I totally relied on yelp's review when I chose this place for my wedding dress cleaning and my bridesmaid's dress cleaning. After my experience with Rex, I felt that this place was overrated for the following reasons. 1. Not friendly at all- 2. They tried to add more service on when I only needed simple pressing on the dress. 3. Long turnaround time - it took more than 2 months to get it done 4. Lack of communication- They never called me for follow-up (although they promised me to call back for pickup date) or even when my wedding dress was ready. I actually had to call them and found out that my dress was sitting there for weeks. read more

WOW. Rex Cleaners=AMAZING Definitely well worth the 5 stars I rated it! After contemplating buying a new coat for this winter, I decided to be frugal and try to salvage what was left of my old coat. It had dog hair, food stains, and just looked plain gross. Plus, there was a hole in the left pocket and 3 buttons were missing. When I brought it in, they inspected the coat and noticed all the repairs needed, and after a couple days, I got my coat back, good as new, with the buttons sewn in and everything! I got this all done for less than 10 bucks. Can't imagine how much the cleaning and repairs would have cost at another place. So I went to this place based on the great reviews but now I wish I would've stuck to my normal Asian dry cleaner/alterations place. My first problem with this place was the price. It was a bit more expensive than I'm used to. 12.50 for altering a pair of jeans versus 5 dollars at a place like Linda's Tailor. I wouldn't have cared that much about the price if I was happy with the alterations. The second problem was the alteration itself. I had specifically asked for a European hem on one of my jeans. Instead I got a normal hem and lost all the detail on the cuff. I won't be coming back to this place anytime soon. read more

Well after two years I'm finally getting around to reviewing Rex Cleaners. There's not much more to be said here. The staff is fantastic (Kevin). I've never had an issue with my clothes and they always come out looking great. The price is moderate, but probably very reasonable for California. The turnaround time is fine and it's close to home. There are a few staples that everyone needs: A good regular barber, a good mechanic, and a good dry cleaner. Really, don't waste your time searching. I went here because my friend had a big fluffy blanket that had vomit on it, from a wild night..... The employee and I guess the manager that helped us was REALLY nice! I was surprised. They took the blanket with no problem, and said to come back in 3 days. They took payment when we picked up the blanket, $12 for dry cleaning a big 10 feet-ish thick blanket? No that big, they said. I would give this place 10 out of 5 stars if it were possible! After having a very poor dry cleaning experience with the place in the parking lot of my apartment complex, I walked a couple blocks away and dropped my suit off here on the basis of you yelpers. I came in yesterday morning (Thursday), and when I asked how fast it could be done, the guy said "how about Friday night?" I told him Saturday morning would be fine, but he said it'll be done Friday night. I figured I'd walk down to the place tonight before they closed to see if it was done, and sure enough it was all cleaned and pressed and ready for delivery. That's right, a 36 hour turn around, WOW! Now here's the best part, when I was told how much it cost, only $12.50... for a full suit on a 36 hour turnaround?! DAYUM!! I'm pretty sure I paid more than that for a horrible job on a 4 day turnaround from the shoddy lady across the parking lot. Rex Cleaners has earned my business for the rest of my days in the San Jose/Santa Clara area! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! read more

Not bad for a reliable dry cleaning place, but I'm hoping they bring it up a notch. Pros: friendly, reliable, consistent dry cleaning, good hours. Cons: They don't have a place to try on pants if you need hemming or repair. No computer so you have to hang on to your little pink piece of paper or it's going to be a long process, and none of the new environmentally friendly cleaning options. Also you can't just hand them a bag with your name tag on it and bounce (like my old place) you have to stand there while they count out the items and write them up by hand until you can get your little pink piece of paper to file away until your return. I get the idea they have been doing everything the same way for 40-50 years and they are not going to modernize anytime soon. Not bad, not the best. read more

I needed to get my dress drycleaned after a wedding I went to. I noticed a few stains so I needed to go somewhere that does a good job that's not the previous place I went to (they're cheap but they don't always do a great job)...So...Yelp to the rescue! Well, it's yelp and my bf's recommendation to the rescue. Rex had great reviews so I decided to give them a try. I almost drove past this place since it's tucked in between to larger buildings but once I got in there I was greeted and helped. They gave me about 4 days for pickup which was fine and when I got my dress back all stains were gone and it was like new. People here are nice and get it done right. Cleaning for my dress is a bit pricey but it was a pretty satin blue dress so it was a given. I'd come here again for the great quality service read more

