This place is SO good! I had the lamb and beef salad combo for lunch and like most of the reviews say, the portions of meat are HUGE!! Like, dang... can I have some salad for my meat?! But no complaints over here. If I wasn't at work, I would have eaten it all in one sitting. I had a lot of meat leftover that I took home and ate the next day. Left over lamb on top of my Momma's mac and cheese... YES, PLEASE! Reston Kabob is a small eatery just outside of Reston Town Center. Before I visited Reston Kabob I would normally eat at Charcoal Kebab in Herndon on Elden Street. However I was told the food was good here. I ordered the lamb kabob which came with some rice and bread. The food was remarkably good! I paid around $10 for the whole meal which isn't that expensive at all, especially for what you get! There isn't much atmosphere at this place, in fact none at all really. For a much warmer and interesting atmosphere, Charcoal Kabob in Herndon is far better and the food is just as good and is also in the same price range. My coworkers and I eat here every week.... faithfully. The kabobs are the best I've had. Typically I get the chicken kabob, but have experimented with the lamb and beef and kabobs as well. I have never been disappointed. The meat is well seasoned and very tender, and I absolutely LOVE their fresh-made pita bread. Do not be deceived by the looks of the restaurant, as the interior is very bland, with very limited seating space. If you are looking for a nice sit-down Lunch/dinner... this is not your place. I've tried most of the kabob places in the fairfax area and after several visits I am prepared to crown Reston Kabob with the title of Best Chicken. Im not sure how they do it, but whether you get the chicken kabob or chicken kobeeda, they are both a home run. Their beef is decent but other places have them beat here. Nice portions, big piles of rice, a salad, large piece of naan bread, ,alll quite good. The dining area isn't the cleanest, very much a hole-in-the-wall feel. Their service is a bit indifferent, they simply take your order, ring you up and move on to the next person. Dont really have any expectations other than that. The best Kabob place in the area. Ive tried others in the Reston, Herndon, Sterling area and they are the best by far. I just want back there for the first time in ages. Sadly, I dont live close enough anymore. Food is still great. One thing to note, as they have been doing this for years, is not to bother calling ahead to order. When you call ahead, dont expect the order to be waiting for you when you arrive. They take the order over the phone, but then put it off to the side. Wow what a disappointment. 19$ for a lamb platter with a tiny amount of lamb and some horrible mayonnaise sauce.

So first of the food was great and beyond huge in portion size. I had the lamb kabob and it was nice and tender and cut very easily with the plastic fork/knife. It was all seasoned excellently. I just ate there for lunch and I will not be eating dinner and I didn't finish everything they provided! So as great as the food was it took about 25 min just to get my order at lunch. I would understand if there would have been 20 people in front of me but when I came in there were 5 orders ahead of mine. The inside of the place looks a bit like a run down cafeteria from the 70's. It doesn't seem dirty but it doesn't seem clean either. They also do not have a wide selection of things on their menu which I'm actually a fan of because they should focus on what they are good at, but for people who are going to bring kids there aren't the fall backs for you on what to get them. Overall I will be going back but the long wait and the price are things to be aware of. My lunch mean was $14 but I really could have split this meal with someone else for how big it was. read more

I've been to Reston Kabob a few times and I have not been impressed with the place. The location is not great and the tables and chairs always seem greasy. Gordon Ramsay would probably suggest a good cleaning for the place. I usually get the kabobs and both the beef and chicken seem pretty average, not four star material. The beef is a bit tough and the chicken tends to be over cooked and dry. The guy behind the counter glued to his iphone just completes the Reston Kabob experience. Pretty friggin good. The portions are huge and the food is quality! I really like the Kobeeda Kabob ... the Lamb and Chicken are good too, but Kobeeda is best. Worst customer service ever. Placed an Order for the latest time possible (due to Ramadan and late sunset) I get a notification that it's coming one hour early. They make up some BS excuse as to why that's happening and refuse any workaround of the problem. Now those of us fasting will eat dried up cold, overpriced Kabob. Reston Kabob is the kind of place that you drive by a million times in your busy life and say, "Someday we should check that place out." I am here to tell you that today should be the day. It's tucked into the back of an office/restaurant complex with such gems as Chili's, Popeye's, and 7-Eleven. Its neighbor is a tiny tailor/dry cleaner--and Reston Kabob is roughly the same size as the tiny cleaners. Pictures on the wall depict your menu--choices of kabob (beef, lamb, chicken, mix) and kobeeda (chicken or regular which appears to be beef/lamb mix), and a listing of "daily specials" that never changes and includes gyros and salads. There's also a buffet lunch for about $6 that looks great (a choice of about 6-8 items on a single cart) if you're in a hurry during the rush. The gyro is delicious-very spicy (not the hot kind of spicy, the flavorful kind) and a really generous portion, made with bread that must be made in-house, and of course it goes great with the yogurt-ranch sauce (not exactly tzatziki, but tasty!) that they have in the squeeze bottles on the table. My personal favorite is the kobeeda--it's a big handmade sausage full of FRESH herbs (you can actually see the green!!) and onions and spices. It's always cooked perfectly--a little crisp on the outside, cooked thoroughly, but never dry or crumbly. It comes with one scoop of plain basmati rice and one scoop of paprika-spiced rice, the fresh bread,and a small salad. It's probably plenty of food for two but my husband and I still always end up ordering one for each of us because we want some more for dinner and lunch the next day. The paprika sauce on the table is an absolute must for the kobeeda--it tastes great without it, and it's even better with it! Including two fountain drinks you can get out of there for two people under $20--and that includes more leftovers than you'll know what to do with. Because this is obviously a fresh-food operation, there is a certain amount of prep time necessary, especially during off-times, since I'm sure during the peak hours they probably just have a bunch of everything cooking away, ready for you to order. It is absolutely worth the wait. There may be a line during peak hours but remember: that is an indication of their popularity. People go there because it is absolutely awesome. read more

