Super cute spot with all the drawings of the owner!

Stumbled upon this spot while trying to Yelp for a local restaurant in a touristy area. No wait on a Monday evening around 7pm. This is truly a mom and pop shop as the mom is in the back cooking and the pop is overseeing the front. Cod fritters are SO GOOD. Piping hot and very fresh. Also the homemade spicy sauce is delicious. Please put it on everything!!! We got the fried cod (huge portion) and grilled sea bass. Everything was super fresh and hot. The house dessert is like a creamy tiramisu. would come back anytime. Meal was under 40 euros, including a liter of white wine.

    The owner waving bye.

The four of us went here on the third night of our trip to Lisbon. It was raining - hard - and we were tired from a whole day on our feet touring Belèm. It was early January, lots of restaurants still hadn't reopened from the Christmas holidays and we were looking for a "port in a storm" - pun somewhat intended. We met a local that recommended this place and, thank goodness, we decided to head straight there. The place seats about 45-50 and it filled about 15 minutes after we arrived around 7 pm. I am not going to tell you how unbelievable the food was - because it wasn't unbelievable. It was good with ample portions, really well-prepared and served quickly by the owner. It wasn't in any way mind-altering, but the experience was perfect. Small, tightly-spaced tables filled with a mix of tourists and locals. We ordered two veal steaks, a pork steak and a beef steak. Each came plated with rice, French fries, and some mixed Italian salad. All were good and we mostly cleaned our plates. We had a liter and a half of carafe wine - served from a box for like 4€/l -plus the olives and bread brought out when we were first seated. The total bill came to exactly 47€. We left here full, satisfied and feeling like pleased that we choose this little, hard-to-find gem. A testament to the owner/waiter is that the walls of the place are covered with hundreds of portraits of him, hand-drawn on napkins by happy patrons. If you are looking for Michelin stars, keep looking. If you want to fill your belly and have a beverage or two for $12-15€, head straight here.

Delicious food! I went with my family (4 people total), and we sat at one of the six tables. We ordered the cod cakes, sea bass, and the Vino Verde house wine to share. Everything was delicious! The man, who I assume was the owner, seemed unhappy that we shared food but was still a gracious host. He spent the whole time sprinting around the restaurant to make sure every table was taken care of.

Dessert: house dessert, chocolate mousse, cookie cake, and our favorite - 'camel drool'

Cozy family-run restaurant with INCREDIBLE food. We ordered 6 entrees, 4 desserts, and wine and every single thing was delicious. Huge portion sizes at ridiculously cheap prices. The family was extremely kind and welcoming, and fun to talk to :) It really is a hole-in-the-wall, but completely worth the visit and the best meal we've had in Lisbon. Highly recommend!

    Sea Bass special.

Great little place, off the beaten path, with local dishes. And way cheap. It was a great change from the expensive tapas places. Great fish and cheap beer! The restaurant is up a hill in a grittier part of town. Luciano was a great server! Highly recommended.

Grilled swordfish plate - all of the sides are covering up the huge piece of (delicious) fish!

Cheap & delicious food, large portions, cheap alcohol, tiny spot - highly recommend! It's a very small restaurant - probably a dozen or 15 two-person tables in total. Can push them together for bigger groups. Service is a little slow, but it's not bad. Just some nice Portuguese women. They have menus in multiple languages. I ordered the grilled swordfish (ran out of cod!). Huge portion of delicious, properly cooked fish. Really really good. Lots of fries, some rice and salad to go with. Fries could've been cooked a tad longer, but still tasty. Friend ordered the rump steak (caprinah?) and enjoyed it as well. We shared olives and a half litre of house wine, and our total bill was around £18. A fricken bargain!!! There might be a wait, so get there a little earlier than normal Portugal dinnertime. Otherwise, feast on!

Delicious grilled and fried cod platters with cold beer

Stopped in for lunch today after looking at Yelp for a nearby restaurant with good reviews. Wow, this sure did not disappoint! GREAT cod dishes (one grilled and one fried) of plentiful size and excellent quality. As the other reviews say, it's a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the walk if you seek a delicious, economical meal.

The restaurant was empty at 7pm but by 7:30pm it was very busy. The ambiance was jazzy and friendly, as was the wait staff who spoke English and were very helpful. Everything we ordered was delicious: the fish of the day - a white fish filet which was crumbed in hazelnuts served on mashed potatoes; baked cod; grilled octopus; and a very interesting vegetarian dish called Emotional Cabbage, which was a cabbage stew served on a huge amount of rice. The desserts were FABULOUS- Nata Goes Asian, which was very thin rice crackers that were drizzled with the traditional custard sauce of Portugal. It was a light dessert but very satisfying. The second was a brownie with vanilla ice cream which was also excellent. We ended the dinner with a complementary pour of a ruby port (brand unnamed). All in all, it was a fun casual dinner in a lovely restaurant. BTW, the restaurant is adjacent to the Hotel 1906. The decor was funky and like some of the names of the dishes, had a sense of humor, Prices were fairly reasonable. Definitely recommend.

As we were exploring the grass and…read moreneighborhood, walking up the hill to the lookout point, we came across this lovely restaurant house and a small hotel. We spoke with the server who indicated they would have lunch available till three and after seeing the delicious looking pan Asian menu we decided to come back after our walk. We are so glad that we did! It was a brisk but sunny day and we were able to sit out in a covered patio in the garden with beautiful plants and flowers all around. The server Was knowledgeable about the pan Asian menu, indicating some of the specialties from various parts of Asia. We selected a pod Thai dish which included black sesame and Julie and vegetables and was one of the best dishes I've ever had of that time. We also sampled some meat pastries, samosas, and a couple of salads. They also have burgers and other "American style" meals which also looks good. But the pièce de résistance was a salt and pepper chocolate cake which was one of the most delicious desserts I've ever eaten. It was a chewy chocolate cake dark but not better capped with sea salt and red pepper corns and was absolutely divine. We can't recommend the small restaurant and it's very menu enough to anyone who is lucky enough to be walking around Graca - And in fact if you are in Lisbon it is worth a bus or tram or even Uber ride to get there.

Food Quality: For around 8 euros you get a really fresh burger. I had the veggie Burger, which was more like a sandwich, but had a lot of really great and fresh roasted vegetables on it. So I can't judge on the meat quality. But everything was totally tastey. And the potato chips have been really crispy and yummy. Not drowned in oil. This was totally worth the money. Additional hint for best view point in Lisboa: leaving the location turn left and on the corner sharp left. You know, when you have the view. This is also not so croweded by tourists like this strange chapel.
