As a pregnant woman, it is so important to have the right people with you who value your desires, will support your decisions and who will work with you to make sure you are heard and respected. I am so grateful that I hired Whitney as my doula for the birth of my third baby. My first baby was born at a hospital, the second at a birth center and I desired a home birth for my third. Then... the pandemic hit and I was so afraid I'd have to give birth without my support people and not where I wanted. Whitney...gosh what an AMAZING woman... she was critical in ensuring I got to give birth how I wanted, where I wanted and with my family present. I am, by no means, a wallflower or someone who gives in easily... but in the face of a pandemic I was being told by my care provider (not Whitney) that I "might" be allowed to give birth how I wanted to. Words like "that will probably be ok" and "we'll do our best to accommodate you" were used. When I shared with Whitney that I was so stressed that my wishes might "not be respected" and it probably "wouldn't be ok" and that my wishes might "not be accommodated" all while in labor, she was there for me. She is the one who listened to my concerns and heard all of the ways I intended to keep my care provider safe (total isolation leading up to birth, etc.) but still wasn't being guaranteed to have the birth I wanted. She spent so much time finding out who I am, what works for me, how I process things in stressful situations, how I like to be touched (something that was a major issue with my hospital birth) and how important it was that my daughter be present along with my husband. She gave me the strength to recognize I needed to stand up for myself, not be passive in this monumental life experience and get what I wanted because what I wanted was important and not remotely unreasonable. All that support and love all occurred before the first wave/contraction even happened. Leading up to the birth, she checked in with me constantly, which was so critical to my well-being, considering everyone was still on lockdown due to the pandemic and I didn't get to be around people, show off my bump, go shopping, celebrate, etc. She made me feel seen and important while we were all ordered to stay at home. I'll always appreciate that. We were texting one night (40w2d) and I was telling her I was soooo ready for the baby to come. She suggested I try moving my hips in figure 8's. I did one figure 8 and felt a pop! It was go time! She encouraged me, supported me, joked with me and kept me in such a positive headspace. When she arrived, we laughed a lot and she took care of me the way ALL laboring mamas should be treated. There was nothing but good energy, laughter, love, grace and kindness the whole time. When I had questions, she gave me confidence to look within myself to find the answers. When I began to have doubts, she helped me see that I needed to let myself go with the flow. I remember the beautiful words she used to help me visual our baby being welcomed into the world. And the most amazing part of all (as if all the preceding information wasn't amazing enough, right?) was how she treated my daughter. I wanted my daughter present if possible. Whitney gave my daughter specific tasks so my daughter felt an important part of the birth. Whitney treated my daughter like a true member of the birth team and took photos of us that made me cry when I saw them the next day. Whitney was also so great with my husband too. They had a great comradery through the whole process and it was so great that my husband had support and love too. Whitney was so supportive during transition and when I was pushing, I clearly heard her words encouraging me. I definitely felt the 'fight or flight moment', that 'between a rock and a hard place' moment, and her voice was so clear, calming and helpful to get me through that moment. The love she showered upon me, my daughter, my husband and our new baby was incredible. I'm so grateful. After my baby was born Whitney used all of her "magic tricks" to immediately slow down my brain so that I could bond with my sweet baby. And I haven't even touched on the aftercare, where she came to love on me and love on my baby! So if you're thinking about hiring a doula - please take the time to meet with Whitney - you'll know in your heart when you meet her that she's a wonderful human being, with a kind soul and destined for this type of work. I wish all mamas had the option to hire her and have that kind of love.

    our postpartum visit!

I can't say enough amazing things about Nurture Birth. I'm sure their entire team is great, but I got to work with Whitney, Lauren, and Rachelle who are angels on earth. They kept my partner and I grounded and steady through my entire pregnancy, long labor/birth, and postpartum. They are extremely responsive and on top of their communication (super impressive for how many mama's they care for). Whitney's wide knowledge of the hospitals and providers in this area is unmatched. She knew the answer to every question about my hospital and was able to walk me through the experience multiple times to calm my nerves surrounding delivering in a hospital. When the time came to have our baby, Lauren was there, on her feet, hands on all night while I labored. The environment she created in our hospital room felt as close to a home birth as it could have been- little tea candles, affirmation cards, calming music, and dimmed lights. She made suggestions to my partner and encouraged me through every phase of labor. I will never forget her calming presence rubbing my feet, whispering encouragement in my ear, and helping me breathe in essential oils while I was sick. She didn't rush out after baby was born, she took her time to make sure we were comfortable and breastfeeding was going okay even though she had been with us for 12+ hours. Rachelle was our dear IBCLC and walked with us through all phases of breastfeeding, exclusively pumping, and bottle feeding. She is so knowledgeable and passionate about breastfeeding, I always looked forward to her visits! She took her time, answered every question, and offered suggestions to help our feeding journey. I can't tell you the number of times I texted her on a Friday night or early morning and she got back to me with a lengthy text of support and encouragement. It really shows how much she cares about her clients! Whitney, Lauren, and Rachelle gave us confidence as first time parents and I can't imagine going through this experience without them. Grateful to say I didn't have to!

