Rest Area 87, East Dublin GA
    Bruce K.

A quick stop at this rest area that is between Macon and Savannah on I-16. There is this one for eastbound traffic and another one about a mile or so down the road for westbound traffic. It could be better lit at night in the parking lot. However, the building itself is well lit and the rest room was clean. There are separate areas for cars and trucks. Picnic tables, a pet walking area and vending machines for snacks. [Review 14722 overall, 222 of 2021, number 386 in Georgia.]

Clean bathrooms great pet area. Lots of parking and nice picnic tables. Great place to take a break with kids or dogs! Safe travels!

Once the GE got involved she completely changed her story and flat out lied. She stated I did not cancel. I have the record of my phone call and luckily recorded Eva apologizing to me and stating she would fix her mistake. I am disputing this with my bank and then Will see them in court. The peloton in the gym doesn't connect to anything. Okay annoying but maybe there's a connection issue. Then the water fountain in the gym doesn't work.... Okay again not a big deal the front desk gave me a water bottle. This is where things get UNSAFE though. The iron cord doesn't fit in the outlets in the room, causing sparks and a very lose connection. And the deadbolt in my room didn't actually work. Based on other reviews on here I'm afraid to lodge a formal complaint, since I travel to the area for work and there are only a limited number of hotels. I don't plan to stay here again but if the others are fully booked I'll need a back up option.

Scenic state park featuring an 18 hole golf course (I refrain from golf for embarrassment reasons) Friendly small-town staff. Small airport directly across the highway. VERY effective room air-conditioning. Single story buildings. Small "Restaurant" inside the lodge (did not dine there). Color Television with Cable. Iron & Ironing Board. Coffeemaker. Hair dryer. Space-age built-in soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers. Glamorous News: This same lodge was recently used by the crew of one of those family-fixing "Nanny" reality shows while they were filming an episode in the McRae area. The lingering cloud of "Hollywood Glamour" at the lodge is palpable, though you should be careful not to confuse it with the teeming hordes of angry gnats (see below). Non-Glamorous News: Location may be perceived as "isolated" by resort-conscious (there is no "ocean view"). Woods be full of Captain Drew's lubber kinfolk and ticks (in equal measure). Teeming hordes of angry gnats. Angry, angry gnats that should not be confused with Hollywood Glamour (see above). Bad News: Firm mattresses. Relentlessly firm mattresses. Unforgivingly firm mattresses. The Deal: If you've a bad back, drive south Jim m'lad and don't stop 'till you've arrived at the wooden sign for the Little Ocmulgee State Park (and Lodge). Located about 35 minutes south of Dublin in the heart of Gnats-Up-Your-Nose County, this state park be the same locale where Captain Drew goes for his annual family reunion of inlaws and outlaws.... partly because we be such a wild bunch that we can't be contained by anything smaller, but mostly because it only costs us a couple hundred groats to rent an air-conditioned pavilion with its own surface parking lot. Perhaps one day I'll take one of you sweet-bottomed lasses down there on me arm to show off to me cousin/wives.... In all these years of herding my parents down to the reunion we've never stayed overnight in this state park's lodge UNTIL last week, when we found ourselves compelled southward by familial love and memorial duty. En route we agreed to give this state-run lodge a tryout since our former favorite, the Magnolia Inn, is now operated by a friendly family with a penchant for curries so indescribably pungent that the scent has permanently permeated the molecular essence of every structural component of their flophouse. While I enjoy a good curry as well as the next fellow, I also enjoy the delicious aroma of 78% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, trace amounts of other gases, and a variable amount (average around 1%) of water vapor. We were certain to find fresh air at the Little Ocmulgee State Park Lodge, and we did!! Signing In A breeze.... super fast. Our Stay Our lodgings were VERYsatisfactory. With the exception of a missing ice bucket (we had the lid), the room was as fully stocked as any other contemporary hotel room you'd find anywhere else in the nation. Why spend more somewhere else? Checking Out My only recommendation is to make every effort to prevent men in golfing togs and pronounced drawls getting in line ahead of you (especially if they're in the sawmill business) because they will delay your departure by 20 minutes as they kibitz with the friendly staff, loudly declaring how much money they make, detailing how much their monthly income surpasses the annual income of their fellow townfolk and generally strutting about acting "all rich and stuff". One solution to this dilemma is of course to nip out onto the nearby "wetlands" boardwalk (ie, swampy-path-to-nowhere), secure some sort of non-venomous-but-nontheless-agitated indigenous wildlife and insert it into the open golfbags in the back of the rich guys' pick-up trucks. Alternately, you can simply stand in line behind them with a fake smile plastered across your face, pondering at how marvelously ridiculous your little planet can be~

It was a pretty nice place, but had a weird smell. At first I thought it was tolerable. Once I returned home, my luggage and clothing reeked so terribly that I had to wash them in Tide hygienic ultra pods twice. So as a Marriott girl, I came here. Not sure all the hate. When I checked in, they automatically addressed my ambassador status (which I don't care about, but just putting it out there). I got upgraded from a regular king room to a king suite, which has a lot more room and is really nice for a longer stay like mine (seven days). I got a free water as an ambassador. The room is clean, the bed is firm, but decent. The room doesn't smell terrible. Could use a little more storage space (only two full sized drawers). Located near several chain restaurants and about four miles from Main Street for some smaller local places. I think this is probably gonna be worth the drive.

When I say I loved loved the room...I LOVED THE ROOM! I like a room you can walk into & you are not at the bed as soon as you walk in. And this is what I got here...room, room & more room. A clean fridge, microwave, bathroom was refreshing. Wasn't via found of the TV mode it took a minute for me to figure out. It took too many buttons pushes to select a station. Besides that & a dark large stain on the carpet, all else was fabulous! 3. I felt safe & got a great nights sleep! However now...I know what to ask for when I make my next reservation...downside was the next morning...I learned after being wakened out my sleep pretty early in the morning that...my room was across from the staff's laundry room or room that the cleaning staff went in to load up the carts. I'm not a morning person & was waken by constant banging every few minutes. Also, the pool was unfortunately not available for use. I mean come on Hilton it's summertime, we need pool access!!! If you knew that day I had & the transition s my hair went through so, trust me when I say...I deserved to swim a few laps! I paid and expected that I could take a swim & lounge into cone off my day trip into town. I finally got up to open the door & looked around...then a young lady came out to load up the towel cart and I gathered now where the banging noise was coming from...she was going in & out of the room across from my room and the door was closing on the door stopper she had put in the floor of the door to kept the door cracked. She looked, we caught eye & I mentioned to her I was wondering where the banging was coming from. Her response was, "Oh, my bad." I closed the door and that was that., Ohhh & I liked that the breakfast was included and when I say the breakfast was better than expected...it was great! Thought the individually wrapped avocado half's were a unique idea! I love avocado but, think when I travel...I'm going to pack me some scissors cause I could NOT for the life of me...get this plastic open so I could eat the avocado. Yes, next time I'm bring scissors & oh...Tanjin for their darn avocado. Overall, I do like this hotel and I strongly recommend this suite to stay if you're in town or looking for a 4 Star hotel.