It is really hard to find a good Dry Cleaning / Laundry service these days. I'm not sure why, but you often deal with lost clothes, broken buttons, unremovable stains, etc. This place has successfully avoided all of that for me. I've been using them for a while, and have waited to write this review for fear of jinxing myself. But they have had consistent quality and really friendly service. I've only got a few jeans altered/hemmed and they did a great job. If you just have shirts, you can get them the next day. But they always get anything else done in a reasonable amount of time. Brought in a suit, ties, and pants to Rex Cleaners. The owner, who I will assume to be Rex, was very nice. He said he could get my clothes taken care of in 2 days, which was fine by me. But most impressively, he got stains out of my ties that I had thought were never coming out, and managed to get my very wrinkled ties looking nice again. Price was reasonable too. Only downside I can think of are the hours of operation. It can be a little hard for me to make it there before 6:30pm. read more

Great dry cleaners! The owner is extremely friendly and he always greets me with a smile when I drop off my work clothes here. He always makes sure to give me a day that he can get my clothes back to me. Sometimes I need clothes sooner and he makes sure to have them ready for me by that time, even if its really short notice! I revisited Rex Cleaners about two weeks ago on a Saturday. I brought in a strapless black dress. I explained I had cut off the strings from which it would have otherwise been hung from, and the gentleman at the desk said not to worry and that they'd figure out a hanger for it. After quickly inspecting the dress he placed a red piece of tape on a stain that had been hiding under one of the folds. I was impressed already! AND It was cheaper than the last! On Tuesday (I asked if it could be done by then) when I returned to pick up my dress, the gentleman remembered me and joked about how they had found a hanger for me. The dress was stain free, on time, and clean as could be. Awesome cleaning services! I needed my blazer professionally cleaned within 2 days and they delivered! Couldn't believe how many other businesses had 3 or more days turn around time. I took my blazer to several different cleaners in the area and none of them were able to clean my garment within that time frame. I have 2 dogs and a cat and somehow they got hold of it and I had animal fur all over it! They definitely cleaned it and took off all the hair. It looks like a brand new blazer! Found this little place through yelp and I have to say, yelp you never cease to amaze me. I came here bringing 3 down comforters with me... yup 3, and I thought to myself, this is going to be pricey. Whenever I'm gone for too long, my baby bowser, loves to get even by marking his territory on my sheets! This time, my family and I left for two days and the house sitter failed to close all the doors and watch him like she should have. Bowser went on a peeing spree and marked 3 of our comforters and about 5 of our pillows. Of course, my mother was pissed because the blankets and pillows were expensive. I was going to throw them out but I decided to give Rex a call and he assured that they would be able to thoroughly sanitize and clean everything. I brought everything in and with a warm smile, the employee made me feel at ease and gave me a very reasonable price. I picked everything up in about 2 days and was very pleased. Thanks to all the awesome Yelp reviews, I decided to trust Rex Cleaners to handle preparing my wedding dress before my wedding. It was a simple job, removing a soap stain and wrinkles, but you can never be too careful on who to trust with these things! The shop is located on Race Street, and if you're coming from San Carlos, it is right before you hit the Alameda. Parking is in the front & back, but when I went to pick up & drop off parking was not an issue. Customer service was awesome. Greeted and promptly helped, I wasn't charged the full price for a wedding gown cleaning because my dress was simple, only the top half had lace details, and the job would not be too difficult. My girlfriend recommended this dry cleaning establishment because it's only a few blocks away from her house, and she's been bringing her "fancy" dresses here for many years. Not long ago, she and I brought our "very nice" clothes for dry cleaning and pressing. When we picked up our clothes and brought it back to her house, we both noticed that one of her dresses was ripped, and damaged, To top it off, the damaged dress was a gift of mine. Thus, it was very expensive! I was pretty upset, so I stormed back to Rex's. To make a long story short, I explained this to the manager, possibly Kevin? I showed him the damaged dress, and the receipt for the dress. Then without hesitation, he kindly provided me with a refund (cash) and deeply apologized for the inconvenience. This customer service made me happy, and I've been a devoted customer ever since this matter. I had a raw silk dress that I thought was ruined. My husband spilled a drink all over it and it had a huge stain. We brought the dress into a competitor's dry cleaning and they gave it back with the same huge stain. I tried Rex's Cleaners and the woman said that they'd be able to make the dress look brand new. I had my doubts but they were right. They got the stain out and the dress looks brand new! They saved one of my favorite dresses. I'll only use Rex's Cleaners from now on. The people who run this shop are great at dry cleaning and just all around nice. They were my regular dry cleaner when I lived in this neighborhood. When I moved, I tried a dry cleaner closer to my new house. That second dry cleaner gave me back "cleaned" clothes that smelled strongly of mildew. After a second chance to fix the smell, I took the injured clothes to Rex. They were wonderful! Not only did they bring the clothes back to life, they took pity on me and didn't charge me.
