Robin is a genius with computers--he keeps my MacBook alive & working smoothly (it's 100 years old in computer years) and they're always ready to help--on the phone, on email, in person. They looked at what my computer was doing and told me they would have to do a diagnosis for $85.00 and it would take a few days. I decided to walk to another computer store and the clerk pressed the right buttons to reboot my computer and it began working normally. When my mac keyboard acted up I called restart because they had helped in the past. They lied to me to get me into the store telling me the repair was covered. When I got there they said it was not covered and I would have to pay 75.00 for a diagnostic. Since I was there I agreed to leave it. When I returned home I became a bit upset about it and went back to pick up the computer the next day after confirming with them that the diagnostic had not been started. I took my laptop in as it was not turning on. I initially paid $90. They then told me it would be very expensive to fix so I asked for them to transfer the information onto an external hard drive. They said this process took an hour which is a complete lie. As the technician called me back within 45 min to tell me my computer was ready for pickup. This store is 100% untrustworthy. This whole thing cost $270 which is CRAZY! Best Buy is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. I will NEVER go back to this store as you are wasting your money & they lie about how long the diagnosis and work takes. My mother bought a refurbished computer in February and the first day she brought it home it wouldn't turn on, so she emailed them. She brought it back the next day and they said "sometimes it takes a while to start up". 1 month later its not starting at all. Her product was under warranty but they will not take it back even though it was a faulty product from the beginning. They are only offering to repair the machine even though they sold it broken. The owner came by and told us there was nothing they could do. Told us the diagnostic report is unavailable, they do one and then it "disappears". I would never buy a product from this company. I took my 10-year-old iMac in because the sound wasn't working. After having it in the shop for only a day, he called to say he could do a complete repair that would cost about $600 but that he could do a workaround that would cost less than $150. I bought a Transcend to backup my Mac Pro at ReStart . When I got home to start my back up I didn't see how to proceed and when I bought the item I asked ' When I plug it in, will it give me directions ? ' The answer was affirmative. Nothing happened other than an icon showed up. When I called to ask next steps after waiting on hold for 10 minutes ( on a Tuesday ) , I got an extremely rude rep who would not allow me to speak. He just keep talking over me. No Respect ! His attitude was dreadful - he refused to assist saying " I could lose my license " - for assisting a client with an item sold by you ? Unusual.( tell me another one ) He expected me to go back downtown and have HIM do the backup ! During COVID ? ! again - No Respect. I own a 2011 MacBook Pro and it has been AMAZING ever since my grandfather gave it to my mom who gave it to me. This bad boy runs better than most laptops on the market today. I was devastated when I went to turn it on and the screen was black. Long story short, I go to Restart Computers Inc to see if I can get it fixed. Right off the bat the guy behind the counter was rude, telling me to show him the problem with a bit of an attitude. I'm sassy myself, but not with customers I don't know or haven't built that relationship with them. Nonetheless, he took my laptop to the back and within 10 seconds came back and told me it was obsolete and couldn't be worked on. He told me I could take the drive out and that was it. So I called Boomer Computers and they said they would most certainly take a look and try to fix it! Stay tuned for that review! Nice shop. Quite clean. So I do give them style points. read more

Thank you! Absolute life savers after disappointing service at the other Apple approved outlets in Victoria. After two days of being unable to use iMac with no remote Apple support options available, issue was diagnosed within 5 minutes of walking in the shop and collected fully fixed iMac an hour later. I had stopped elsewhere close by first where nobody could look at it for three days. At ReStart, they are highly knowledgeable, fast and very courteous. When I take it back they did a terrible job of putting it back together, the Touch Bar was shaking and loosening, I can't see what's inside. Had purchased a pair of Bluetooth headphones from restart , and within a day or two of having them they started acting up, one ear was losing connection. So I called them up, and brought in my head phones with receipt, and was told they were going to diagnose the problem. I had opted to try and pick a new set but was declined. So they said they would call me back with any sort of results if they produced any. A week goes by, and they finally called me and said there was nothing wrong with them. And that I can come pick up. So a day goes by, and I head to the store to pick them up, only to find out they didn't have them? & I had no receipt because I had it in the box of the headphones that I had given to them, which has mysteriously went missing.. was told they didn't have them. I took my iPad in to ReStart because it was having issues charging. They cleaned the port and said there were still issues so they would have to do a diagnostics test for a fee. They also said I'd have to leave my iPad with them and they wouldn't be able to tell me when I could pick it up. They said diagnostics are first come, first serve and they'd likely get to it in a day or two. Then depending on diagnostics, I'd have to leave it with them for additional time to fix. I chose to get a second opinion and took it over to Blackapple Cellular. They immediately noticed something was stuck in the port and cleaned it out with various tools. That fixed the problem right away and cost me nothing. Won't be using Restart ever again. read more

I want to start off by saying I made an account on here specifically to warn people of this garbage establishment. The back plate on my iPhone broke. I took it here because there isn't a real apple store in Vic. They shoddily installed the new plate. The lens glass cover was loose and the plate itself was not firmly attached. Upon asking about the wait time the dick that was working told me that he could make it take all day if he wanted (I urge you to believe me when I say I'm not by any stretch, a rude customer). This repair job cost me $100; the $60 mark-up from the Apple store's price was justified as a diagnosis fee. After this whole debacle, I visited the Vancouver Apple store, explained my situation and they replaced the plate without fee. Please avoid this store at all costs. They are clearly aware that there is no Apple store in Vic and they plan to take advantage of you. Put this bullshit out of business. read more