Finger-licking damn good sauces. The place itself is pretty small and very casual and there's always a big lunch rush, but that doesn't stop me from coming back time and time again. We went here for lunch today based on all the great Yelp reviews. As usual, the reviews were spot on. This place does a ton of business for the tiny place it's in. The line was almost out the door several times. I guess a lot of others thought it was worth the wait too. I ordered the Gyro sandwich and it certainly did not disappoint. It was a good value (huge portion size), the meat was perfect and not overcooked, and the pita bread was delicious. We definitely found a gem today in Reston. We'll be back soon! read more

I am so glad that I found this place! I wanted a gyro salad so badly and was trying to figure out where in Reston they would have them since I was going out that way. After looking at the many kabob places in the area, this place had the best reviews and I can definitely see why. I ordered my gyro salad and chickpeas on the side. The gyro salad was about 65% gyro meat and 35% salad which I didn't mind at all because I've been using the meat for my leftover lunches. Yes, I was able to use the meat for the salad AND 2 leftovers afterwards...thats how much was in that to-go box. They gave me about a ton of white dressings and spicy dressing, which was..mhmm...too spicy for me. I'm a baby when it comes to spicy food. The meat was not dry at all, seasoned well and very tasty. The chickpeas were nice and soft with a bit of a spicy sauce on it, but delicious overall. I can't wait to come back and try the kabobs. Huge portions and great prices! This is the place i come to get my beef and chicken kabob. I have been to many kabob places surrounding reston/herndon but out of all the restaurants, this is my best place to go. There is no service but doesn't matter, food is still awesome. I think price may be slightly higher than usual to go places but the amount of food you geti in a combo is amazing. I usually call in before going since the line can be pretty long, and it takes time to charocol the chickens and stuff. I hardly ever eat inside although they have lots of tables, mainly because so many people are walking in and out constantly and when you go there it feels like you are at some low budgetted cafeteria so I prefer to eat at home. Reston Kabob is a small eatery in the heart of Reston Virginia. Now, Reston may not be known for its Afghani cuisine, but don't let that discourage you. When you walk in, you won't be excited either. Plain white walls and basic veneer tables don't scream good food, but once again don't judge until you've had a dish. I've had the kabeeda kabob and the chicken kabob, however, I will repeatedly go back for the kabeeda. Be weary of the beef or lamb kabob's, I hear they aren't as good. But, should you heed my advice and go with the kabeeda, I think you'll enjoy it. It's spiced very well and there are good spices and sauces at the table to eat it with. It's pretty fantastic. Sometimes I just wanna wrap the kabob around my neck and wear it like an edible shawl. If you're in Reston, or coming home from Dulles, stop in to Reston Kabob. This is my last and final review of this place. I think when we started going a couple of years ago, this place was an entirely different place than it has morphed into now. Since they are closing I'm sure they don't give a s**t about how they do on Yelp (also clear from my most recent experience there) but I gotta be thorough. When my boyfriend and I first started coming here a couple of years ago, this place blew us away. The gryos were absolutely delicious and crafted in such a way that they were almost an art form (in the way the ingredients were all layered and bundled together for every bite to be perfect and the gyro to be neat, tightly packed and perfect for eating with your hands). The customer service was excellent--every time we went in it was like going to your local small-town sub-shop and catching up with the cashier who knew us by name. Then a few months ago--maybe 6 or so--our cashier lady who we had become friends with, was gone. We never saw the owner guy anymore, and started only interacting with a young spanish girl who looked like literally working at this place was the last thing in the WORLD she wanted to be doing. She stared at you with a blank look every time you walked up and seemed utterly put out to have to even be listening to you place an order. No smiles, no thank you's, no politeness, nothing. I tried to call in and place an order ahead of time a few times and 4 out of 5 times the phone would just ring endlessly--then one time we were in the store and I literally watched her not answer a phone for 10 minutes, then pick it up and hang it up without saying anything. Once in a blue moon she would answer--obviously when she felt like it. My boyfriend and I also noticed the quality of the gyros seemed to be going downhill. We eat there every week once a week (we call it our "gyro night" because we USED to love it so much so that we made a ritual of it) so we kind of figured some weeks might just be off but, after a while it became clear there must've been a change in staff or management or something and the quality was just appreciably worse. Everything that went INTO the gyro--onions, lettuce, tomatoes etc.--was in huge, inedible chunks just dumped onto the gyro (whereas before everything was thinly, carefully sliced and woven into the gyro with the meat). The strips of meat were huge hacked hunks, and the gyro would be spilling with ingredients, looking like it was just thrown together and sloppily wrapped up in foil. Previously, the gyros were packed neatly and nicely and you could eat no problem without making a huge mess--now they were virtually inedible without using fork and knife and practically a bib. We still liked the tastes though so we continued to go. We are majorly regular customers in that we come once sometimes twice a week, and after coming this often for the last year or so, my order had become a mainstay--I always ask if they can slice my meat really thin, since the huge thick slices gross me out. I get this is a kind of prima donna request but in the past they have always been happy to oblige and done a great job--my boyfriend's gyro is normal with thicker slices and he adds feta cheese, and mine were the thinner, more cooked slices. Since the staff/management change that I assume took place, they have been increasingly annoyed by this request--acting confused whenever I said it and then not really following through. But yesterday they pissed me off to the point I had to write this review and we won't be going there anymore. I asked for thin slices like I do every week, and my boyfriend went and picked it up. When I said it on the phone they even said "well we try to slice them all thin" and I just said "oh well we come in every week and I always say that and they always do a good job so, just figured I'd ask!" and laughed in a lighthearted way. What my boyfriend showed up with was 100% a clear "fuck you" from them--for the first time ever my gyro was in stale, tough, old bread, the vegetables were the hugest chunks they've ever done, and the meat was in such large chunks that it couldn't have been more obvious that they purposely gave me the hugest and thickest and least cooked chunks they had (my boyfriend's were regular sized like usual). I get that you guys are going out of business so you don't give a fuck anymore, but come on, you could at least treat your REGULAR, PAYING customers with a bit more loyalty and respect than that. I literally gave my gyro to my dog and didn't have dinner that night because I can't afford to blow $10 on a gyro and then just go buy something else. I'm going to find out what the Herndon store's name is and post this review there too since this place deserves some accountability--maybe your Reston store is closing but you still have one in Herndon! read more

