When it comes to wanting a quaint and cozy European café/restaurant feel, this restaurant is certainly a great stop! Walking in it feels like you are walking into a café that the Snow White, and seven dwarves have sat and had a meal at! I was here with a group of 35 people And I always question if the service and food is going to be good since it's a set menu. They started us off with a butternut squash soup that was delicious especially served with the bread. It would've been nice if they would've had butter to go on the bread. Our second course was a chicken dish with rice and vegetables. The chicken was in a white mushroom sauce, and I just mixed the whole thing together. it looked so disappointing when it came to the table but it actually tasted amazing! I kind of wanted seconds. For dessert we had a chocolate mousse with whip cream, and the mousse was smooth and delicious and chocolatey but not overly sweet. Definitely something I would recommend if it's on their menu. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and would love to come back sometime.

When in Rome, errr, Luzern Switzerland, eat what the city is famous for, Stunggis, AKA lamb and vegetable stew. Reservations for lunch made a month in advance guaranteed an incredible table at this cozy, unpretentious restaurant recommended by the Michelin guide. Classic Swiss food of the region done right. Seasonal, of course, this is Switzerland. Autumn brings with it wild boar and venison but sticking to the classic, the Stunggis. Wow, just wow. Extremely well braised lamb, not stringy, not fatty, no connective tissue to worry about. The lamb is soft, very gamy, with excellent mineral notes. You can taste the grassy fields that these animals grazed on. The stew, very simple water, root vegetables (carrots, parsnips and silky low starch potatoes), and red wine and mounted with some excellent, rich butter. Warm and comforting. Not to be out shown, Switzerland's favorite sausage, the St. Gallen Bratwurst. No exaggeration, this sausage is a full 16". Naturally cased with a good snap. Extremely rich, oozing fatty juiciness with each bite, almost fluffy consistency, the mild taste of free ranged veal with a hint of the mysterious mountain herb seasoning. It pairs perfectly with a sweet caramelized onion sauce. Served with rosti, think hash browns crisped in rich Swiss butter that makes for a true stick to the ribs belly buster. Simple wine list with emphasis on Swiss producers. Luzern is well represented. As with all Swiss wines, alone, not very impressive but paired with the food of the region, beautiful. Tip: Be eco friendly and drink tap water. In is Switzerland, the water is pristine and free from chemicals. Extremely friendly local service. German, and English spoken. Prices in line. Lunch for two with a bottle of wine, 160CHF (162USD). Card accepted. Highly recommended for a real taste of classic Luzern. * Prices - Dining out in Switzerland is EXPENSIVE. Expect to pay 35CHF-50CHF for a single dish. ** Dining etiquette - Sharing a plated dish is NOT acceptable. Pour your own water and wine. Bread is placed directly on the table, pieces to be eaten, torn then buttered. Speak quietly. Absolutely NO mobiles at the table (includes talking, texting, or using the device for anything other than pics). ***Tipping - NO. Unless service was exceptional. 10 percent to show your appreciation in CASH will bring a smile to your servers face.

Great service, relaxed atmosphere, Old Towne, right by a waterfall. Perfect! Nice Hefeweizen.

Daily special, chicken with rice noodles and asparagus

We had a nice dinner on the water for an evening booking (we made a reservation but probably didn't need it even for a Friday night). The charcuterie and cheese starter was nice and we especially liked the Swiss sausage. For our meals we had the meatloaf and a daily (seasonal?) special which was chicken with rice noodles and asparagus, which was the better of the two dishes. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse which wasn't really worth the 15 Franc pricetag, but we found the meal reasonable otherwise.

We visited Wirtshaus Taube for dinner during a 2-day trip to Lucerne and it was fantastic. The restaurant is centrally located in Lucerne city. We did not have a reservation but our party of 4 people was promptly seated on a weeknight. The restaurant setting is historic and quaint. We ordered the Wildbratwurst mit Wildjus (venison sausage), Herschschnetzu anere Wacholderbeerisauce (venison schnitzel) and Stunggis Eintopf met Lamm vo de Göschener Alp ond Gmües (lamb stew) as main courses, and all were absolutely delightful. The traditional accompaniments of spaetzel, chestnuts, cabbage, and brussels sprouts did not disappoint. The vegetables were slightly overcooked but this seems to be the swiss way. For dessert we had the Willisouerringli-Parfait met lauwarme Waldbeeri (parfait of pastries with a warm berry compote) and it was really unique and tasty! Swiss food prices are high, but the value for money at this spot was a fair balance. We would recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone visiting and looking for a taste of Lucerne.

    Schnitzel and fries with ketchup

I know it's schnitzel, but come on! Make an effort to make this dish appealing to the eyes. I didn't say yum when I looked at it and sadly, not when I tasted it either...boring. The view of the river was the only thing I enjoyed.

Looking for a bite of Switzerland before heading out? Stop by this place, they have a great selection of beer and wine. Also a great menu for everyone, including vegan options. Today I ordered their house beer , light and bitter was what u got from it. Service here is good as well. Ambiance was quite calm and quiet ... great way to really end the day in Switzerland. Food and service was amazing here! Definitely recommend coming here for a great experience and Swiss and German food Thank you

Roesti (Egg, tomatoe, bacon, cheese, potato, chives)

Great service and food! I got the stunggis (lamb stew) which was delicious, and my girlfriend got the roesti which was also very tasty. The beer on draft was great. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic luzern food.

Sitting along the river is so lovely! We thoroughly enjoyed the rösti and the lamb stew. Wish they had a wider selection of beers.

Nice restaurant and a little pricey. The wine was paired nicely with the menu. The menu is fixed so…read moreno choice of your meal... but I knew that going in

This was our last day in Switzerland, and we called them believing we might get lucky with a table…read morelast minute and we did, that was a wonderful surprise. The restaurant appears small from the outside, when inside its a nice size with an outdoor patio overlooking the river, a little too cold to use that day. Completely packed when we arrived around 8:15pm and we could see there was absolutely no space for even one more person. Away from the tourist crowd, very traditional, family at dinner style environment and very loud. We loved it. Menu was a fixed 4 course dinner that changes every day I assume, so everyone was basically having the exact same meal. We knew this before we came and had made sure we would be ok with the fixed menu items when we had called for reservations, I would highly recommend doing this if there are any picky food eaters in the group. The owner was there doing a lot of the work himself and that was great to see. Each of the courses were very well done, tuna on toast, salad, pasta (veal?) bolognese, seared tuna, desert. Salad was super fresh, pasta was perfectly el dente and sauce was tasty, tuna was perfectly seared. Did you notice anything missing here? The creativity element was not there, each of the dishes was too simple, and I was expecting a lot more on that front given the awesome ratings. One star taken off for that. Given the menu probably changes everyday, I am hopeful this is not the case on a daily basis. I would recommend this restaurant to those who are ok with the fixed menu style and who want to be surprised on the day, if not call ahead and confirm whats for dinner and the price before coming.
