I am writing to share my experience working with Restore Construction following a devastating fire that impacted my business in Chicago. From the moment the fire occurred, the situation was overwhelming. As a business owner, the uncertainty surrounding the damage, the insurance process, and the potential interruption to our operations was incredibly stressful. Fortunately, Restore stepped in and immediately demonstrated a level of professionalism, persistence, and care that exceeded my expectations. One of the most impressive aspects of working with Restore was their ability to perform the fire restoration work while we remained partially open. They understood the importance of keeping our doors open for our customers and worked carefully around our operations. Their team was respectful, organized, and extremely sensitive to the nature of our business, which made a very difficult situation much more manageable. In addition to the high-quality restoration work, Restore also played a critical role in advocating on our behalf with the insurance company. Our Business Personal Property claim was drawn out for well over a year, and at times it felt like we were getting nowhere. Restore never gave up. They remained persistent, continued pushing the insurance company, and fought to make sure our claim was handled properly. Thanks to their dedication and persistence, the insurance company ultimately paid the full policy limits on our business claim. That outcome made an enormous difference for us and helped our business fully recover after the fire. The restoration work itself was excellent. The quality, attention to detail, and professionalism of the team were outstanding. Restore delivered exactly what they promised and helped us navigate one of the most challenging situations our business has ever faced. I cannot thank Mike Santoro and the entire Restore team enough for their hard work, integrity, and commitment to their clients. They truly went above and beyond for us. If anyone ever needs a restoration company that will stand by them, fight for them, and deliver exceptional results, I would recommend Restore without hesitation. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Restore Construction out of Melrose Park, IL. After a fire, they took our home items for cleaning and restoration, but many of the items were returned in the same condition as before. My couches were even returned incomplete, which was extremely frustrating. The entire process took months to resolve, and communication was terrible throughout. Customer service constantly gave me the runaround instead of providing clear answers or updates. Overall, the experience added more stress during an already difficult situation. I would not recommend this company based on my experience. 0 starts. Horrible experience. Your company made our situation way harder and difficult. Stop showing up when customers don't hire you directly, being in contact with fire department doesn't give u the right to show up. Stop taking advantage of older ppl making them sign things they might not fully understand. Your company is trash. read more

I usually do not like to write reviews but felt like I have to. Do not trust this company please. If you do decide to go with them make sure you are getting their crew not some Home Depot crew that did my house after a fire. Me and my daughter were coming when we could and everytime we came it was a different crew with no one watching them. After the work was completed I had nails coming out the wall, stuff not painted, some paint stain on the floor, windows and floor already cracking. Yes some got fix but not all.I have been asking for my ac unit to get fix and a hole on the side of the house for over 3 months and nothing. It has been a run around. Now i have a leaking faucet ,one that moves and a wall that is leaking water.I am just tired of the run around and lies that they tell.Since my house is not million dollar house its no rush like they told my daughter but they sure got paid half a million to fix it. read more

Mike, The renovations at my home are complete and I want to personally thank you and your staff for the improvements. Seriously, everyone deserves some recognition. You saw my home shortly after the water damage occcurred. I decided not to leave my home prior to construction and I described it to family and friends like living in a garage. I was miserable for those six weeks but I am equally pleased with the outcome. My home looks fabulous! You should submit before and after photos to Better Homes & Gardens Magazine. I would like to single out Katie who I worked with daily. Professional. Efficient. And frankly, quite likable. I would ask, "Katie, what about (fill in the blank)?" And inevitably her response was, "I took care of it." You would be foolish not to expand her role with your company. Summer is winding down and I am going to enjoy the remaining days with my new surroundings. Thank you again. Michael Pignotti, Tinley Park read more

We had a huge tree fall on our house, and Restore Construction was absolutely amazing from start to finish. They came out right away to assess the damage and had our roof repaired the very next day! The team was incredibly efficient, professional, and did a fantastic job. You can't tell anything happened--everything looks perfect. They took a very stressful situation and made it completely manageable. We're so relieved and grateful for their quick response and quality work. Highly recommend Restore Construction if you're ever in need of emergency repairs or restoration! read more

We just closed on our house and the seller did not clean anything for a year. Restore came in and completely cleaned everything. They were extremely professional, efficient, and quick in their work. I couldn't recommend them enough. Thank you Restore Construction! read more

Restore has been wonderful in helping us work through a fire at our home. Our project manager, Chris, has been absolutely fantastic to work with. He is incredibly kind and helpful, always willing to meet up very quickly, and is a very hard worker. Chris patiently answers all of my questions and gets back to me immediately. His crews' work quality is top notch. In addition, the Restore owners were kind, professional and clear in explaining the process. The pack out and moving crews also did a great job. Finally, Restore really knows how to deal with the insurance company and takes all of that work and stress away from the client. Can't imagine how we would have gotten through this without Restore. If you find yourself in need of disaster recovery and restoration services (hopefully you don't!), I highly recommend Restore. read more

