"That's a dang good burger and some mighty fine fries!" In need of beef, I & dining partner dropped into this Revel Burger on Golf Course Rd in west ABQ. I ordered their Combo Special and chose the ground beef burger and beer battered fries options, over the grilled chicken or chips choices. I added green chile and cheese to make it a de facto green chile cheeseburger. Drinks were sweet tea for me and water for today's partner, which were expeditiously delivered to our table as we waited on the food to arrive. Sweet tea was pretty ordinary and less sweet or tea flavored than most I've had. Kinda thin on taste. Burger & fries portion were plenty generous. The well stuffed bun came butter toasted from the flat top & required a good bit of jaw stretch to fit it all in. Burger patty appeared to be hand formed, was very nicely grilled, and had excellent flavor. Lettuce, tomato, & onion, plus a drizzle of their house sauce, were intelligently placed under the cheese topped patty in the sandwich. Thereby keeping the juicy patty from drooling & sogging out the bottom part of the bun. Which was only partially successful since the squeeze needed to eat the sandwich, coupled with the juicy fillings, made some sogging out inevitable. Green chile was rocking impactful flavor and a substantial spicy kick to match. It brought a lovely burn to the lips & tongue!! Beer battered fries came hot from the fryer, substantially crispy crunchy on the outside, tender inside, lightly salted, and really tasty. These fries could make Revel Burger a destination all on their own. Really noteworthy fries! Counter lady was welcoming and very efficient getting our orders taken. Premises were bright from wall of windows facing the road and clean. It shares space with a Pizza 9 so a faint aroma of pizza spices permeates the space, which can be confusing to the brain while you're eating a burger. Demerit for thin watery tea for me and partner being charged $1.69 for a bottle of water, then getting just a paper cup of iced tap water instead of an actual bottle of water. read more

Let's start with the actual food. The burger was a good portion, cooked well, and tasted good. The fries were crispy, both the sweet potato fries and the regular fries. It is attached to a pizza restaurant and they do have fountain drinks, however, the drink dispenser is in the back and they advertise bottled soda in the front area. They also advertised various lemonades but they were not available yet. The clerk was not even remotely friendly or helpful when ordering or upon receiving our food. The chef from the back came out to check on us and brought us drink refills, she was amazing. read more

This place is part of Pizza 9, but a slightly separate area inside it. I got the Swiss Mushroom special they had ($8.99) and added green chilie ($1.00) and an extra patty ($3.00), as a combo ($12.99 before my upgrades), and upgraded the side to onion rings ($2.00), and a drink. I should mention that if you have cheese and add a patty, they automatically add another cheese to the patty (so an extra patty is really $4.00). All together mine was $20.99 (wife and I split the onion rings and fries so we each got some "frings"). My wife got the Burger ($7.99), added green chilie and Swiss ($1.00 each, for a total upgrade of $2.00) as a combo ($12.99 before the upgrades), with the beer battered fries, and a drink. All together her's was $14.99. We added 2 sides of ranch (it's the pizza 9 ranches), for $1.00 each (although the fries and rings are both so good, I wish we hadn't gotten the ranches, as they mostly went to waste). As I mentioned above, the fries and rings were both really good. Normally, I need ranch to eat fries, but my ranch effectively went to waste here (not because there was anything wrong with the ranch, but because the fries shined without it. The burger is on a nice wide bun, and even the single would have likely been filling (with the double, I left stuffed). They were pretty darn good, but I should warn people that the patties aren't a normal hamburger patty you might be expecting. It seems more like an attempt at a steak burger. Still really good, but it threw my wife off (who tried her burger before I got to mine). She first thought it was the secret sauce that she felt was "off", but upon reflection (and my tasting mine and commenting on the patty), she isn't sure if it was the sauce or the patty. For my part, it was definitely the patty that was "different" (I don't want to say wrong, because it really was still good, just "different"). Overall, we will be back, and did enjoy our meals. Lastly, I want to give a special shout out about the service. While this is basically just an addon to Pizza 9, and by no means a fancy sit down type of place, the woman at the counter (I'm afraid I didn't get her name) was very understanding while we were ordering (especially as it was our first time here), and very courteous and friendly with us. We wound up sitting kind of behind a wall (we like our privacy), but she didn't forget about us and still ensured we had refills (even though this definitely seems like the kind of place you'd go to the counter to ask for refills). Maybe I ordered a "meh" burger. Honestly it was lettuce, tomato mayo and ketchup. I ordered a side of fries and onion rings. I swear I didn't taste anything except the onion rings. The burger was somewhat dry and uneventful. Maybe I should've ordered two or three patties. Maybe I should've had different toppings. Second time coming. I'm giving them 2 stars. The first time we came in great customer service. We ordered a burger the first time as well. The burger we ate the first time was juicy. Second time around it was burned, bacon seemed cooked twice to where it was hard and unappetizing. Sweet potatoes fries crispy and delicious. I asked for unsweetened strawberry iced tea, I took a sip and it was pretty sweet. I mentioned it to the guy working there he claimed it wasn't sweet. He didn't offer to replace my drink with a regular tea just ignored me after that. I drank my husbands water. Our bill came out to $50+ kids meal, 2 burger meals. I went to Revel Burger armed with a coupon for a combo burger meal for $11.99. When the employee run up my order, it was higher than I expected. I asked about the difference in price and she said it was the sales tax. Once I got my receipt, I realized that I was overcharged by $1. I asked her to consult her manager and she said she had to wait until he got out of the bathroom. (Thanks for the over-share!) He finally approached my table with a $1 bill and stated that the coupon system "had changed". I wasn't clear what that meant to me being over-charged, but ok. Once I finish my burger, I decided that I'd give the mozzarella sticks a try. When I ordered them a different employee told my the total was (you guessed it) higher than I expected. I showed him the menu that clearly showed that the item was $4.99, not the $5.99 that the register was showing. He called the manager over again (at least I didn't have to wait for him to get out of the bathroom this time). He told me the printed menu at the register had a misprint on the price of the mozzarella sticks on that particular menu. I told him to cancel my order. When I got back to my table, I noticed that my table (and ever other table around me) had a printed menu with the price of the mozzarella sticks showing as $4.99. Not sure if this establishment is just poorly managed or purposely intends to over-charge their customers hoping tit won't get noticed. Either way, I don't think I'll be patronizing any of the Rever Burger locations ever again. I think there are plenty of other burger places in town that are honest/competent and still serve up a good burger! read more

I am giving 3 stars to Revel Burger simply because of the abominable service. Twice, my order has been completely messed up, even though the receipt with our order was correct. Both times, we sent our order back and asked them to correct it and make it right. And when we got back home, the orders were STILL incorrect. Good burger but overpriced! The burger was well cooked and juicy. I added green Chile to my burger and it was good -not too spicy. The combo is $12, which includes a burger, side, and drink, but if you want anything beyond a basic cheeseburger and the normal lettuce, tomato, onions then it gets a little pricey ($16.50 before tip if you get the combo and add green Chile to your burger). It's a good choice, don't get me wrong but but at that price it needs to be one of the best green Chile cheese burgers you can get. It's combined with a pizza 9. read more