A simple attempt to purchase a generic pro cover for my iPad 7 generation turned into an ordeal that lasted more than a week. I emailed back and forth a couple of times before I went in to the shop to purchase a new laptop for myself and have all of my data from my existing laptop moved over to the new one. They listened to what my needs are are recommended a mac that would work for me. They were so easy to work with and they managed to move everything over to the new computer. It was all done in a period of time that I did not get too behind on my work from being without my lap top. Upon pick up they took the time to go over everything with me before I left the store and let me know that I could call with questions at any time. Despite their having elected to host FedeX deliveries, the owner and his staff are absolutely loathe to attend to anyone who arrive for a pick up. A simple phone call today to enquirer as to what would happen in the event that a UPS delivery was given their address, the owner went off on a bizarre and accusatory rant about ME wasting HIS time with such an inquiry . Furthermore, he went on to 'remind' me that Restart is primarily a computer business and that FedeX is a nuisance. FedeX should drop these guys. Restart Computers accepts their FedeX commission $ but are absolutely toxic in their service. Do not support this local business. read more

I bought a pair of Apple ear-phones in June and when they stopped working in August, the sales reps refused to take them back. I was told to email the owner, Sia. Sia did not respond, so I went back to the store. that time I was told that I could purchase a new pair for a discount! Have only dealt with restart computers over the phone but the fellow on the other end was extremely rude and basically said he didn't have time to deal with me over the phone and he wasn't willing to help only a "potential customer". Only willing to help if I came down to the store. Horrible customer service and will not waste my time coming down to deal with ungrateful businesses. read more

I can't be more upset and angrier. Indeed, The young shopping guide was really nice and helpful when I was to buy a macbook protective cover and he showed me some and promised me to get a discount( cuz I am a student ). However, when it was time to pay, an older shopping guide with white beard took his place and said no discount at all! I argued and he just compromised with bad attitude as if I was doing something wrong. And when I was about to insert my credit card, he said the price tag was wrong! He couldn't sell it to me with such a low price and he added 10 more dollars. I then waited for them to find a new one, but! He just left me there and did his own things! No explanation, no apology, no goodbye! What else can I say ?! I got embarrassed and left the store! It's not a problem about money, it's a problem of honesty and service attitude. I sincerely encourage you to NOT buy anything there. They want your money but they don't want to give you service. Pushy in trying to up-sell you covers and stuff but not responding adequately to customers requests and needs. I wonder whether their policy of no returns in any Apple product is even legal. The worst part though is that when trying to return/exchange a brand new iPad (3 days old) for a MacBook Air (way more expensive), instead of telling me flat out that they refused to do it, they started a back and forth email conversation asking for details and invoice numbers, in a way letting me believe that they were indeed going to do it. Once I emailed a scan of the sales invoice they just cut the conversation without further explanation. Simply stopped answering my emails. Their spammy newsletter kept coming though. That was in late July '12 and they got what they wanted (to get rid of me). But they also lost a very loyal customer and at least a $2.5K+ sale of an iMac and more stuff of our Apple-only household. We finally ended up modifying our workflow and giving the iPad 3 an intense use and are very happy with it. Never again though. They got almost 900 bucks and that is all they'll ever see from us. I'm very unhappy with the way this store deals with customers. I called in twice looking for pricing quotes and warranties on items that are both well known for price and on warranty from Apple. I was not given any prices and told my computer is not under a recalled warranty from apple when it is. It's seems that there policy is to tell customers to bring in their computer so they can tell you what it will cost. So they can use the statistics that customers are more likely to say yes to absurd prices because they are already there. I will never again shop or bring my apple products to this store! I was much better served by the other apple authorized places in town over the phone and in store. read more

I was surprised by the negative reviews because I had a really positive experience at ReStart. I tried to install Yosemite on my MacBook and somehow botched the installation so that my Mac could only run with an external drive plugged in and I brought it in for help. Matt asked a few questions, tried a few things and within 10 minutes Yosemite was being installed properly. I took my MacBook home to finish the installation and now it runs perfectly, but I knew I could come back in the morning if I ran into any snags (fortunately, I didn't!). Since we don't have any Apple stores nearby, it's nice to know I can purchase Apple accessories right down the street. read more

I was really impressed with the service received here. While they weren't the speediest (it took nearly two weeks to get my laptop diagnosed and repaired), they kept me in the loop the whole time. I dropped my laptop off on a Saturday, with the understanding that they wouldn't get to it until the following Tuesday. They contacted me to ask questions about how to replicate the problem when they begun working on it, they alerted me when they were able to identify the problem, and they confirmed with me before beginning repairs to ensure I was comfortable with the charge, and of course they called me when it was ready to be picked up. Hopefully nothing else goes wrong with my laptop, but if it does then I will definitely go back. read more

What was very clear and straightforward on the phone suddenly became much more difficult. First let me suggest that you read all the reviews concerning Restart. Sold a product under false infomation that a necessary cable was included. At first they acknowledged their mistake and gave me the cable free of charge. However, the cable was defective and would not work. Returned it to the store expecting that they would exhange the defective cable but this is when I ran into Sia Sanati, the owner. It was all down hill from here. After ranting on about how his employee should have never given me the cable, he refused to replace the cable. Rude, aggressive, unprofessional and very unpleasant does not fully describe my feelings about my interaction. DO NO SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THIS STORE! Many stores sell Apple products and understand that it is all about service and keeping their customers happy. Spend your money where you are really appreciated as a customer. We have been going to restart for all of our computer needs and find the service there to be outstanding! They are very informed about the lastest technology with both Mac and PC products....I go there because of the service and have never been disappointed. Bigger stores don't and can't offer the one on one that I get from Restart!!
