told us, take it or leave it. They said we used up our three fittings and they insisted they made the dress exactly as shown. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE MODEL. It looked terrible and my daughter explained that I only have one daughter and how important this dress was for the wedding. They did not care. It was obviously a pure business transaction for them. They have no business offering these services as they do not have the qualified seamstresses on staff or supervision. I decided I was not going to even fight for another fitting because I had zero confidence the seamstress knew what she was doing. Long story short, we took it to someone we have come to meet who is a highly experienced dress maker and immediately she explained they completely cut the dress incorrectly. The new seamstress said, what is done is done but I will still make it beautiful and she proceeded to make modifications. We picked up the dress yesterday and it is stunning!! I am so happy this new person created a beautiful dress I will be proud and thrilled to wear at my daughter's wedding....but it also cost me more money to achieve the result Rex should have done in the first place. In closing I truly want to warn others who might be considering working with Rex for dress making services. read more

I stopped by Rex fabrics this week, searching for material for Halloween costumes that I am improvising. I was pleasantly surprised, finding such a wide variety of different materials from textiles, ribbons, feathers, buttons, sequins, fabric, beads, lace, and much more. I can't believe it's the first time I visit, and it certainly won't be the last because I am very crafty and I enjoy do it yourself projects. This store is great for purchasing materials for special creations. read more

Wow wow yelpers From the outside you would never believe me if I told you how beautiful this fabric store is inside. Last minute we had to create a Red carpet and my son's school and Rex fabrics save the day. I called over the phone first to see if they had red fabric and.... They more than one could imagine. The customer service we great and that is hard to find in Miami! When I got there I expressed I was the person over the phone and they immediately pulled out a million different reds They had from high end to low but the low was still exceptional quality. Since the moment I found out that my son was getting married I knew that I wanted a custom gown. I knew that the local, small business in Miami, Rex Fabric had the best and most beautiful fabrics to choose from. I met with Jose in February who was amazing. He made me feel that it was okay to take the risk since after all I am the mother of the groom. And risk it I did! I chose a beautiful black tulle, with feathers, and some color. Now what? I had the fabric but no one to make it for me. But not true! Rex has an in-house design department and they made my gown. The designer was excellent. He heard me. He heard my concerns and the look I wanted. And boy did he come through!!! On December 1rst 2023, I escorted my handsome son down the aisle in the most beautiful gown. I looked and felt the way a mother is supposed to look and feel on the day of her son's wedding! So thank you Rex Fabric for everything you did to make my dream come true! read more

MADE MY WEDDING DRESS TOO SMALL AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I had my wedding dress altered here based on recommendations from a local tailor. It needed to fit smaller around the chest. When I came back for a fitting, it was clearly too small. The seams and buttons were pulling and I could barely get it closed. They angrily told me "you gained weight!" and called me "fat" in Spanish. They pulled it so tightly that they popped a stitch at the waistband (see photo). They said it needed to be fixed and let out, but when they called the main seamstress (she was off that day), it was clear from the phone conversation that the person on the other end of the line didn't want to deal with it. They changed their mind and started telling me the dress would fit "if you pull it tight enough" and had me leave with my dress. I would've argued, but frankly, I didn't trust them not to mess it up further. They made my mom sign a form that we were "satisfied" before we left with the dress. I paid $1800 and have to get the dress completely realtered before my wedding. Most importantly, I returned to the bridal shop where I purchased the dress, got re measured, and MY SIZE HAS NOT CHANGED. I have not gained weight. Rex fabrics messed up, made my dress too small, wrongly blamed ME, then did not offer to help the situation. Even if I had gained weight, their handling of the situation was completely inappropriate. I am a physician and to blame an individual without offering a solution is not only unprofessional, but dangerous. This has been an incredibly stressful situation. I would not recommend that anyone support this business and I hope this review encourages them to reach out to me so we can resolve the situation. read more

Rex Fabrics is the ultimate fabric store to go to that features high quality fabrics and accessories for all your sewing and fashion needs. My grandmother has been going here for years and recommended that we go here to look at fabrics and get inspiration for a custom dress. Rex Fabrics prices make it really clear was to why designers such as Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad, or Leah Da Gloria, or SO EXPENSIVE. There are some GORGEOUS beaded and embellished fabrics here that go up to $1,000/yard. While some might find this not affordable, it sure it is a great time just looking at everything they have and the wide selection. They have an endless selection of tulles and mesh that provides us the opportunity to find a shade that exactly matched my skin tone. It was $75/yard, but the sales lady gave it to us for $50/yard. We bought a yard and a half. The service here is really great. The sales woman was attentive, had a great attitude, and was real about the prices and told us what was worth the purchase. read more

The Customer service at this store is HORRIFIC!!! I drove all the way from Aventura to this store and never had such POOR, HORRIFIC customer service!! CHABELI was the person assigned to help me but while she was "helping" me one of her. mientes came into the store and dropped my like a hot potato!! no explanation whatsoeve!!! I understand I'm no the only client but PORFAVOR have common sense and take care of the client you're working with!! she could said "please allow me to greet my customer and continue helping you." Rex Fabrics has earned my trust. They made me a custom cashmere overcoat that exceeded my expectations. The fabric, fit, tailoring, and detail are all outstanding! They included everything I asked for plus more. The garment was finished almost 3 weeks sooner than agreed to. I came in for a fitting and left with a coat that I consider perfect. WARNING, DO NOT BUY!! I received my fabric and it stunk like glade or some sort of bad perfume and I have an awful migraine. My hands, the whole kitchen smelled like fragrance. I immediately put it back in the box. It was THAT BAD. I called to return the fabric but they said they would not allow a return unless it was stained or damaged. They said it could possibly be the Sunbrella fabric. I've been buying Sunbrella from different stores for years and it never smelled soooo bad like this. read more

