(Or maybe I kinda woke him to join me. Lol!) There is a full on huge buffet spread along with an a la carte menu, coffee, etc. (No alcohol included obvi, but you can purchase separately.) All was included which was awesome. Since I don't eat much in the morning, I only made one plate and the hubs and and I shared an a la carte dish. Got the a la carte item, we got the Truffle & Egg (€28). Came with 2 poached eggs on brioche bread with pastrami, arugula, truffle hollandaise and fresh truffle. It had a good amount of truffle aroma / flavor. I typically like my pastrami a lil fattier, so this was a touch too lean for me. It was also a little sweet. The arugula helped with that tho. My buffet plate was a mish mosh of smoked salmon, veggies, a piece of bread, etc. I also got a coffee. I believe the buffet itself costs €55 per person. I ordered 4 course menu and my BF ordered meatballs. It took more than 1 hour for the first food to arrive at our table. They did offer us a complimentary glass of wine when we enquired about the delay but we're not big drinkers. This food was actually my 2nd course (cod). When I enquired about my first course (burrata) that was then offered to me 60 seconds later after I had started on my cod. This is totally different experience than my previous experience in other cities in Germany when I was impressed with German's punctuality but not this time. At least, Cod was delicious. My beef came out rare when I ordered medium well and I had to sent it back. Overall the food was fine, the ambience lively and the staff were nice. Without prompting one of the managers on clearing one of our courses did apologize and state that our entire meal would be comped however the delays and confusion were very unexpected at a Ritz Carlton and disappointing.

There is an egg bar where you can get freshly-made omelets, scrambled eggs, or other egg options. (I don't eat eggs, but my colleagues had nothing but good to say about their eggs.) You can find American breakfast foods, such as excellent bacon and sausage. There are good choices of breads and cereals, including croissants that you must have more than one of because they are so good. How much butter goes into them? I did not ask. Good selection of juices, coffee, and tea, of course. The buffet is not cheap: we paid 43 Euros each day we ate there. You can make hotel reservations that include breakfast, and the cost adder is less than 43 Euros. You just need to eat every day to justify the expense. I don't think it will be hard to eat daily.

Big pork knuckle, sauerkraut, potatoes... I felt surprisingly at home. I started with the beef tartare with egg yolk. I'd give this one around 3.5/5. It was good, but the portion was huge, and I couldn't finish it. Then I had the potato soup. Very hearty, but a little too salty for me. The best dish was definitely the classic boiled pork knuckle (Eisbein). This was the highlight. Very traditional, very rich, and the sauerkraut was excellent -- sour enough to cut through all that fatty pork. That combination really works. What makes this restaurant interesting is the whole concept. It focuses on old Berlin food from around 1900, so the dishes feel like real working-class food from that time: big portions, heavy flavors, simple ingredients, very filling and very direct. Basically: no tiny fancy plates here. The food arrives like it has a job to do. If you prefer light and delicate food, you may find some dishes a bit salty and heavy. But if you want to experience traditional old-school Berlin food, this is definitely an interesting place to try. Overall, I'd give it around 3.8/5. The Eisbein alone was worth trying.

Plus, we were able to get a table right away upon entering on a Saturday evening. We both ordered a beer and started the meal with some traditional Goulash. YUM! Even my husband loved the soup. I chose the sausage platter for my meal and my husband ordered the Weiner Schnitzel. Everything was so good. Lots of food- I couldn't finish. The German potato salad was surprisingly really good! We are big fans now. Our server was awesome and was so attentive to our table despite how busy the restaurant was. This is a great spot!
