Had heard very good things about this spot for traditional Greek food, and given our affinity for…read morethis style of cuisine it was hard to pass it up! Went for an early-ish dinner, so not many folks in there yet, but we were quickly seated where we ordered some Greek wine and made a plan for our shared meal. We love ordering "family style" at Greek restaurants (especially appetizers), but given it was only two of us we scaled our usual selections back a bit. We stuck with a menu of tzatziki, saganaki, spanakopita and gyrospfanne. They started our meal with a complimentary pair of Ouzo shots, then we dug right in to the tzatziki served with thick-cut hearty bread slices. Shortly thereafter the saganaki (fried cheese) came out, also served with the same tzatziki on the side which paired well together given the richness of the cheese now "cut" by the bright fresh cucumber-y sauce. The spanakopita was served in a plate full of small, triangular baked pies which also was great with the tzatziki. Lastly, the gyrospfanne dish was not a traditional gyro style platter...instead it came as diced-cut gyro meat served in a cognac cream sauce with sliced peppers and onions. Alongside the meat was a portion of vegetable rice and a side salad. A very hearty meal and we were stuffed by the end. We really enjoyed the atmosphere...would have sat outside if it was a bit cooler out but an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

It's always a good sign when there are a number of Greeks dining here! Our server brought us two complimentary shots of ouzo. Yamas! I decided to start with the chicken soup (aka avgolemono) as it was a cold winter evening. It was nice and brothy unlike the creamy thick versions found in the states. I would say the soup was a bit more authentic. We opted for a taramasalata and a horiatiki as a second course. Both were good and hit the spot. For dinner, I had the moussaka. It was good but was drier than I expected. I was hoping for a bit of a saucier middle section. All in all a nice find in Vienna of all places!

The lamb was flavorful, and then bread had clearly just come out of the oven. That baklava will haunt my dreams forever!! We turned our neighbors on to it as well and now they are holding their son's baptism reception there. Food is very fresh, the meats and the fish are perfectly cooked and the service is friendly and prompt. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Especially if you're a fan of Greek food. We love and highly recommend the leg of lamb, the lamb skewers, the Thalassa Teller fish plate and all the appetizers. You can't go wrong here. Enjoy! UPDATE: We had an amazing wedding reception here. We were so busy with preperations for our small wedding that we had no time to decorate the tables at the restaurant. Dimitris and his crew took what little decorations we had and did an outstanding job of making our tables look first class. We were so touched and thrilled with all the extra effort he did for us, and he did with a humble smile. We love this place.

The probably most filled greek restaurant in the humble town of Vienna…read more Curious, what this hubbub was all about, I invited my family to this restaurant, where the statues and the interior made me wonder for a glimpse of a moment, how i would feel as a waiter.. trying to dodge all those statues in the walking lane though they carry a lot to the ambiente. A friend of mine, brought me to this glorious idea to always order a lemon sparkly water in every restaurant... to see how they measure quality even in the smallest detail(also it is delicious as hell if done right). It seems like nitpicking, but if the lemon used in the sparkly water is out of a bought bottle and not squeezed out of a lemon... one starts to automatically question other things as well. To my disappointment, the lemon sparkly water was out of a bottle and a lonely lemon slice was swimming in this chemically tasting fluid. Against my better knowledge, I ordered the fishplate called the "portals to hades" for the good price of 17,50.. not that I was expecting the restaurant to be bad in preparing the meals... but that Austria in general does not offer too many high quality fish suppliers. The food was ok... the prawn and calamari had the classic imported quality, with a hint of mealyness and the fish with the side dishes were good... though i expected a filet to be without fishbones. Maybe this is how greek food should taste like... maybe i was biased by that chemical lemon sparkly water... but I was not overwhelmed by that experience. The greek coffee I ordered afterward was quite tasty. And the service was friendly but seemed to be a bit out of concept and chaotic. Looks like I need to take a trip to Greece to get to know their cuisine... until then...

I especially love the warm chocolate cake with a gooey core, which I order everytime I eat there, so please leave some room for the dessert:) Ich besuche dieses Restaurant regelmäßig. Besonders zu empfehlen ist der warme Schokoladekuchen mit flüssigem Kern- also immer Platz für Nachspeise lassen:)
