I would have given them a 5 star review if not for two disappointments given at the bottom…read more I went with Chico Solar Works because they could also replace the roof (Chico Roofing Company) and I was willing to pay a premium to have a single company to deal with if anything went wrong. Also, they have been around for quite a while, I knew a few people who had used them for solar and their prices weren't out of the ballpark. Once the installation began it went quickly and smoothly, taking only a couple of days for installation and PG&E approved the installation within a few days. Note that they also had to upgrade our breaker box to 200A and they did a great job of matching the adobe texture and paint color where they had to cut out for the larger box. There were two things that were a bit disappointing. One was that the monitoring app showed incorrect "Consumed" energy information. It was including the produced power so when the sun came up my Consumed power went up at the same time as the produced power from the panels went up. According to Enphase this is a rather common issue and yet it took a couple of weeks to get Chico Solar to recognize there was a problem, which included my talking to Enphase a couple of times. Even after it was agreed there was a problem it took another month to get the issue resolved. It was disappointing that the people who do the installations couldn't recognize there was an issue even when I described it to them. The second issue is that (at least) one of the panels has a scratch a couple of inches long. At least initially this is not going to be an issue but I suppose it could lead to early failure. I have not reported that to Chico Solar. I should also mention that all the installed equipment was as quoted except for the panels. The panels were from a different supplier and had an additional 10W output with nearly the same specs otherwise.

They designed a system to meet only 80% of my needs why on earth would I want that ? They shorted the panels I needed and I would've paid for and thought I was paying fir a system that would zero out my PG&E bill . 3. My annual True up has been running $3500.00 4. They owe me 12k the difference between the financed price vs the cash price since 2017 the one year anniversary of the system I got in March 2016 . * Because I thought the two sales guys where very knowledgeable and helpful , friendly. I told them to add $500 for them to split. Thus the financed price was to be 39,000 plus the $500 totaling $39,500 which I paid thinking I would get the cash difference once the Hero program informed them it was paid in full . The county refunded their Hero set up fees around $3000.00

When we got home that day we saw that our solar had been installed half on the south facing garage and the other half on the north facing garage. We were told the barn roof wasn't stable enough. They said we installed two Extra panels to make up for it. However, everyone knows that south facing is much more efficient. No one called to verify the change with us. We would not have authorized that. First we were told it would be fixed no extra Charge. Then we were told to stick it out for a month and see how it performs because the company's so called engineers said it will be just as efficient. Well it's been the month and on the sunny days we monitored the amount of energy made was less than expected. When we again tried to explain that to the owner he cursed my husband out. We are paying over $28,000 for the solar of course we want it work to the best of it's ability. We are so disappointed and now having to pay a solar bill and a huge PGE bill on top of it.

They all came out and looked at our roof and gave us quotes. The quotes ranged from a low of $22,000 up to over $50,000. We then contacted Chico Roofing Company because we had 2 different friends recommend them. The salesperson (Cal) came out and was professional, personable and not pushy. He explained the roof replacement process explaining the different layers and product to be used. He then reviewed with us the warranty of the roof itself and of the workmanship. 50 years on the roof and 25 years on the workmanship. Their quote was less than $25,000 and when you take in the warranty factor it was by far the best deal. We signed on with them and they did a great job. The attention to detail of the crew and of their Foreman (Jessie) was top notch. Bill, the owner stopped by to check on the crew as well as to see if we had any questions on numerous occasions throughout the process. I've mentioned it to the crew and to friends that corners are not cut to save time when you warranty the craftmanship for 25 years. Back in July I had them route power up to my shop which was 1/2 conducted already and install a Generac generator to my home (which was off the grid ) with wiring and the rest of the conduit!. Owner claimed to be Generac certified but Generac / Sol arc stated he wasn't registered as certified to their company' as a technician I'm wondering what kind of business delivers a " supposedly new 22 kw Generac generator with dents in all four points of it's lid without even an apology or an attempt to " make restitution. Owner had an oral fixation ( smoked around home leaving his cigarette butts which he failed to pick up Technician he hired had 2 personalities and badmouthed his owner to me 1-1 but when the owner showed up he kissed the owners butt and pulled a 180 and said negative insulting innuendos about me causing me of not listening ( I specifically stated that I experienced hearing loss due to a bad inner ear infection as a child and tried to understand their hi falutent electrical jargon ) as I attempted to physically feed wire and help out where I could to expedite the Instalation process. I even supplied a 26 S series battery which the tobacco chewing technician hastily put in before checking the battery tray to see if there was sand debris which was present . The owner was suppose to help me obtain a surety bond from the prior electrician service who did not install the sol arc system 100 % correctly but he went " cold turkey" claiming I got a great deal on the install and because of that he felt ripped off and therefore wanted no more contact. If the iowner underbid the project this was his fault and he is responsible and should not place the blame on his customers! The owner kept finding lil problems with my sol arc system ( 1 due to his own misdiagnosis). He stated my panels were only putting out 30 % which he stated had to do with the panels or the inverters but he failed to take into acct that I was off grid and 100% panel output was therefore not indicated nor required with the 6 batteries I was using and what I required to power so the inverters may have been retuned for this purpose . I am grateful for what was performed however no customer should have to undergo the abuse which was liken to " Rawhide meets Mr Rogers"!!!' Still trying to get rid of the funny taste in my mouth.
