They had a lot of interesting treats and food as well that I would like to try next time I'm in town. Resturant has a charming atmosphere with floral decorations all throughout the restaurant…read more The restaurant is going for fresh and organic. They actually take painstaking care to label essentially everything as organic in the menu. It's actually almost comical. The food itself is quite good. The pasta tastes house made. The pizza dough also is house made but it does have crust reminiscent of frozen. The toppings do make up for this though. Service was on the slower side and it seemed the kitchen was in the weeds despite not being a packed house. Not sure if it's because of the ingredients but the prices are on the higher side, such as the sausage (essentially a short hotdog) with home fried for $16. Overall a good experience for the convenience of table service otherwise getting food from somewhere like Framboy and making it yourself would be a good equivalent. To be fair this is a 3.5/5 but half stars aren't possible.

We're not strict veg, we just like to lean that way most nights so we thought we'd check Bellona out. A lot of their menu has a choice between tapas size and full size so we tried a few things. Loved everything. The sliders were addictive. Attached is our bill. $99 including a bottle of wine and we were stuffed (and I'm 6'4" and have an appetite). Desserts looked good too but we were too full. The very nice owner chatted with us at the end and told us about the origin of the place (and that our great server was her daughter). Long story short, they told us to wait 5-10mins and if the next reservation didn't show up, they could seat us. Luckily, we got seated. The staff was nice, the place is cozy and had good vibes. But there are some key staples that are now harder to get. I think the biggest disappointment are now: 1) Though prices have remained the same, portions are much smaller and have gotten smaller over the last year. Whereas I found that getting the mini sampler was enough food for me to be full, now there's a gap where I still feel the hunger. 2) Their butter chikn isn't great. The consistency is good, but the flavour is bland under the cover of heat. 3) Clarity in their menu has deteriorated slightly. The last few times I've gone in, there's been confusion about portioning and what's what. I'm kind of saddened as I feel like the quality of overall experience is just different. I might have to find somewhere new to get my fix.

Being a fan of the Bakes by the Lake lunch and treats, I was excited to see they had expanded and were offering more options to the gluten free and vegan community. The tea room is beautifully and elegantly decorated. From the light fixtures to the cutlery, it shows they have put much thought and energy into the vision they have for the space. I was definitely impressed! The menu offers a little bit of everything. My boyfriend, who isn't gluten free tried a gluten free beer and really enjoyed it. We were there around lunch so we opted for sandwiches. Not having to ask if something could be removed or was gluten free was so nice. We swapped half's of sandwiches and loved both. My boyfriend had no idea it was vegan cheese until I told him after he ate his half. He said he would order it again. The Gourmet Grilled Cheese had the upper hand with the black truffle dip that came with it - sooo good.
