I am not traditionally handicapped, but due to an old leg injury, I sometimes have trouble standing from a seated position after long drives. The bars in the handicap stall have been helpful a time or two. Ok, here is the problem. The toilet paper holder is on the far side of the stall. Some thoughtful human put a loose roll next to the toilet but it was almost empty. Unless you have go go gadget arms, its impossible to reach the toilet paper holder. I will say this, the sign outside said no handicap access in that building, but there was another building that looked to have handicap access avail.

Adjacent to that table was a handicap ramp for you to reach the restroom area. Due to settling (I assume) there was a significant inference in height of the end of the ramp and the sidewalk it was connected to. Resulting in my Mother-in-law tripping on the unexpected lip of the sidewalk causing her to fall and nearly hit her head on the nearby concrete bench of the picnic table. While the ramp is much newer than the rest of the sidewalk and concrete picnic tables, it is old enough that there is no excuse that this DANGEROUS HAZARD is not marked to prevent similar and potentially more serious accidents! It was also disappointing that the vending machines were mostly empty of drinks other than sodas and water. On our next trip I might consider bypassing this location and stopping at the next one instead.

I've never felt the need to write a review about a free rest area, but this is actually irresponsible and cruel for pets.

We also got a room for our daughter and her fiancé. All together we paid about $1,000 for the six room nights. That's a lot for the quality of this Hampton Inn. We've stayed at dozens of Hampton Inns, and this one is below average. All the staff were very friendly, although some seemed incompetent. Our king accessible room was large, but the furnishings were way past their prime, and all the rooms apparently need to be refurbished. We also had a problem with ants coming up through the carpet squares. We reported this and asked for some ant spray, but we didn't get it. The breakfast wasn't up to par, with some of the dishes cold and nothing except the waffles were very appetizing. All in all I'd say you would be better off with one of the other Hampton Inns in Macon and environs.

At check-in, the front desk employee took my driver's license and never gave it back. I didn't realize at the time, and because I had no reason to take it out during the rest of my trip, I continued traveling without it, not knowing I didn't have it. I drove from Macon, Georgia, all the way to St. Augustine, Florida, then back to Douglasville, Georgia, and then all the way to Huntsville, Alabama, all without my physical driver's license. I only discovered it was missing when another hotel asked me for ID. I panicked. I'm an American citizen, but I have a strong accent, and with everything happening today, the idea of being pulled over or questioned without physical identification was terrifying. A hotel taking a guest's government-issued ID and failing to return it is a very serious matter. What made it worse was the hotel's response. I got conflicting stories about whether they could find it, whether it had been shipped, and when. At one point, I was told I had to pay about thirty seven dollars for FedEx, to fix their mistake, which is unbelievable. I was also promised a callback that never came. I had to keep following up myself. When I called again today, I was told it had only just been mailed, not when I was led to believe. And no one could clearly explain how it was shipped. So, I still don't know when I'll actually get it back. Meanwhile, I need my ID for a job-related fingerprinting appointment next Monday. This situation has caused unnecessary stress, risk, and inconvenience. I would give zero stars if that were possible. Management seriously needs to review procedures for handling guests' identification and take responsibility when they make a serious mistake. The guest should not have to chase answers or pay to fix the hotel's error. Feel free to read it through and tell me any phrasing you want dialed up or down. 'When it comes to handling a guest's ID and taking responsibility, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. Zero stars if possible. Management needs to fix this now.'

It goes downhill when we walked into the room. The smell hit you in the face - almost smelled like it had been smoked in previously. Even the towel smelled when I dried my face on it. It just felt smelly and dirty . The room felt really crowded for a towneplace. Very disappointed. Will not stay at a towneplace again. Didn't even feel like I was in a Marriott.