Alright, wow...where to start?! Seriously, I am a kabob expert. I have been to so many kabob places in my life, but either they're too old, their taste has changed, or it's too overpriced. Ask me about any kabob place, I will let you know if it's good or not. Reston Kabob: yes, it's not your Morton's steakhouse or your Indeblue or any other high class place. They have two bathrooms in which only one person can go at a time...so you're using what others used. No servers, very small place, and no music. BUT, they DO have the best kabobs. Guaranteed. Juicy, succulent, tender, not too spicy, tasty, delicious, plumpy, kabobs. Not regular kabobs that are dry or overcooked or just too few. These are the type of kabobs that you're teeth sink into. Not ones that you have to tear apart with your incisors. So you're mouth doesn't do as much work and at the same time it's having the time of its life. Portions are HUGE. Seriously, it's not good to eat what they give you at one time. Now I know why America is so fat. It's great food. Rice, Salad, Bread, and KABOB. Their beef kabob (regular) and chicken kabob comes in 7 HUGE pieces (compared to other places that give you 5 small pieces). Don't even get started about the yogurt sauce. If you're reading this, I have two little containers of that yogurt sauce that I saved from last time I went. I'll eat it tomorrow with bread. Who gives a crap what you eat that yogurt sauce with. You can even eat with asparagus, and you'll say to yourself, "asparagus never tasted this good!". If you're taking out, then you must ask for it. And ask for 2 or 3 (trust me, you'll want it after the first little container). One down side though, I'm in this phase right now that I only eat healthy foods. If you're going "healthy", eat just kabobs from Reston Kabob. The bread (oh so tender), the rice (oh so tasty), and the yogurt sauce combined are probably the most fattening foods you can ever eat. The only things that aren't fattening from Reston Kabob are the actualy kabobs and the salad. Then again, they don't have nutritional information posted in there or on the cheesy website. There are so many negatives, but all of them combined don't even come close to how good the food is. WOW. Oh and here's what I do...I call and order 5 minutes before I get there. That way even if I hit a red light or am running late; by the time I get there the food is still warm. They say 10 minutes, and its 10 minutes...most of the time its less than 10 mins.
