A business lunch spot that was a bit fancier than I expected, but service was friendly and fast and the food was good. I'd skip the salmon tartare which had almost no flavor, but the pasta was great!

Appetizers on the fixed price menu are attractive and tasty. The fixed price menu is very valuable. It comes with an appetizer, soup of the day or salad, a main entree, and additional $3 for any dessert on regular menu. I like the fixed price menu but I was not able to find a main course that I like on fixed price menu, so I didn't choose fixed price meal. My family did choose it. Salted caramel crunch (chocolate mousse on crunchy camelized pecan) was very delicious. Cream brulee was just average.

This is the best restaurant I tried in Quebec! Their food is amazing, we love every bite. We ordered scallop as appetizer, mix with coconut milk which tastes lovely. Their classic pasta is very cheesy which I love. And their beef tartare is probably the best beef tartare I've ever tried! What's better than their food is their perfect service!! Managers and waiters were all friendly! They explained dishes on menu very patiently, gave us sample to try, helped us to take photos and provided blanket for our baby! Totally love this restaurant! Highly recommend it for everyone!

Just delightful. Cute vibe of an interior overlooking the action on Ave Cartier. Some great choices. We had for lunch, fish and chips and steak tartar with fretes. Our server was a true delight to chat with throughout the meal. Can't wait to get back for dinner.

The food did not come out at the same time. The waiters were confused and brought out the wrong plates. The food was very good but not a good value.

Superb dinner. I had the gnocchi - best I've ever had.. nutty, light, buttery, so perfect. Another had the risotto duck, also very good. Desserts weren't anything special but dinner was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

Ambiance is good.

The food was awful. The gnocchi was deep fried and they consider themselves an "italian restaurant". A disgrace.

Great atmosphere (we opted for indoor seating since it was rather warm out), excellent service, and food that was easily some of the best we had during our weeklong stay in the city. Definitely try the rabbit. There are a few variations available. We had the Tourte Lapin and the Rable de Lapin along with a fondue to share. Also, some great local beers and a rose cidre to quench our thirst.

A Delicious Lunch in the Heart of Old Québec…read more We stopped into Lapin Sauté for lunch following a wonderful walking tour of Old Québec, and it proved to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal. Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Québec City.

We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

With that being…read moresaid, I was traveling solo for the evening and decided to treat myself to an elaborate feast at Le Clan, an one Michelin-starred restaurant. Since I was on my own, I preferred not to sit at a table, so I was happy that I was able to reserve a single seat at the bar. The quaint restaurant was located on a side street off of one of the main drags in the upper town of Old Quebec. I walked in and was surprised to be face-to-face with the kitchen, which was on full display just beyond the host stand. I was escorted upstairs to the main dining room, where the friendly host checked me in and walked me through the modern, yet rustic dining room to the swanky bar area. The bar had around six seats, and there were two high-top tables in the space as well. The lighting was dim and came from round lamps, which resembled disco balls, hanging from the ceiling. There was also a small television showing the Chef's journeys across Canada to find the most natural ingredients possible. Once seated, I was greeted by the bartender, Jonathan, who was a joy to chat with throughout my meal. He explained that I had two options - either a 4-course meal or a 6-course, each available with a wine pairing. I decided that I wanted the complete experience, so I went with the longer tasting, which was still very reasonable at Can$ 119. Though I did not partake in the wine pairing, I certainly wanted a drink. I wound up getting a glass of the 2024 Chateau de Roquefort Petit Salé de Villeneuve from Provence. The crisp white wine had the aroma of freshly sliced red delicious apples. It had a ripe acidity and was medium-bodied, despite its quick finish. I was absolutely in love with the dry blend of Clairette and Vermentino grapes, so I even got a second glass. While the menu was technically in English, many of the ingredients were still in French, but I left my fate to the hands of the skilled kitchen, which was very freeing! Before the tasting courses even began, they delivered a few sample teasers to drive excitement. First came a single lentil chip carefully positioned in an upright fashion, sticking out of a bowl of dried lentils. It was served with the perfect amount of the creamiest hummus I had ever had. Next came another tasty bite that I unfortunately do not recall, but do remember liking. It was served with thickly-sliced pieces of crusty bread that a local bakery made solely for them. After the two fantastic introductions, the true procession began. First came a sliced of smoked sturgeon so fresh and tender that it melted in my mouth. It was served over a ricotta and salt cod puree and was topped with onions. Next was the red deer tartare mixed with Savora (a yellow condiment like mustard) and celery root. It was hiding beneath a sheet of sourdough crisps that were decorated with roasted chanterelles. I have always been a fan of venison, and this dish was delicious; it managed to be both hearty and light at the same time. These first two courses were my favorites of the night. The following two plates were my least favorite, though they were still excellent. In fact, these were the two that would be omitted if one were to get the 4-course tasting, so perhaps others had felt similar. There was the Atlantic halibut in a bubbling foam of what was supposed to be cuttlefish ink, but was white in color. The small chunk of fish was topped with spelt and garlic scape. It was a nice dish, but not as flavorful or memorable when compared with the others. Then, there was the rabbit served with stewed beetroot and damson plums, all in a beer syrup. I found this dish better than the halibut, but rabbit is just not really a favorite of mine. It was a creative concept for sure, but not a flavor I adored. The meal then seemed to veer back on track, starting with a perfectly prepared hunk of Angus Beef, served with a tiered stack of potato and sausage, topped with a dollop of Japanese mustard. There was also a green, earthy puree on the plate, and a lightly creamy sauce was poured over the steak tableside. Next, the kitchen surprised me yet again with a popcorn pastry covered with white chocolate and topped with actual popcorn. It was buttery and sweet, and I really liked it. Then there was another small chocolate cake with a mousse topping that came as a side dish to the final dessert course. The fresh strawberries from local Île d'Orléans were topped with a rhubarb ice cream, a meringue sprinkled with sumac, and a strawberry and geranium sauce. The tasting might have been long in terms of courses, but everything was nicely paced. I made sure to get a copy of the menu to take home, which the host noticed on my way out and let me know that he appreciated it. When I arrived at the bottom of the stairs, the busy servers exiting the kitchen made sure to send me off with their best wishes. Le Clan was really a class act!

The food is off the hook, and changes so frequently that it's pointless for me to highlight specific dishes. We had an amazing charred broccolli, a seasonal morel dish, razor clams, and unique egg mayo concoction. Doesn't matter. the food will be exceptional whatever they are serving. Thier Michelin Bib Gourmand (exceptional food at reasonable prices) designation is well deserved. But if the soul of Buvette Scott is the food, the heart is Marine, who appeared to be the only server on duty while we were there. Stories were told, laughing was had. We were the last two left from the first dinner seating that day, and Marine and part of the kitchen team sat at the bar with us as we finished and shared insights about Quebec City and how they ended up there. Rarely have I felt so comfortable and at home in a place I have never been before. Really good restaurants serve up really good food... But truly great restaurants provide an experience that impacts you on many levels, and holds a place in your memory. Buvette Scott is a truly great restaurant.