Whitney was an invaluable part of my birth team both during labor and in the months leading up to it. She was always available to address questions and concerns I had during pregnancy and has numerous resources and recommendations to help guide you through your journey. During labor her calm demeanor and gentle touch made the most difficult moments much more manageable. I felt so at ease having her by my side. Whitney is also a reiki master which is the perfect complement to her birth work. I loved my sessions with her during pregnancy and postpartum (my kids did too). I couldn't be happier with my decision to invite her into one of the most special and intimate parts of my life and wholeheartedly recommend her to join you in yours.

Lauren is using essential oils to help me with pain.

When I wanted to try for a VBAC, I kept coming across unsupportive providers. I reached out to several doulas but Whitney was the ONLY one who didn't make the conversation all about money. She heard me out and allowed me to vent, and showed mama support. She helped me find a supportive provider and introduced me to Lauren. I instantly knew that Whitney & Lauren were the doulas for me. This is the second time we've used a doula and my husband agrees it's been worth every single penny. Especially with this second birth where I went as long as I could without an epidural and really needed as much support as I could get. Due to covid the hospital only allowed one doula in, so Lauren was with me from the moment I arrived to the hospital through birth & postpartum. When my husband didn't know how to make me feel better, Lauren came to the save with essential oils, massaging techniques, breathing with me, etc. Please do yourself a favor and hire Nurture Birth, you will not regret it!

She edited this to make me look like I did not just give birth haha

My only regret about having Whitney join our birth team is that I couldn't do it sooner! I switched care providers at 37 weeks because my baby was breech and I wanted to avoid a c-section. I ended up delivering with Dr. Chan out of Long Beach Memorial because he has over 20 years of experience with breech babies. My first OB (that wanted to schedule a section at 39 weeks), delivered at a hospital that didn't allow doulas due to covid. Once I switched, Dr. Chan let me know that doulas were allowed, I reached out to my hypnobabies instructor for a referral. She had me contact Whitney, she said that she has amazingly calm energy and would be the best doula to help us. From the very first zoom meeting, I knew she would be the perfect addition to our birth team. I didn't have a doula with my first and it ended up being a very traumatic experience since he was premature. This time around I was VERY nervous about delivering a breech baby, even though its just a variation of normal, I was still apprehensive! Whitney came over for our first meeting, and I felt like I was talking to an old friend. She radiates warmth and is so genuine, you can't help but like her instantly. I felt so happy about our decision to have her come along this journey with us. The next week Whitney checked in via text regularly, just to see how I was doing. That was so appreciated, because since my son came at 34 weeks--I felt like a first timer! I did not lose my mucus plug (that I noticed-my water spontaneously broke), or experience prodomal labor with my first. I could ask her opinion on things instead of consulting Dr. Google. She sent me beautiful birth videos and encouraged me that I could do it! When my labor started, I wasn't even sure if it was the real thing...so I waited an hour or so to call Whitney. My labor escalated so quickly that I was nervous we wouldn't make it to the hospital in time, as we were waiting for my in-laws to show up to watch our son. Whitney met us at the hospital at 2AM, and immediately there was drama that she wasn't allowed to come due to covid. Even though she called twice that week to confirm it was 100% ok, the people on staff were giving us issues. Miraculously, Whitney somehow got the charge nurse to call her higher ups to navigate this situation. I was nervous because I heard the exchange and I needed her calming energy as my labor was intense! I was at a 7 when we arrived, and Whitney was there applying counter pressure which helped SO much! The hospital room was decorated beautifully with flameless candles and twinkling lights. The lights were dimmed and all of the nurses matched the energy Whitney brought. Just having a doula I think makes the nurses aware that they should ask about their "normal procedures" since clients who hire doulas are typically more natural minded. So that was really nice to have my birth preferences 100% respected (unlike my first baby). Whitney was there giving me positive affirmations, telling me that I was strong and encouraging me that I COULD do this! She also used my Hypnobabies cues perfectly, when I was tensing up--she would use the relax cue and my muscles would instantly go limp, it was crazy and helped so much during pushing. She also brought so much brevity to the birthing, there was laughter and moments that I will remember for the rest of my life. Like when my baby was half-way out, and my husband was trying to see what our surprise baby's gender was....but she was face down and too covered in vernix to be able to tell. Whitney asked my husband, "do we know dad?" and then let out a giggle as my husband looked quizzically at our baby like, "I have no idea". I told him not to tell me in case he guessed wrong! I felt 100% in control and had no fear this time around. Pushing was easier than with my first, only 15 minutes and she entered the world perfectly healthy and beautiful at 4:15AM. It was the most magical experience of my entire life having my baby GIRL put on my chest and spending those precious golden hours with her. Whitney captured the most beautiful photos and an amazing video of my baby being born. I will cherish these memories forever. She stayed for hours after making sure that everything was good post delivery. Did an essential oil massage to help with bleeding, and texted me all the next day to make sure my girl's blood sugars were good. She also came over a couple of weeks after for the post birth check-in, which was really nice. Honestly my birth was the most empowering, beautiful, intense thing I've ever experienced, and I'm so thankful Whitney was there to provide love and support.

