With a party of three, I went there as part of the Restaurant Week promotion. Suffice to say it must have been a tremendous success for the restaurant; we were very lucky to get a reservation, the place was completely packed on Friday night. We spent about 2 to 3 hours here.
The restaurant is located in central The Hague, and very tastefully decorated; positively minimal for an Indian restaurant. Everything is clean as a whistle, and the staff very attentive and friendly.
Due to the arrangement of the restaurant week, the menu was somewhat limited, in exchange for a reduced price of 25EUR per person, excluding drinks.
The three courses started with a choice between vegetarian samosa, lamb rolls, and chicken tandoori; we had one of each and they were all excellent, very flavor-rich and spicy. The choice of three chutneys with the bread (mango, yoghurt-mint, spicy pickles) and two chutneys for the starters (tamarind and coriander) completed an excellent first impression.
The entree offered more choices: lamb, vegetarian, chicken, and fish. We had the first three, and were very satisfied - the lamb was spicy and tender, the chicken wonderful, and the three choices of vegetarian (peas, cauliflower, and grain-balls) dishes offered a wide variety of tastes. The naan in particular was some of the best I ever had.
For dessert, there was pistachio or mango kulfi, both of which were excellent again, though we had troubles finishing it all.
The mint lassi, the mango lassi, and the chai were, unsurprisingly, very good and fresh as well.
When I am back in The Hague, I certainly will be back here. Given that this was what they offered for a promotion - read: a very high load on the kitchen -, I look forward to seeing what more they might be able to achieve when under optimal conditions.
In summary, the food was excellent; this already rates among the top five Indian restaurants I have been so far, world-wide; I easily believe their claim of the best Indian restaurant in the Netherlands. read more
