Filled with US and Chinese tourist, it claims to be Italian, uhhh OK. Let's just say, I've never had a margherita pizza quite like this. Half cooked crust (raw dough on one side) and seasoned with OREGANO instead of basil. Tip: Order from the "Wildkarte" menu of classic Swiss dishes. Done well. The selection of classic Swiss dishes impresses. The rehschnitzel AKA venison escalope with cream sauce, cowberry, red cabbage dressed with chestnuts and apples and butterspaetzli, solid. Tender pieces of perfectly cooked venison tenderloin enrobed in a rich cream sauce (venison demi and rich heavy cream). The pronounced gamey notes are well matched by the tart red cabbage. Chestnuts add the Autumn flavors and a baked apple filled with tangy cowberry compote to round out the dish. The only weak spot, the butter fried spaetzili. Gummy and rubbery. Totally unnecessary with a nutty, burnt butter flavor that didn't belong. Friendly, touristy service. English spoken with English and Chinese menus. Very limited wine list but still featuring a few wines of Luzern. It just goes to show, you can't suppress a chef's desire to make the food of his home well. Solid Swiss food at an Italian restaurant.

We didn't have a reservation but were quickly and warmly shown to our covered decktop outdoor table. The evening view of Lucerne and Mt. Pilatas was breathtaking. The ambience was warm. I wished the old steamer could tell us its tales. The service was exceptional (yes, they gave us, without our having to ask, menus in English when we were seated) and the food (I'm not a foody by any means) was outstanding. I had the stuffed chicken breast (stuffed with pistachios and apricots, I think). It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The accompanying vegetable based sides were out of this world. I would definitlely recommend William Tell. If I'm ever lucky enough to visit Lucerne again, I would DEFINITELY eat here again. However, I'd make a reservation first. I think we got lucky getting a table the first time.

We started with a glass of prosecco and bread with olive oil, salt and pepper and two other dipping sauces. We didn't ask for anything and our every need was anticipated. Our starter came timely and was delicious. Our pasta was split into 2 portions and I couldn't eat all of my portion and gave the rest to my husband. The truffle sauce was perfect and not overbearing. Service was outstanding. Our water refilled frequently. The manager / maitre de greeted us as we left amd asked us how our food was and thanked us for coming in.
