The pork stew and shrimp bread bowl are pretty good choices here for a place in historic downtown Sintra. Quality- the pork stew was filled with delicious broth, pig feet, pork belly, and tendon. My only critique is that it was too salty and having some more rice or bread to mop it up would be great. The shrimp bowl was ok. I would have liked more of the stew and the cut out bread on the side. They scrambled it and the mixture of filling turned mild. Quantity- you get a lot for the price here. Total of 30 euros. Atmosphere- it is too hot in here. I was sweating while I was eating. Service- fast good service.

It is a very delicious spot in Sintra downtown. We had a blast with the White House wine and with the excellent service of Artur Ramos. Food was succulent and delicious in very affordable generous portions. We had cod croquettes, cod Portuguese style and tuna salad. All was excellent. We will love to go back again!

We shared the seafood paella and it was delicious. Definitely worth stopping by and enjoying the dish. Very stylish and cavernous atmosphere. However, they do not accept credit cards... ended up using ATM across the restaurant.

Went to this restaurant with my MVP friends for lunch. I ordered the balcaljou a bras and that was amazing. A traditional dish and others you can order here. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and lovely food. However, they did not accept card only cash. So had to get cash across the street. In this day and age that's old fashioned.

WiFi is available if you need it. We ordered and while waiting, enjoyed a bottle of wine for €18, a great value for a sit down lunch. Food hit the table about 20 minutes in, which was perfectly reasonable. My wife went with the steak, potatoes, eggs and sautéed vegetables. The steak was seasoned perfectly. I had the codfish with cornbread, sweet potatoes and spinach, a dish that is distinctly Portuguese and done really well here. Generous portioning for one, and again the seasoning was spot on across the board. A small but appreciated detail: the espressos arrived on warm plates, a thoughtful touch that suggests the kitchen actually cares about what they're sending out. After a morning of climbing through Sintra's palaces and towers, this is exactly the kind of place you want to stumble upon. Highly recommend making it part of your afternoon.

We happened to look up restaurants on Travel Advisor and this one was highly rated. The outside dining area was appealing but as we walked inside, I was drawn in by the decor - clean, cozy, and serene. Their bathroom was stunning immersed in green tile. We were seated in the back next to a window with a beautiful view. Service was attentive yet unintrusive. We were so hungry and ordered quite a few dishes: Starters: Bread/Butter Olives Foie Gras White Anchovies Prawns with Garlic Main dishes: Caesar Salad (enough to be shared by 2 people) Steak was served medium rare and came with fries Bacalhau - Cod EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was delicious!! I did not realize that the Caesar Salad came with chicken. It was a meal of its own. However, the steak and cod were the highlight of our lunch experience! The steak was well-seasoned and tender. They made sure it was prepared medium rare. The cod was also tasty paired with sauteed greens and their version of mashed potatoes. Such a beautiful restaurant. This spot is a hidden gem in Sintra - give it some love and check it out.

Bacalhau na Vila -- A temple to Portugal's most iconic ingredient…read more Portugal has a deep culinary relationship with Bacalhau, and Bacalhau na Vila leans into that heritage completely. This isn't simply a restaurant that happens to serve cod; the entire concept is built around it. The menu explores bacalhau through multiple traditional preparations, each highlighting a different texture and flavour profile. We started with cream of spinach soup with cod, a surprisingly elegant opener. The soup was smooth and comforting, with the cod adding a savoury depth that balanced the creaminess without overpowering it. The appetizers showcased two beloved Portuguese classics. The codfish cakes (pastéis/bolinhos de bacalhau) were perfectly executed--light, crisp, and fluffy with well-balanced seasoning. The pataniscas, a looser cod fritter, had a rustic charm with a golden exterior and tender interior. For the main course we ordered roasted cod, which was excellent. The fish was flaky and deeply flavourful, demonstrating why bacalhau has been such an enduring staple in Portuguese cuisine. What makes the restaurant memorable is how intentionally it celebrates this ingredient. Cod has historically played a major role in Portugal's food culture, and Bacalhau na Vila turns that history into a cohesive dining experience. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional, with staff who clearly know the menu and take pride in the concept. If you're visiting Sintra and want to experience one of Portugal's most iconic ingredients prepared in several traditional styles, Bacalhau na Vila is a great place to do it.
