I awoke Thursday morning with such a stiff neck I could barely turn my head. I've had massages in the past but that was before moving to. Reston. Looked on Yelp and this was the first one. Called when they opened and got right in. This was exactly what I needed, though it was a bit tough at times because of my pain level. Chen, the therapist knew what to work on, how to get the neck moving better. I will be returning next week for continued release of muscles. Reston Therapy Massage was an absolutely wonderful experience. Making an appointment online was easy, and their entire check-in and payment system was state-of-the-art. I was greeted warmly when I arrived by both Chen and Tina. They gave me water and asked my preferences for the massage - stones or oil with my choice of scent. In addition to the medical information, you use their system at check-in to identify areas to focus on for relief. So easy. The room was so lovely - clean, inviting, warm, and comfortable. Tina was my masseuse and she was incredible - probably the best massage I've ever had. She put just the right amount of pressure everywhere, focused on the spots I requested, and took her time. I work long days at a computer, and it results in tension in my lower back, legs, and shoulders. Tina hit just the right spots and relieved so much pain and pressure. She even did my feet, face, and hands and pressed just hard enough in the right places to be relaxing and never painful. It was so good, I asked for 30 more minutes (I had made an appointment for the 60 minute Swedish). They not only went for the full 90 minutes, they applied the discount to the extension. I have massages very frequently. I arrived and was greeted by Chen. Very kind man. I specifically stated upon making the appointment that I wanted someone who was knowledgeable of anatomy and muscle attachments and insertions. It was evident to me that this was not the case. With my back hurting the way it was, my iliopsoas needed work, he did not really know how to address that. I made an appt for deeper tissue and most of the time it was Swedish massage techniques which does not help me at all. I wanted my lower back and my neck worked on, only my back really got the work. During my massage, he was constantly texting as I would hear the text go through. I finally said, are you texting while massaging me? He explained that the receptionist was on vacation. While on the table face down, I heard the door open and in comes a lady who walked up to grab something out of the room that appeared to be a box!! Like what the entire hell?! Massage is a vulnerable situation! Why is there someone else walking into the room while I'm on the table! I was pissed! This is not good. At the end of the massage which he said he would give me hot stone and 10 extra mins..that doesn't do anything because the entire atmosphere was disrupted. It was no longer a healing atmosphere but one of commerce. This was a waste of money, I would not recommend anyone go here. Yes they were nice and kind but that is not all that you want. Very disappointing experience UPDATE: So I contacted the massage place and told them I wanted a refund! The more I thought about my experience, the angrier I got and the more creeped out I became. No massage therapist should have their cell phone texting while the client is naked on the table! I was told they would refund my money if I removed the negative review. Huh? Say what?! I asked her if they were bribing me. She said we will give you the refund if you remove the yelp review. They told me to remove the review first and then they will give me the refund. I said ABSOLUTELY NOT! Refund my money because I have already allergens the credit card company and THEN I will go to Yelp. I was clear to not say I would remove the review because that would be lying and to not leave a review would be dishonest and disingenuous. I told them to simply void the transaction. They called me back and said they would send a Zelle. no void the transaction because it will be charged and then the cc company will dispute the charge. Anyhow. They sent Zelle and from that time on Chen has been sending me text messages almost daily! They attempted to call me on a few occasions but I am working and there is nothing else to discuss. The last was quite disturbing. The first message I thought ok..made me feel kinna bad and I wasn't going to add this part of the review but then the messages kept coming and after the last one I told him to STOP TEXTING ME. I support small businesses but this business is creepy and I am not one for manipulation! Screenshots of some of texts sent! Once we spoke ok the phone there is no need to blow up my phone during my workday. So I'm convinced that the 5.0 star rating is not the full picture as I have experienced. read more

My search led me to Reston Therapy Massage, where I could easily book an appointment completely online without having to make a phone call. The building was very easy to find with plenty of parking. The waiting room was clean and simple, and Chen, my massage therapist, met me promptly at the door. I filled out on my phone a form specifying my concerns (tension! head, neck, and shoulders) and then I was led back to a gorgeous massage room. The room was pristine and warm, and it smelt like calming lavender. The massage table was already preheated, and was relaxing from the moment I laid down. Chen is an expert at what he does. He took into an account my concerns and focused on my neck and shoulders at a perfectly firm but comfortable pressure. It's very clear he's expertly trained and experienced in his practice, but still takes the time to customize his massages. The whole time I was laying there, I was just planning my trip back. My therapist, Chen, provided me relief from a severe kink and extreme pain in my shoulders and neck. I could hardly move during my first visit. Chen has done wonders.