I hired Restore after experiencing a house fire. From beginning to the end someone from Restore guided me through the entire process. They arranged the dry cleaning service to remove all clothing and textiles from my home. They arranged for all of my items to be removed from my home and to be cleaned. They took care of everything! During the renovation, they gave me the BEST contractor! His name is Tom Furczon. I'll admit that I am fussy and very attentive to details. Tom had the perfect disposition to work well with me. I am beyond thrilled with the work done on my home. The team that removed things from my home were very trustworthy. I inadvertently left money, personal identification documents, and jewelry behind. I am grateful that it was ALL returned to me. Finally, Restore has phenomenal customer service. Of course there were a few minor hiccoughs that were addressed and remedied in real time. I assure you that they stand behind their service and workmanship. Many thanks to Candi and Paige for their attention and assistance. I hope I never have to use Restore again, but they'd be my first choice in a devastating event. read more

I contacted Restore Construction after an ice-damming disaster that damaged the interior on three levels of my home, as well as my roof. Chris and his team were amazing! They immediately began the mitigation process to ensure that all moisture was removed from the interior of the walls. Then came the transformation. I was provided with the most professional and skilled construction crew (Joe you are amazing!). I was so impressed that rather than having them merely restore my home, I had them renovate my entire kitchen. Every tradesman that I was referred to was fantastic, including Joe from StoneBiz and Damian from Ultimate Millwork. I couldn't be more thrilled with the finished product. See for yourself in the before and after pictures! read more

AWESOME!!!! Nancy and the restore entire team is far beyond AMAZING. They were very knowledgeable about the job and work to be done. Darla took the time, and much patience, because I'm a senior and explained every thing before and during the process. Nancy is the GOAT she has given so much support. They did a amazing job on my basement. I will definitely recommend using them because you won't be disappointed. read more

** update ** 10/2018 ** though pleased with the outcome I'm very disappointed with the "follow up". I have been waiting since August for my reimbursement for my window treatments & a/c units bought out of pocket ($4500.00). Either I get the run around just ignored. very, very disappointed and STILL WAITING. (Original review) I can not thank Restore enough for all their help and compassion during a very difficult time. The day of the fire they made sure my house was safe and found accommodations for me and my family. I was at a total loss and they were there for me from hour 1. The restoration was on-time and the out come was absolutely beautiful. They treated my salvaged belongings with the utmost care. I was treated like family! I couldn't be more pleased!!! Thanks to everyone at Restore. read more

They were fast, friendly and knew what they were doing. From the first day to the last. We were so overwhelmed when our brick home was hit by a car leaving a Hugh hole in the wall. Had no idea what to do or who to call. They showed up at the seen and in minutes my anxieties were eased. I would definitely use them again! Thanks guys read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. I mistakenly used them after they put on on a hard sell to restore our 3-unit condo building after a fire on the roof deck a year ago. They showed up when the building was practically still in flames and (over)sold us our on their restoration and public adjusting services. I've been through several project managers, all of which are terrible communicators (need to email at least 5 times and leave several voicemails before getting a 2 sentence update) and have made costly errors that have delayed the project by months. This company has been bought out recently and the quality of their services have suffered. Do yourself a favor and go with a contractor through your insurance because they will be motivated to finish the project quickly and correctly. read more

My parents' house had fire damage last summer which required a full gut of the interior. Mike and Chris at Restore were very professional throughout the entire process, and I would highly recommend them to anyone going through a similar situation. They were involved from day 1 of the damage assessment, itemizing damaged personal belongings, coordination with the city/ permitting, and restoration/ construction of the space. Restore's team did a great job taking us through the details and next steps. They worked directly with the insurance company which helped a lot since the whole ordeal was stressful enough for my parents. We coordinated with Julian and Chris during the construction process and really appreciated all their hard work. My parents will be moving into their renovated home next week. The space inside looks amazing and my parents are very happy they went with Restore. read more

