Tuna
Bobbi A.

Delicious fish. Well, they do sit right on the beach. I could swear they stepped into the ocean and caught it. It's so fresh and tasty. We had the Bachalhau, divine, so tender and flavourful, and the Tuna, which was also delicious. We were surprised it was not busier. A must try if you are in Salema.

Mussels in Cream sauce. Highly recommended!

Visiting from Houston, Texas. This place is a family owned business. Loved the ambiance and service! Everything we ate were delicious! Seafood were very fresh and the presentation were beautiful! Would highly recommend this place if you like quality and tasty food! Would definitely come back!

My wife and I were drawn to this restaurant by the wide variety of items on their menu. We arrived around 6pm with no reservations and were able to get a table on the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean . They do have quite a bit of seating available inside as well. My wife ordered the fish kebab while I got the prawns tagliatelle. The fish kebab was made of halibut, tomatoes and onions. It came with a healthy serving of cooked carrots and a couple small potatoes. My wife gave her dish two thumbs up. The prawns in my dish came with the heads and tails still on meaning I had a bit of work in front of me cleaning them up. Overall my dish was just OK. I wasn't a fan of the sauce. The portion was more than enough though. We had a local bottle of red wine to go with everything. Service was spotty at best with our original server just disappearing. We had to flag down another who took care of us the rest of the way.

Atlantico has a perfect location on the beach in central Salema, so it's easy to find and offers great views. The restaurant was recently re-done, and is beautiful. The staff was very friendly, and all were fluent in English. I had expected the typical Portuguese restaurant service - hands off, not much conversation - but our waiter was both funny and generous with his time. It probably helped that we were there in late June, before the peak of tourist season. The food was excellent. We ordered the sea bass special for 2, and it was great. The following day we ordered the cataplana for 2, was also great, but a lot of food. We definitely could have fed 3. The chocolate cake is good, and we tried the amarguinha on their recommendation and really enjoyed it. We ended up spending more than we expected, about 80 euro per meal (with water, wine, bread, main, dessert, dessert wine), but had such a wonderful experience that it was worth it. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough for a slightly fancier dinner with spectacular sunsets.

The worst service we've had in Portugal. It was so disappointing and unusual to feel so unwelcomed at a restaurant. We came I guess at an odd hour - 4pm, but then it is a beach town, we were jot the only ones there. If was somewhat busy, cut you can see the waiters were getting ready for the dinner time. So we waited... and waited... and waited... Our waiter didn't pay attention to us at all. He looked annoyed by our presence. The food was good I have to say.

Grilled sea bass, fresh veggies, and phenomenal view!

Overpriced, attitude, and horrible coffee. Caters to tourists. Good location and views, but not worth it for the food.

Not very homemade cooking in this beach restaurant. Poor food and lousy service. But it has a beautiful view over the ocean ...

Lota is good for groups and families, wielding picnic style benches, quick service, and affordable prices. But make sure to bring cash! We couldn't believe our eyes at some of the prices (pâté for only 0,6€?? squid for 11,50€??), but quickly learned that this was because the pâté came in a little peel-pack, and the sangria tasted like artificial strawberry juice. However, spend wisely and you will get full. The fish is mostly grilled, with minimal marination or fuss but it does taste pretty fresh. We were brought boiled potatoes and salad to accompany our meal which was a nice balance to the meal. Everything came out pretty quickly and it seemed like the vibe was to get diners in and out just as efficiently. No one was rude per se, but the staff very clearly were just waiting for their shift to be over so they could close up. Despite how convenient this eatery is, it probably wouldn't be on my places to return to when I'm back in Lagos.

It was, in a word, fantastic. First off-the service. The gentleman who attended our table was delightful. Patient in explaining the dishes, his favorites (which we ordered), and just a great sense of humor and kindness about him. Next, and importantly, the food was amazing. We had the Stonbass and the Turbot with potatoes and a mixed salad. Grilled to perfection, fresh as could be. The meal was so good. My partner had the lemon meringue (after the pastry chef suggested it). Light and lovely. It was a great meal. A great spot. A great staff. We could not have asked for more. Neither could you. Do it!

Everything was perfect! Highly recommended…read more We made reservations for lunch on a Wednesday. Glad we did. It was very busy. Excellent Sea Bass for my husband. And veggie soup along with algarvian salad for me. Prices were very reasonable. And quality of food was fantastic. Service was impressive. The best part of our entire dining experience was the kind beautiful smile and expert service by the young woman with beautiful black braids. Her name may have been Erika (she's expecting also). What a gem of an employee and definitely an asset to this restaurant. All in all a great lunch at a traditional Sagres family restaurant!!

We got there right at 6 and they gave us one of only 2 remaining tables, telling us we had to be done by 7:30pm. We started with prosciutto & melon which was AMAZING!!!!! And reminded us of Italy. My children got the house style spaghetti which was a cream sauce with tomatoes and ham. Neither kid could get enough! The pasta was soooo tasty. My husband and I shared the Mixed Catalana for 2 - prawns and clams. It was the best meal we had during our almost 2 week trip to Portugal. The broth was so delicious I could've drank it with my spoon. It was loaded with veggies too. Came with white rice on the side and some fried potatoes. Also my husband got a glass of house red wine which was a very generous pour! They only take cash, which we did not know ahead of time. But luckily there's an ATM across the street. They turned tons of people away while we were eating. I guess their system is reservation only from 5:30-7:30pm and then after 7:30pm they allow walks in on a first come, first serve basis.
