While grocery shopping at nearby Coop, we came across this little restaurant tucked away in a unique building in a small neighborhood shopping center in Meggan.
The owner, Mark, immediately greeted us and sat us near the window. I noticed the Rock n Roll decor with postors of 70's bands and tables with well known album covers printed on the top. We had Purple Rain on our 2 topper.
What caught my eye was a big 1/4 scale radio controlled airplane hanging from the ceiling. Mark told us it was his hobby.
Food is a mixture of German and some other random dishes, even Asian. The menu was a good variety including a daily lunch special, which we missed.
We had pork schnitzel and a Thai stir fry with veal and an oyster sauce base. Veal is everywhere in Switzerland, BTW. The pork schnitzel was pounded, breaded and fried, served with fries. The stir fry was also with veggies and white rice. Both were delicious and well prepared.
Although the menu was only in German, Mark was super helpful in translating it for us. The first thing I noticed was how hard he was working and when we found out it was his place, it made sense. Mark's hospitality completes the experience. His very friendly personality made this random find a very memorable experience, from the start.
Mark invited us back for New Orleans Jazz night with Sammy Rimington. Apparently, he hosts live music and performances every now and then. I did see some fancy lights and a disco ball as well as a piano.
Great find and it's on the road to Luzern (Lucerne) too. read more
