I love Restoration Hardware and you throw the word "outlet" behind it I'm sold. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the RH Outlets, I've been to the Irvine, Vista and San Diego locations..all great but this review is for Vista. The reason for docking one star, their computer system suuucks. For a well established expensive furniture retail store you'd think they'd have a better check out system but sadly no. I guess with outlet comes shotty computers. I've been several times and each time I've seen their computers go down, one time all systems were down and they asked customers to come back in an hour.
Nonetheless, I'm willing to put up with it cause sometimes you can snag some really great items at decent prices. It's just a matter of checking the inventory and prices frequently. For those who have never been the way it works is you "hold" an item. They write your name down on a piece of paper, slap it to the item and you have 1hr to decide if you want to buy it. If not someone else has the opportunity to jump in. This is one of those instances where if you snooze you lose. Story time: one time I was there I saw a couple hold a bed but another lady had placed a hold on the matching end tables and dresser. The couple was adamant on purchasing the whole set but they had to wait an hour to see if the lady would return to buy the items. The sales rep was frantically calling the lady to see if she still wanted the items but no answer and per policy they had to wait. I didn't get to see how it worked out but VERY exciting to sit back and watch. After you buy if you have the right transport vehicle you can take it right away, or they hold the item while you come back with the right vehicle or you use their third party moving company Beeline which charges so much a mile.
As for customer service it's hit or miss. Some are super nice and helpful and others could care less you walked in. Those sales rep that are "snootier" look like they have clientele that phone in on a regular basis for specific items cause I've seen them jump through hoops. But let's be real, I'm in there to find the cheapest item and walk out with a deal. It's probably written on my forehead cause I'd be the one that's asking "is an additional 50% really the best you guys can do?" read more