Restore Construction certainly made the experience of having a home fire & everything that goes with it much more manageable all the way around. The board up crew were right there to secure my home. The owners sat me down & took the time to explain the process even though I was in a state of shock. The pack out crew...they handled my belongings with the utmost respect. Most of them were there finishing up as I continued to sift through personal papers. The gals hugged me tightly before I left & told me it was all going to be ok as I cried in their arms. Staff would come to our temporary apt to drop off/pick up paperwork instead of us having to travel out to them. It was a hellish ordeal that I don't wish upon anyone. Between weather, issues with permits/inspections from our town, I was calling/following up with the office. Anyone that I'd spoken with listened with compassion & answered my questions kindly. There were times where I just needed to vent & cry. They took the time to allow me to do that more so than they probably should have. I was having such a difficult time because the inspections were taking so long that during one meeting I could only shake & cry. I had a friend with me & Restore allowed me go through my little breakdown & made sure my friend all the specifics. It was almost a year & a half & I was out of my mind. We'd moved 5x by the time we got back in our home & in all that, Restore & their crews hung in there with me, holding me up with kindness & respect. They contracted a wonderful Dry Cleaner & the contractors that finished off my house did an excellent job. If you're on the northside, you'll probably get Gold Medal Cleaners & I would definitely ask for BOR Construction. I'm grateful that Restore partners with these wonderful companies! I feel that Restore Construction took very good care of us & am grateful for how they put up with me in my extreme emotional state, treating me with respect & kindness. I won't ever forget that. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I have written a review pertaining to this company and their unprofessional work. I am updating my review because more has occurred. Apparently, my (3) year warranty expired maybe a week before I contacted Restore about water leaking in my downstairs bathroom. I'm not for sure how long the water had been leaking but, I called Restore immediately when I saw water in the ceiling. Restore instantly said the tenant was running water and caused the damage as usual. I contacted Restore and they informed me they will not be doing anything about the issue it's basically my problem. When I called the plumber, they informed me that the water pipes came loose. The pipes were not sealed properly (pipes are located behind the wall in the shower). How is that my fault or the tenant? Now I have a bill for two bathrooms and a plumber. Oh, Chris the manager informed me Restore is trying to sell the company. I will also contact State Farm because these people are on their preferred list of contractors :-O. read more

My parents' house had a pretty bad fire last year and Restore did an AMAZING job restoring it. They were willing to work with my parents (who are not the easiest people to work with) to get the house not only to back to the way it was, but definitely made it better. Chris, the project manager, was great. He's patient, reliable, and always communicative. Even though I live in New York and my parents are in Chicago, he always kept me up to date on the progress. Restore definitely made a horrible situation a lot easier. read more

Overall we were happy with Restore. read more

AVOID! PLEASE AVOID! These guys did work for an insurance claim in my condo several years back. Each and everything they 'repaired' has failed and has had to be redone. The work was comically bad! -They poured a shower basin without a waterproof membrane. It leaked into the unit below and had to be torn out. All tiles on the floor and wall popped off. -Instead of re-piping the plumbing for the drain, they apparently used scrap pipes. To block off unnecessary T's and Y's, they sprayed Great stuff foam into the pipes to block them up. This, of course failed and caused leaks. -For some unknown reason, they connected my washing machine drain pipe with a Y style fernco (a flexible rubber coupling). They shoved a ball of duct tape into the opening and then wrapped it with duct tape to seal it and buried it behind drywall. This, of course failed and leaked into the unit below. I witnessed some of the crappy work while they were doing it, specifically on the shower basin. I told the workers they were doing it incorrectly, but they did not speak english. I called the company to complain, and they said they spoke to the crew and it would be fixed. When I got home from work, it was all covered up and they said it was re-done correctly. Complete lie!!!! It took several years for the leaks from the shoddy work to become major enough that they were noticed downstairs. This caused a lot of rot and mold. Repairing all the mistakes has cost me thousands of dollars. Be warned, they do not know what they are doing. Many of the 'mistakes' were blatant. It would have been easier for their crew to do the job right.... I have to assume they simply have no clue what they are doing. read more

This company was hired to restore my home after a car lost control the week before Christmas 12/19/2020 causing major damage, from the very start it was nothing but, lies dishonesty and bad attitudes. prior to them starting the repairs in good faith I signed over the check from State Farm to get the work started, which was the biggest mistake I ever made I clearly should have waited to the job was complete. I was given a date when the work would start when they hadn't even went to the village to obtain the permit, some of my personal items were lost, the floor in my dining room is unlevel, they half painted part of my home actually painting a wall in my dining room a totally different color than it should have been, thresh hole plates were missing, from others screws were missing, loud popping noise when I open my front door, they performed a terrible caulking job which cause water damage around my new living room windows, loose siding, paint stained utility sink, in my bath tub, also paint on the shelf where my bedroom tv sit, on of the outside light fixtures that was put up even today won't stay in place!! I made contact with several staff members even one of the owners who never followed up when I ask him to come out to show him first hand my concerns, they left a shit load of nails in my driveway damaging tires from a friends car!!! Gabe, Sue and Liz were great helping me get through the situation ALL THE REST OS THE ASS HOLES I DELT WITH were just THAT!!! ASS HOLES AND I WOULDN'T REFER OR RECOMMEND they build.. a scratching post for a cat, a dog house or even a hamster wheel!! they did a half ass job and I hope that Restore Construction company fold like a tent closing it's doors for ever so no one else have to experience and FYI the one star I did give them wasn't because I wanted to!!!!! good luck Restore hopefully u'll it and then some!!!! read more

