This is my second exam here and it went wonderfully. First, they are "gentle" and modern. I went to…read morean old style doctor before this and that doctor was not gentle and frankly, medically backward. This practice has the "puff in the eye" test for glaucoma much better than the "touch the eye" (pachymetry) exam that doctor wanted to do. They also have an optos retinal exam. This means they don't need to dilate your eyes. This is at a small extra cost. For me, as a single person, who doesn't want to bother people with a ride home this is a god send. I am happy to have that option. My previous older doctor insisted that the optos exam "didn't work." So this time I had the dilation. The doctor at Lickteig was expert at putting in the eye drops and I had nothing wrong just like the optos exam had said.

I had floaters and flashes, then trichiasis (an ingrown eyelash) and currently I'm being treated for an eye abrasion. Every doctor who I have seen (no pun intended!) has been personable and professional. I have never felt rushed when I am in the examination room. The doctors take the time to make sure that you understand what's going on with your eye(s). In addition to Dr. Ginsberg, I've been treated by Dr. Hahn, Dr. Zodikoff and Dr. Golebiowski. They are all exceptional eye doctors. I'd like to add that the desk staff and the medical assistants who do the eye examinations and put drops in your eyes are kind and friendly and welcome you with a smile. I am extremely disappointed with how I was treated at this facility. I came in experiencing…read moresignificant eye pain and redness, to the point that I could barely open my eye and was having difficulty with light. There was a discrepancy between the last name on my insurance card and the last name on my state ID. Instead of helping me resolve it, I was turned away and denied care. I contacted my insurance company, and they told me the office could have called them directly to verify my coverage. My insurance was also prepared to provide a reference number confirming the verification so that I could be seen. Despite there being a way to verify my insurance, the office still would not see me. I understand that offices have insurance and identification policies, but when a patient is visibly in significant pain and there is a way to verify active coverage directly with the insurance company, I believe more effort should have been made to help resolve the issue rather than simply turning me away. I left still in significant pain and unable to receive the care I came there seeking. This was an extremely frustrating and upsetting experience, especially given the severity of my symptoms.