Whitney & our sweet babe the week after she was born. We were so lucky to have her with us during our daughter's birth!!

I found Labor of Love by doing some of my own research online. And thank God I did! My doula,…read moreKaren, was my rock throughout my labor and was 100,000 percent amazing--I'll definitely be working with her for my second! A little backstory: I was overwhelmed and so nervous about finding "the one" person to be a part of the most important event of my life. After doing my research and reading through all these bios, I honestly was left feeling overwhelmed, especially knowing how indecisive I can be. I knew I just had to trust my intuition and my gut on this one! After looking at Karen's bio on their website, I had such a good feeling. Staci (the owner), who was super friendly and professional, helped me get connected with Karen, and I booked an interview right away! Karen was so sweet and asked me about my pregnancy experience so far. We discussed how I wanted my birth to go and any concerns I had. There wasn't any pressure to hire her, and it just felt like she was already invested in me, like I was already family. I even had her video chat with my husband to make sure we both felt comfortable and vibed well together--and we sure did! Overall, Karen ended up being the perfect balance of knowledge, experience, and professionalism. It was the most perfect amount of care I could have asked for. She was also such an advocate for my birth plan to work out. Before, during, and after my labor and birth, she was always naturally in tune with what I needed. She was never overbearing, worked so well with my husband, and gave him space to be a part of my support team as well. I am so grateful to have come across Labor of Love

My experience with Labor of Love was almost two years ago now but continues to upset me when thinking back on my experience. We hired Lauren as our doula, who made it clear she expected us to go far past my due date as a first time mom. While it's possible for that to happen, it didn't in my case. At 39 weeks and at 5am while in active labor and getting ready to head to the hospital, she let us know she had Covid. Her backup was Karen, who I wish we hired to begin with as she is far more caring and professional. Though unfortunately our experience still fell short and we ultimately delivered without Karen present. We were left feeling like we invested a lot of emotion and money into this process with ultimately no help. Staci has been incredibly rude to us since then and even revoked our access to watch her training videos, sending me a link to pay her once again when wanting to rewatch for our now second baby on the way. Karen herself even recommended we ask for a partial refund due to our experience, but Staci lacks the professionalism and courtesy to her clients. Truly mindblowing that she revoked access to the training videos after we had already paid for them. I would stay far away and recommend a more experienced and caring doula group.

Danielle seems really sweet, but I truly wish we just got more out of our experience with her. Similar to what another posting had mentioned... I had really high hopes and was super excited to work with Danielle after the initial consultation. I had only booked 2 weeks of coaching which was $400. The services guide that was given to me says 24/7 support via phone, text, or email. I understand not responding to 4 AM texts but there were days that went by where I wouldn't hear a peep from Danielle. She pretty much ghosted us after week one. About 2 weeks after the initial two week contract, I received a phone call from Danielle apologizing, which I appreciated; however, I would've preferred upfront communication instead of feeling like I got scammed out of $400. She did offer to get my daughter in a good place for sleeping to make up for the fact that she was not really reachable during the two week contract but here we are again... a month and a half later and I haven't heard anything from her. No follow up or "how's your daughter doing with her sleep?" I've almost given up at this point because I still have a daughter who struggles with bedtime and still wakes at night, despite our best efforts and I'm out $400. Maybe she would be better when she's in person but I feel like the coaching package was a waste of money.

