three burritos wrapped in checkered paper

I've been here a handful of times and had a great experience each time. The food here is fresh and delicious, and a bonus that it's vegan as well! I'm trying to incorporate more plant based foods into my diet, and this spot makes it so easy. It's actually so good. I can't wait to come back and try more things!

Love this vegan place ! Although I've only been here once with some coworkers, I can already tell that it's going to be a place I will frequent. The people who work there are extremely friendly and welcoming, they're passionate about the food they have, and they're very happy to answer questions and let you taste test some of their foods in the hot section. I've only tried their buffalo chicken wrap (in their grab and go section for $8.99) but it was SOO good .. I have no idea what kind of sauce they used but it's addicting ! Obviously they did not use chicken - I think it was tofu as the substitute but it was absolutely delicious. Both of my coworkers ordered the Power Bowl ($11.99) that they make on the spot and it had avocado, quinoa, greens, tofu topped with tahini dressing - I snuck a bite and it was delicious as well! They have daily specials at their hot counter and I'm definitely going to try those next time. From what I remember, they had quite a variety of foods there including butter 'chicken', fried rice, Kung pao 'chicken' and more ! I saw other people being served generous portions. Prices are also very reasonable compared to other vegan places that I've been to. Overall, it's a great vegan joint with excellent food and service. The only downside is that there are currently not enough tables for dine in! There's plenty of space in the store but it could be that they just recently moved locations so they're still getting settled in. Either way, I highly recommend this place!

    Copper Branch - Fireplace

    Copper Branch

My rating is 4.5 stars…read more My dear friend and I wanted to meet before Christmas to catch up and exchange gifts. I had a bit of time between trips to the States. We decided to meet on a Friday after we were both done work. I made a bunch of suggestions. My first one was this Copper Branch in Bowmanville, which is our midpoint between Peterborough and Markham. She is vegan. We are both huge fans of Copper Branch. We were both game. I needed to pick up a package from the post office before heading to Bowmanville. With the Christmas craziness at my local post office, the wait was long. By the time I was done, I needed to take highway 401 to get to Bowmanville. I was late by five minutes, which is uncharacteristic of me. I also prefer using backroads heading eastbound. It was not meant to be on this evening. Luckily, my friend is understanding. She got there early and got a table for us. There is plenty of parking in this huge plaza. Copper Branch is across from Planet Fitness. I parked and walked in. This Copper Branch is the largest one that I have ever set foot in. It's spacious and cheerful. I found my friend and sat down. We caught up with our lives since we last got together in over 2.5 hours. We stayed until closing time. At Copper Branch, we are used to ordering at the counter and getting our food served. This eatery works a bit differently. It's full table service. We got menus. Everything we ordered got served to us. Nice! My friend and I are so similar. Without even consulting each other beforehand, we got the same things: - Poutine - Nachos I deviated by getting a peppermint hot chocolate. She got water. My hot chocolate came out first. It was foamy at the top and creamy. The peppermint was cheerful, but not as strong as I had hoped. Still, it was yummy and I'd get it again. We both haven't dined at Copper Branch since we ate at the now-closed Whitby location. She craved coming here because her local one in Peterborough had closed, too. The poutine was larger than we had both remembered it to be. It was comforting and yummy. I wish that the cheese melted a bit better, but it's a hit-or-miss thing with vegan cheese. I have never had their nachos served in a bowl before. In the past, it would be on a lined cookie sheet. I liked the old method better. Having nachos served in the bowl made a lot of chips soggy with the salsa over them at the bottom. The chips weren't crunchy. They were still delicious, but they need to be on a flat surface, and not as if you're having chili with nacho chips to scoop it out. We paid at the counter. My friend got some dessert for her boyfriend, who has quite the sweet tooth. We both got pumpkin pie slices. I had it the following day. It was yummy. I particularly loved the amount of nutmeg used it in. I paid using a credit card. It was a seamless transaction. It does get a bit expensive eating here. My food was just shy of $40 with taxes and a tip. We both used the washroom on separate occasions during our dining experience. Each one is a single stall. The one that I was in was clean and stocked well. I love this place. There are some minor improvements needed with the nachos, but the quality is there. The table full of vegan cookbooks was a lovely touch. You can also get Very Good Butcher products here, too. (480)