I guess I have an emotional attachment to the living room furniture because I couldn't part ways with the beautiful wood pieces purchased fifteen years ago. I've been going to Rex since I was 5 years old. My grandmother sewed and she made most of my clothes, especially dresses and outfits for special occasions. We always went to Rex because of their amazing selection. THIRTY YEARS LATER, I find myself back at Rex for the same fabulous selection of fabrics. I immediately found exactly what I envisioned for my living room and placed the order for reupholstery. The process was smooth, fast and the results were exactly what I wanted. Spectacular craftsmanship and attention to detail. I didn't shop around but I didn't need to. Rex is synonymous for quality and I knew they would not let let me down. I purchased a Sunbrella outdoor fabric for some patio chairs wherein the fabric did not match the existing Sunbrella. I found that the price from Rex Fabrics was about $5 per yard cheaper than all the other internet stores. That paired with the October promotion of an additional 15% discount meant that the fabric was 33% less. Rex kept me completely informed as to the shipping status. I live in Southern Calif. and the fabric was sent from Miami. It arrived in only six days and the pricing did not include state sales tax. What a deal!!! Love this place and I have already spent way too much money there! I like the fact that they provide a personal shopper to assist you with everything (no, they don't think you're going to shop lift a bolt of fabric.) Okay, so they're very expensive - but every piece of fabric I've bought has been a dream to work with. I've been able to pick out fabulous upholstery fabrics and fabrics to use in my hat designs. I'm always thrilled to stop by. By the way, this is the only fabric store I know of who have parking lot attendants... says something about the quality/ price of fabrics you're dealing with. read more

I couldn' have had a better experience. I managed a fabric store, a large chain in the north east. I KNOW customer service. When I say the owner went above and beyond helping me, she did. I was sewing for a client and found the perfect match! After rolling out several yards, and finalzing the price, my client did not want to spend the amount of money. (Yes, I should have asked for the price per yard first) As nothing was cut, the owner graciously said she would roll it back onto the tube. This was netting and NOT so easily done. I volunteered to do ir, but again, graciously she declined my offer. We found something which would fit my client's budget and made the purchase. If I ever needed anything to complete a special project, I would return to Rex Fabrics. Their fabrics are a dream and the service is unmatched. I really don't understand the negative reviews for this place. Rex Fabrics is probably the best fabric store in Miami. They've got a huge selection of very fine fabrics. Yes, they're expensive, but if it's cheap fabric you're looking for, then head on over to Jo-Anne's. And when you're marching around fabrics that are several hundreds of dollars a yard, you better believe someone is going to follow you around to make sure you don't screw with their inventory. Their staff is helpful and very knowledgeable. And I believe they custom make mens suits and shirts in the store. read more

I went into this place kind of looking for something, but I wanted to see what all they had to offer. From the moment I stepped through the door, this woman followed me around within three feet. They had nice designer fabrics (with designer price tags), pre-beaded material, and all kinds of ultra-tacky prints. But really, I was more distracted by the woman who probably thought I was going to shoplift a 60 inch long bolt of ugly or something. Not worth it at all. Ok, I'm a beer guy rating a fabrics store; get past that, and I can save you some time- this place is a wee bit loco. They have old men in top hats opening the door, and they must pump about seven gallons of cologne into the hvac system per second. Seriously, wtf, it smells stronger than the perfume counter at Macy's. The dress fabric area looks like 1953 Miami just exploded. The uphostry fabric room to the side has more traditional patterns, but very few compared to NYC selections...though admittedly broader than dabblers like Hobby Lobby. The smell, though, was so overpowering we had to leave. Subtle is NOT a word they know- like an old lady in an elevator...a whole bottle of cheap perfume per say is too much! read more

This store is ridiculously expensive and the service leaves much to be desired. Can someone please tell the owner that the constant deodorizer is incredibly overpowering. If you suffer from allergies and choose to visit come prepared with your allergy meds. I think this may be the reason why the sales ladies are miserable and not very helpful. Years ago I purchased fabric here and the prices were high but not like they are now. Try the bird road fabric store across from Tropical Park the ladies are very helpful. Not as big of a selection but at least you will be treated as a customer and not an interruption or a nuisance. read more

From the moment I walked into this place I said WOW! The doorman opens the door for you, the Decor inside is incredible, They greet you with a smile, but best of all is the quality of their work. I had four shirts custom made to my size and the fit was perfect. The quality of the material is outstanding and their attention to detail is impeccable. From the moment we walked thru the door 3 months ago to June when we picked this handmade dress the attention was over the top, you are made to feel at home, comfortable and treated with respect and kindness. I read some fair reviews but also many that really piqued my interest-- from the anachronistic uniformed doorman, to the description of the overly-attentive salespeople. All I can say is REX is the most fabulous fabric store I've ever been in! Not sure how the experience would be if you spoke no Spanish however, as it is a throwback in time to an era of upper class Latino and Spanish culture, straight out of Havana in the 50s or Madrid in the 60s to the times when salespeople truly catered to their clientele. Bespoke clothing and custom furnishing abound. Less expensive than some; more than others. But I have to say, I loved feeling catered to amid all that incredible fabric and perfume. read more

Rex Fabrics takes pride in their business, and they make buying fabric into an experience you can talk about to your friends. I had a budget to work with. The staff very generously accommodated me in finding a fabric and price I could afford. I greatly appreciate the manager taking into consideration my circumstances and facilitating my purchase.