Cannot recommend Bree or Breezy Doula enough!…read more We're due in September and have already had so many great experiences with Breezy Doula. We first learned about them at a Memorialcare Saddleback open house. We were not at all familiar with doula care and at first didn't understand, but now we cannot imagine giving birth without a doula (specifically one from Breezy Doula!). Upon reaching out, we filled out their online form then received such a warm, quick and thorough response from the doula director, Sarah. She gave us a list of doulas within their group that matched our preferences and budget. We ended up meeting with two amazing doulas and didn't need to interview more. It was such a tough decision as both doulas were super warm, responsive, knowledgeable, and experienced. We decided to move forward with Carla and picked the grand package! See the attached pic for the package offerings, I removed the pricing as it varies per doula and prices may have changed since I last received this. We've taken the spinning babies (1 day) and hypnobirthing classes (wednesdays for 5 weeks straight) with Bree in Laguna Hills. Such a great experience! We've learned SOO much. Bree is so passionate about birth and motherhood. She keeps the content easy to digest and informative, but is also very patient with the many questions we had. Also another point for all the yummy snacks she provides! I also really love how she brings in guest speakers (baby & maternity chiropractor, IBCLC, acupuncturist, etc.) So excited to give birth! The classes have really helped me feel prepared, debunked the common misconceptions around childbirth, and have removed the fear brought by unrealistic situations shown in movies or on TV. Long review short: if you are considering hiring Cindy, you should do it…read more Long review medium: a good friend of mine used Cindy with her kids and recommended her highly. We interviewed her amongst other Postpartum Doulas and we decided to go with a duo team because we thought it would be more reliable if one was unable to make it. Oh boy, we were wrong. That duo ended up being very unreliable despite being two people. It was especially difficult being Postpartum. We were suddenly stuck without any help and just feeling really scared and frustrated. We turned to Cindy, not knowing if she was available or if she would consider working with us. Cindy was already in a new contract (which I'm not surprised by at all). But she welcomed with us with open arms and came by that very night because she had a night off just to help us when we were at our wits end. She offered us any nights she could due to her other contract and has continued to be a source for us in times of need. She is extremely reliable and will always show up when she says (I assume absent a real need) and, for a postpartum mother and father, this is necessary and reassuring. Cindy comes over and immediately takes care of your baby, the most precious thing in the world to you. She actually allows you to get some sleep even if you're breastfeeding and have to get up every few hours. She has tons of expertise and knowledge to help guide you if you want it. On top of it, she made a red date and Goji berry tea and the most amazing Lactation breakfast bars (I woke up to the best smell of delicious baked goods). She folded laundry without being asked and it included some of our stuff, going above and beyond just taking care of the baby. She has provided our family with information and solace as well as a shoulder to lean on with any questions or thoughts. My partner absolutely adores her, as do I. I don't give out five stars lightly, but Cindy is more than deserving.

We hired Cindy as our postpartum doula, and it was the best decision…read more When we first brought the baby home, it felt overwhelming. But having Cindy help us with the baby brought us such calmness. She has such a wealth of knowledge and is so loving and sweet. And not only does she help with the baby, she helped my wife with her recovery as well! If you are at all considering a doula, you can't do any better than Cindy.

We also took her hypnobirthing course to prepare ourselves for birth and found the content very helpful. During the birth process Tiffany was so supportive, calm and reassuring which is exactly what I wanted for my labor. From the first call I had with her, her calming and compassionate energy immediately felt so good to me and I knew I wanted her along my pregnancy journey as my doula. She recommended taking her hypnobirthing class and I am SO happy I did. I learned so much about how beautiful and natural birth and labor can be. I truly had no idea it was even possible to approach birth like this. I ended up having to be induced early and Tiffany was a great support before she even arrived to the hospital, reassuring my partner and I and keeping us calm. As soon as she got there, I immediately felt more calm and ready to go through all the phases of labor. I ended up laboring unmedicated and I truly could NOT have done it without her support and guidance on how to breathe through different sensations. I'm so proud of myself for doing it and she made me believe I really could do it. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else there to witness the birth of my baby. She even took beautiful photos of my partner and I the moment our baby arrived that I will cherish forever. I could go on and on praising her- but overall I would recommend her to literally anyone- she is heaven sent

She supported me to overcome my fears about giving birth and trusting the medical staff. She provided a lot of information and resources. Although we had a c-section and Angela was not allowed to be physically in the OR, she prepared us well enough to go in with confidence that all would go well. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy this past January. It was a beautiful experience. If you cannot afford her doula services, I highly recommend her hypno birthing class. It prepared my fiance and I on the birthing process. Classes were via zoom which was great for us since we got to learn from the comfort of our home. I am grateful for this beautiful soul. She was already booked at the time (I needed an immediate replacement), but she spent that evening calling colleagues in her network that may be available to assist me. She spent a few hours doing this, reaching out to different people and coordinating a replacement for me. She did this all at no benefit to herself. That spoke volumes to me. When I was in need she stepped in to help me and made herself available to me with any questions or advice I needed. She is such a professional and a true expert in her field. I will 100% be reaching out to her as we grow our family for overnight support.
