He is direct and honest! One of the best doctors I've been to. Even though it is a long wait to see him, it's worth it.

Rude, impatient, passive aggressive and no sense of humor I could detect. Tried to make me feel small under his wisdom and unsure what he wanted me to say even though I straight out asked him, what is it you want me to say right now? I went for a retinal tear that needed repair. They say be prepared to stay for 2 hours. Well, that should be enough time to get it done one would think. Nope. After waiting an hour to see him he did his testing and looking at my eyes and said he didn't know if he had time, ask the front desk. They said sure, come back in an hour and be prepared to stay for another 2 hours! That would be a 3:45 appt so I said what time do you close? She mumbled something about 4pm and I'm saying how am I going to be here til 5:45? I ended up leaving and may not go back. They have signs everywhere like elementary school, do this, don't do that, park your car across the street if you're waiting for a patient. They want your credit card on file to charge you for whatever insurance doesn't cover. Just too many negative red flags everywhere. THEY WAY OVERBOOK! read more

I highly recommend Dr Tang and his professional staff! In August, I woke in the morning with a blind spot in my vision. Thinking it was a previous diagnosed issue, I casually called Dr Tangs office and they suggested I come in that afternoon. I was quickly seen by Dr Tang, and he proclaimed "your eyes are fine, it is your brain!" I was having a stroke! Our journey with Dr. Tang started 9 years ago when my husband had retina detachment in both eyes. We were told he was going to be blind in both eyes. Thanks to Dr. Tang and 3 surgeries later, not only is he not blind he has 20/20 vision and threw away the glasses he had been wearing all his life. A couple of weeks ago , he all of it sudden couldn't see clear out of one eye. It was Saturday and we reluctantly called Dr. Tang, within 20 minutes he called us back and we were in his office first thing Monday morning. Apparently he needed another surgery . Even though he was booked solid till March I know for a fact he went out of his way to do the surgery yesterday. Another successful surgery with his vision restored . There are no words that I can describe this dr's dedication to his profession, his knowledge, his ability and most of all his humanity. We have ALWAYS been treated with respect and all our questions have been answered without ever been made to feel like a burden. Our deepest felt thank you will never be enough for what he has done for us. If you need a specialist in his field do NOT hesitate. You will be doing yourself a disservice. Horrible experience ! There were patients lined up on either side of the waiting area Dr Tang literally ran into the exam room had only sat down for 2 minutes when his alarm started to go off - i guess he times his exams. Dr. Tang has been my eye doctor for over 5 years and I have had regular visits. Every time I went for an office visit, the staff are professional and pleasant. After check my eyes, Dr Tang always explain to me the current eye condition and how it compare to the last visit and keep me informed on things to keep an eye on. I feel secure and confident that my retina tears were fixed and my eyes are in good condition because of Dr. Tang. I have received incredible service and medical care from Dr. Tang and his staff. He performed retinal detachment surgery on my eye with great results. I have been a patient of Dr. Tang for over two years (since my move here from out of state). In response to three emergency after hour calls to his practice, Dr. Tang personally called me back, and in two cases saw me first thing in the morning the day after and in the third he stayed late and saw me after hours. One of the cases resulted in scheduling the surgery the day after. I really feel he personally cares about my well being and the health of my eye. I plan to continue to entrust the health of my retinas to Dr. Tang and have been recommending him to anybody who knows about my eye issues or asks. I started going to Dr. Tang in November of 2020 because I had a Retinol Hemmorage and had significant vision loss in my right eye. I was able to get an appointment easily and I was well taken care of. I was scared and didn't know what was going to happen with my eye, and Dr.Tang explained to me what was wrong and how to go about treating it in a way that helped ease my fears. I started treatment the day of my first appointment and I am lucky enough to say that I have seen incredible imporvement in the 7 months I've been a patient of Dr.Tang. In such a short time I have regained about 90% of my vision in my right eye and I could not be more greatful. I have been seeing Dr Tang for 8+ years since he fixed my retina tearing in both eyes. He is extremely efficient--everything is organized and orderly in the exam rooms. He is also very kind and compassionate, provides no-nonsense advice, and is really concerned with your overall eye health. His state of the art office provides excellent care. You will get a written report detailing exam which is mailed to you and your PCP, and if asked, you can get a color print of your retina which looks like a whole other universe. Amazing doctor! I have been going to Dr. Tang now for about 6-8 years and all I can say is "Thank God I was referred to him". My first visit I was practically blind with retinopathy related to diabetes. Well, now all these years later, my vision has been restored remarkably. In the beginning, Dr. Tang said that I would have to have patience and keep coming for treatments, injections, laser and testing. He is just incredible, because it paid off. My wife and I drive 40 -45 minutes to his office, one way, and it is well worth it. Not only did he improve my vision, he is extremely thorough and his office staff is great. He has a good sense of humor and is kind and direct. We consider him a friend!! I would recommend him in a second. I had a follow-up visit with Dr. Tang, after a weekend visit to the emergency room. I arrived on time and within minutes, I was met by the nurse, who performed the usual vision test. After about 15 minutes - this is required waiting time to ensure my eyes were fully dilated - the doctor came in. He quickly reviewed his notes and started the exam. He has great bedside manners, he is diligent, very polite - he said thank you every time I followed his instructions. After his exam, he explained the results of the exam in plain English. He is an excellent doctor and I would not trust my eyes to another else. read more

I brought a geriatric special need client to see him. The first person to evaluate him was forcing him to read despite have an intellectual disability. The client advocated for himself and told her he could not read and since he couldn't she wrote in his chart that he was uncooperative. Nancy was our saving grace. She was so kind to him and was able to evaluate his vision with pictures. However, when Dr. Tang came in, he was almost abusive to my client trying to get the eye drops in. My client was yelling that he was hurting him. The doctor had NO BEDSIDE MANNER at all whatsoever. He did not make eye contact or conversation with us but continued to look at the computer and type. The conversation he did finally make with us was minimal. No one should be treated this roughly with trying to shove heads into the machines or with the eye drops. On the way out, the receptionist was exceptionally rude as well. read more

Dr. Tang is brilliant - he saw me at 8:30 pm upon referral from cataract surgeon and he did surgery early morning two days later and all went well. He carefully explained all of the issues and procedure. He used a local "Surgisite" in Waltham that was staffed by wonderful people. Dr. Tang's office is clean and his staff is excellent. It seems busy and there is a lot of time pressure, however, they are pleasant and helpful. Dr. Tang is accused of lacking in bedside manner and I agree; however, after a few visits we each came to appreciate each other's feelings and gained mutual respect. He does take his work seriously, which is what all of my contacts tell me is what you want in a surgeon - anal, compulsive, and smart. So, I am glad I was referred to him and I am glad he did my retina surgery. I am phobic about all eye treatments, and I actually look forward to my next follow up appointment. read more
