I don't even know how to put into words the impact Jaymie made on me, my pregnancy, and birth. She was there for me during my pregnancy ready and available to address my needs and supported me through the difficulties I faced during that time. When early labor started she was very easy to get in contact with and gave me tips and encouragement to rest and try to sleep. When Jaymie did join my labor she was very present, she has so much knowledge about ways to position the body to promote labor progress. I had struggled with severe back labor and she would massage my back through almost every contraction or place a heating pad on my back. Jaymie was a calm, encouraging and reassuring presence before and during my birth. This was my second birth and a planned VBAC. Because of this I was fearful of uterine rupture. Jaymie was knowledgeable and reassured me every step of the way that it was very rare. During my labor I had very irregular intense and close together contractions from the start, which wore on my moral and my belief that I would be able to birth my son unmedicated. Jaymie was there to encourage me to breathe and relax. She provided me with a lot of comfort not just emotionally but also physically, by encouraging me to move, doing hip squeezes and applying a TENS unit. After laboring at home/in the car for 6 hrs and 3 hrs at the hospital I successfully had an unmedicated VBAC. This was largely because of Jaymie's support and I do not believe I could have done it unmedicated without her support and encouragement. During my labor I had cervical lacerations that lead to a lot of blood loss that required me to go to the OR shortly after birth. Jaymie stayed at the hospital with my newborn son and husband to make sure my wishes for the baby were honored and to support my family while I was in surgery. I could not be more thankful for her. I had the privilege of booking my birth Doula services with Jaymie, for my second birth but first all natural drug free birth. I could not recommend Jaymie enough, I sincerely could not have done that without her by my side lending me her strength when I felt weak, her calm when I had none, and all the Doula knowledge she has for comforting and supporting during labour and birth. Her at home visits really helped connect with her so by the time we were in the birthing space ready to welcome my baby, I felt such an amazing close bond with her, that safety and caring was all I felt from her. She is a real angel, knowing exactly what I needed without be having to ask, or even know what that was myself at times. Her Doula kit has it all as well, anything I could've imagined, and it was all helpful! She was so patient too when explaining any and all aspects for labour and birth, what to expect and feel and she helped with hands on pain relieving techniques for my husband to know and feel confident in doing. She gave me a detailed break down and positions and things I would want to make sure to focus on in each stage of labour, and when the time was here she did it all even captured some of my favors pictures for me it was more than I could've ever imagined or asked for. Doulas are so instrumental, and important support but specially Jaymie she is on a level all to herself. Jaymie is amazing! We hired her pretty late in my pregnancy in my third trimester as i was realizing I might not be having the natural birth I was hoping for. I had a hospital birth and was under the care of a practice with both OBs and midwives. In my 3rd trimester they brought up the possibility of an induction, which would be dependent on my blood pressure. An induction was not what I wanted, but because I had chosen the hospital/medical model for my first birth, I accepted it once they said it was "necessary". The induction process took 3 days and it was so mentally challenging to keep going and trying for my vaginal birth I wanted so badly. Most of my birth plan basically went out the window, and Jaymie helped me roll with the punches and push forward. I don't think I would have made it through without her. Most of my nurses were amazing but my nurse during my delivery was pretty unhelpful so having Jaymie beside me to encourage, advise, and advocate for me was literally a life saver!