I have worked in property management for years, and have worked with Restore to handle emergency clean up and repairs for three fires and a flood at multi-family buildings. The emergency response was fantastic, helping organize a chaotic scene. They go to bat for you when the insurance company is being difficult. And throughout long, involved repair jobs, they kept communication open and worked to make sure everyone returned home to see a job well done. They know the business, and can handle everything from boarding up and securing the building when the firefighters leave to making sure the finishing touches are what you want. read more

Still not finished dealing with them. They did pay for the things that they lost, but not enough.

by the time of my disaster (fire) I did not pay attention the damage of my exterior tuck point, now its to bad i don't know what to do

Restore Construction was hired to do fire damage repair because they were a preferred provider of our insurance carrier. The company is sadly lacking in communication. They are unlikely to return telephone or e-mail messages for weeks at a time.I called the office and cell phone numbers. The job took more than 8 months. The final work done was good. However when they know that you have a check for payment they are on the spot! I would not recommend using their company. read more

They do not deserve one star. Restore Construction is a bunch of crooks. After a house fire they have not completed work promised and took over a year to complete warranty work. When contacting them to discuss matters, I am ignored. Do yourself a favor and choose another contractor. Any other contractor. I think I would of been better off with a no name outside Home Depot looking for work. Could not be more disappointed. Plain and simple they suck. read more

My mother and aunts house caught fire in 2014, Restore provided a board up for them. They naturally wanted to use the same company for the build. Well, it took 2 years for them to fix the house, they only had two men working on the home. They had to take Restore to court because they did subpar work, made false documents that they submitted to the insurance company. They also fixed the house it seems with crazy glue. Everything that they have done has come apart or loose in 5 yrs. This is crazy how could what they called a brand new home look like this after a short period of time. Save yourself the worry, time and frustration and go with a reputable company. There is no way they should have passed the inspections, but somehow they did. We hired a private company to inspect the home and they said it was so much wrong. This was such a nightmare that we are still dealing with to this day. I know they thought the review wouldn't come however this is ridiculous. I hate it happened and I didn't take on a more hands on role. read more

I have no hesitation in recommending Restore Construction. We live in a large community where several homes sustained damage from a spring storm that brought hail and strong winds. Luckily my home was not as bad as others. I immediately called the folks at Restore Construction who worked tirelessly with State Farm to get all of my damage covered. Many of my neighbors were not as lucky. A lot of them had several issues and struggle even six months later to get there homes fixed. The local contractors have run out of product. The insurance companies have denied claims and dropped customers. I on the other hand could not be happier with the way my house turned out. I had no issues what so ever with anyone at the company. I was in constant contact with Jacob, my general contractor, who kept me apprised of every step of the project. From start to finish, the folks at Restore Construction could not have been more professional, honest, and friendly. In a time of extreme vulnerability, my family could not have felt more cared for than when the family at Restore Construction came through and helped us through this difficult time. read more

I had my floors redone after water damage. Restore was recommended by the flooring co. as movers. They moved my stuff out, warehoused it and then moved me back in. Almost all of my wood furniture was gouged or scratched. My pots and pans were piled and stuffed into the cabinets ready to fall out. The drawers had contents poured into them straight from the boxes. Shoes and measuring cups and bowls were in the utility closet. All of my books were piled on chairs. It took me months to get my place back together. And the "professional" guys who did the work were less than interested in the move. They charged over $6800 and my place is a mere 800 Sq ft!!! On December 29, 2016 I came home to find water pouring through my kitchen ceiling destroying everything - I felt helpless. My refrigerator, stove, tile, backsplash, and cabinets were soaked with the worst part being that all of our families photos were waterlogged. 100 years of our family's history was floating around in cardboard boxes. My wife and I were nervous, scared and unaware of our options. Initially, we contacted our insurance company and they, after an initial inspection, we're only going to cover about 50% of the damage because they claimed that a lot of the damage was "wear and tear". We were floored! So I began to speak with friends and who eventually put us in contact with Restore. They came out with the insurance company and proved that the damages were from the flood and not "wear and tear" and the insurance company eventually sided with us. Thank God because we are now in the process of renovating the damaged areas. We pride ourselves on being DIY'ers but we are glad that we chose to call in the pros for this one! Chris M from Restore came out 4-5 separate times to make sure we had all of our questions answered. From start to finish, we highly recommend Restore. read more
