Cannot recommend Bree or Breezy Doula enough! We're due in September and have already had so many great experiences with Breezy Doula. We first learned about them at a Memorialcare Saddleback open house. We were not at all familiar with doula care and at first didn't understand, but now we cannot imagine giving birth without a doula (specifically one from Breezy Doula!). Upon reaching out, we filled out their online form then received such a warm, quick and thorough response from the doula director, Sarah. She gave us a list of doulas within their group that matched our preferences and budget. We ended up meeting with two amazing doulas and didn't need to interview more. It was such a tough decision as both doulas were super warm, responsive, knowledgeable, and experienced. We decided to move forward with Carla and picked the grand package! We've taken the spinning babies (1 day) and hypnobirthing classes (wednesdays for 5 weeks straight) with Bree in Laguna Hills. Such a great experience! We've learned SOO much. Updating this review to say I actually went forward with hiring a doula after attending the Hypnobirthing classes. I went with Lucy who ended up being the perfect fit for our family. As this was our first born child, I was looking for someone who would be the best advocate for our wishes as well as someone who would be the other person in the room in this very special time. Lucy was both professionally exactly what we needed and personally just such a joy to have around. For some context, both my husband and I work in tech and appreciate data and evidence to make decisions. We also are fairly utilitarian but birth like pregnancy (and many other things in life!) can be very emotional and unpredictable! I wasn't particularly attached to having an unmedicated vaginal birth, but my research deemed it to be the best (read: least cons for me, all paths to birth have something). I was open to pivoting if needed. We met with Lucy twice in-person to discuss our birth plan. She was incredibly responsive through text throughout my entire pregnancy. She was proactively checking in and answered my many questions, no matter how small. I also particularly loved how Lucy educated my husband on many items. Being pregnant my mind was constantly on the pregnancy, the baby and the changes in our future and Lucy was a great resource for my husband to learn from. Our son ended up coming a whole month early and I had severe pre-eclampsia (which has serious complications for the mother (seizures/eclampsia, stroke) and baby (preterm birth, low birth weight)). Needless to say, everything moved fast and what I thought would just be a blood pressure check ended up being 7 days in the hospital with a lot of decisions. The pivot mentioned above was needed at many turns through that week. Lucy was THE needed soundboard for all the thinking my husband and I had to do throughout that truly harrowing time. I ended up needing to have a c-section but felt good about the path and final decision to go that route. I am really grateful for that because I know that's not the case for many moms. Lucy presented all the necessary information in an objective way and at no point pushed anything on us. The hospital environment can feel like a pressure cooker and Lucy never added to the stress. She also was great at asking questions to our providers, identifying gaps in explanations or giving us context in real time. We're all healthy and good on the other end now and I have Lucy to thank for even getting us to go the hospital that first night I had had the high blood pressure signal. (I was in denial and didn't want to go! She also firmly instructed us to go to the hospital with more NICU resources which I wouldn't have thought to do had we not hired her.) She continues to be a helpful resource in postpartum and has only had my best interests in mind and at heart. As a new mom, navigating this transition with a supportive, knowledgeable, and deeply empathetic human being has been amazing. She has also opened up her network and resources - through Lucy I have a lactation consultant I ADORE, as well as last-minute hired someone to encapsulate my placenta. Each doula relationship is particular to the parents and their needs, but I deeply endorse working with Lucy. Wasn't sure I needed a doula however finally made the decision at 39 weeks to reach out and got in touch with Valerie. She was so responsive and immediately reached out for a call. We spoke and soon after decided to proceed. I ended up going into labor that morning and she was right there with updates, phone calls, texts. She ended up coming to the hospital and immediately set up the room and began to assist. This was an attempt for an unmedicated vaginal delivery after 2 previous csections. There was a lot of obstacles! At the end I couldn't be more happy with her. She was so sweet and helpful. Definitely pushed me through moments I thought I wasn't able to over come. I started my search for a doula towards the end of my second trimester and since I wanted an unmedicated birth, I realized it was important for me to get support through the birth process. I was also taking Hypnobirthing classes and wanted a doula with Hypnobirthing experience. I talked to a few places and either the doulas weren't available or they were way out of my budget. I was glad that I found The Breezy Doula, they were quickly able to link me up with Valerie. I knew I liked her as soon as our initial conversation ended. The packages they offered were reasonable and the booking process was smooth. I actually wasn't able to meet Valerie in person before my baby came, our initial meeting was supposed to be the following week. I texted Valerie in the morning after my mucus plug came out and as I was trying to figure out the labor. She provided support through text and monitored my contractions. We decided to meet in the hospital as they got stronger and closer together and by the time Valerie came I was in L&D and in the zone. She got right to massaging my lower back because I was feeling a lot of tightness there. She advocated for me according to my birth plan and tagged team with my husband to move me into different positions and giving me massages that were so helpful. She brought battery powered candles to decorate the room which was nice. I felt very supported through the process by her care and was able to go through it unmedicated. I had the absolute blessing of working with Lina and Ezrae for the birth of my son, and I truly couldn't have asked for a better team. I attended a free monthly pregnancy education/support group with The Breezy Doula in partnership with The Mommy Center. After those workshops and reading about the benefits of having a birth doula, I knew that I wanted to have someone as a part of my birth team. She was available via text throughout the rest of my pregnancy, we had a lengthy (nearly two hour!) meeting to discuss my birth plan, and then she was obviously with us in the delivery room for the birth of my baby. To say Lina was helpful would be the understatement of the century. I ended up getting an epidural, but we had several complications come up during delivery that Lina was able to coach me through. In fact, I am absolutely certain that I would have needed to have a C section if I didn't have a birth doula in the delivery room with me. I have a couple friends who are pregnant and my biggest piece of advice to them is always HIRE A DOULA! It was the best money I've ever spent and is well worth the cost. We were incredibly fortunate to work with both Carly and Lauren, who provided overnight postpartum care for our family for several months after our baby was born. We hired a doula through Breezy Doula and our experience was amazing! We used Amanda Matthews from Canyon Lake since we live out that way and she was amazing! Cannot say enough positive things about Amanda! We didn't decide we wanted a doula until around 26 weeks. From our first meeting, i knew Amanda was going to be the perfect fit for us. She is kind, gentle, and knows so much about the female body and how to get baby in the best position. She gave me stretches to do throughout my pregnancy, in labor she helped get baby in optimal position because our little girl was transverse, and she coached me through pushing our girl out.