Veggie Paradise specialises in Veg take-out (call ahead), Frozen/Dried meals and ingredients. I write "Veg" 'cause it may be even Vegan, as opposed to just Vegetarian. They also do custom vegan/vegetarian cakes/pastries. This place is run by 2 sisters and their workers. As soon as Sandra heard that I wanted something to eat, she prepped me with an Asian meal - as opposed to their other meals that are more popular amongst gwai-lo. Meal comprised of a soup (looked like Tom Yum, but not sweet/spicy), a separate plate with Rice, Bok Choy (chopped with garlic), & a portion of fermented Mustard Greens with Green Peas (this was medium spicy). The meal was tasty, yet rather homey as it wasn't overly salted. I really felt like I was eating at an aunt's house! This place is located in a rather industrial, catering to Vegans/Vegetarians (or people who just enjoy the occasional veg meal), so just call ahead if you want to order something! The sisters will even offer you a sample if it's available. :)

My friend is vegan. Peterborough has a good vegan eatery scene. I did a search and Revelstoke Cafe popped up. Oddly, I had never been. I asked my friend if she was good coming here. She was. Yay! I indicated that I'd arrive at either 2:30 pm or 3 pm. Well, the volume of folks with canoes on their vehicles or boats hitched to them picked up as I drove east. I let my friend know that I'd be there at 3 pm instead. She was good with that. She got there before I did and let me know where she was parked. She had also got a table for us. I let her know that I was ten minutes later than expected. Long weekend traffic will do that to you. I parked on George Street North, across from this restaurant. My approach was super slow trying to figure out where this restaurant was. It's in a residential neighbourhood, but it's right at the corner of George and Edinburgh. It's free parking all day on this street. I walked in. I saw the kitchen and all staff working away. They were friendly. They said hi. I reciprocated and said hi to my friend. I walked over. It was nearly a two-hour drive over. I needed to use the washroom. It's a single stall that everyone uses. It was clean. The floor isn't level, so the door only opens halfway. I also used it before I left and continued eastbound. My friend had already ordered an iced maple chai latte. It looked yummy. She let me know that any coffee on the menu could be made iced. The berry hibiscus lemonade caught my attention, so I ordered it. My first instinct was to hit the brunch menu and get the west coast scramble. However, I took one look at the mushroom hash and was sold. It didn't surprise my friend. I am a huge fan of mushrooms. She got the burrito bowl. It had a vegan version of beef in it. Cool! We chatted a bit. My drink came out first. It was excellent! I love hibiscus and berries together. The lemonade brightened this drink up. It was cold and refreshing for a warm summery day. My friend enjoyed her iced maple chai latte. She said that it wasn't overly sweet with the maple in it. The chai was a good strength and oat beverage was in there to smooth things out. Our mains came out next. Her beef burrito bowl looked so good, especially with a sliced, fanned avocado in the middle. She was about the dig in when she remembered that I liked taking photos of food, so she gave me a bit of time to take a pic before she went for it. She loved her burrito bowl. The flavours were on point. The vegan beef was tender. The veggies were fresh. It looked yummy. I need to try it someday. I loved my mushroom hash. The potatoes were pan-fried and were perfectly done. They were seasoned nicely. The mushrooms were sautéed and delicious. The tofu that simulated a poached egg was super silky. The hollandaise sauce was generous and made this hash awesome. I asked about dessert. This place only had some molasses item that didn't scream for me to get it. She did say that there were cinnamon buns tomorrow. My timing was off. Ugh! Anyway, we got the bill. My friend paid cash her for meal. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and tipped. We both thanked her. My friend and I continued to chat. We were there for three hours. Staff did not mind that we hung around after having paid. There was air conditioning. Before we left, a big ceiling fan over us was activated. We did not feel hot at all during our time here. I can't wait to return. I loved eating here and meeting up with my friend. I highly recommend coming here if you are in Peterborough, whether you are vegan or not. The food is scrumptious and staff are nice. (220)
