Going with Breezy Doula was my favorite decision during pregnancy! Wanted to update my previous review, post delivery. Long story short, I labored at home starting at 6am, got to triage at 1pm (5cm dilated 80% effaced), got to our room at 2pm, and our baby was here by 4:08pm! Because I was SO SO terrified of the epidural needle, catheter, and the whole epidural process, my birth preference from the first trimester was to not get it. Truly believe this was not possible without all the skills and tips I learned from Bree's Hypnobirthing course, Spinning Babies course, partner support or support from my doula, Carla. For months, my husband and I religiously listened to the Hypnobirthing tracks at bedtime and did the readings provided randomly throughout the day. We really learned it is not about pain tolerance but mostly mental prep. We really loved how we were able to communicate with her as soon as we booked. She would regularly check in on us and send us links to free events / classes and other resources. From our very first phone call, I knew Lindzee and I would get along and work well together. When I went into labor, Lindzee came to our home and stayed through the night, helping me progress and supporting me through every stage. Once we went to the hospital, her guidance, encouragement, and gentle push helped me keep going, especially when we worked together to help get my daughter into the right position. Although my labor ultimately did not go the way I had hoped or expected, Lindzee was there every step of the way with love, support, reassurance, and comfort. Updating this review to say I actually went forward with hiring a doula after attending the Hypnobirthing classes. I went with Lucy who ended up being the perfect fit for our family. As this was our first born child, I was looking for someone who would be the best advocate for our wishes as well as someone who would be the other person in the room in this very special time. Lucy was both professionally exactly what we needed and personally just such a joy to have around. For some context, both my husband and I work in tech and appreciate data and evidence to make decisions. We also are fairly utilitarian but birth like pregnancy (and many other things in life!) can be very emotional and unpredictable! I wasn't particularly attached to having an unmedicated vaginal birth, but my research deemed it to be the best (read: least cons for me, all paths to birth have something). I was open to pivoting if needed. We met with Lucy twice in-person to discuss our birth plan. She was incredibly responsive through text throughout my entire pregnancy. She was proactively checking in and answered my many questions, no matter how small. I also particularly loved how Lucy educated my husband on many items. Being pregnant my mind was constantly on the pregnancy, the baby and the changes in our future and Lucy was a great resource for my husband to learn from. Our son ended up coming a whole month early and I had severe pre-eclampsia (which has serious complications for the mother (seizures/eclampsia, stroke) and baby (preterm birth, low birth weight)). Needless to say, everything moved fast and what I thought would just be a blood pressure check ended up being 7 days in the hospital with a lot of decisions. The pivot mentioned above was needed at many turns through that week. Lucy was THE needed soundboard for all the thinking my husband and I had to do throughout that truly harrowing time. I ended up needing to have a c-section but felt good about the path and final decision to go that route. I am really grateful for that because I know that's not the case for many moms. Lucy presented all the necessary information in an objective way and at no point pushed anything on us. The hospital environment can feel like a pressure cooker and Lucy never added to the stress. She also was great at asking questions to our providers, identifying gaps in explanations or giving us context in real time. We're all healthy and good on the other end now and I have Lucy to thank for even getting us to go the hospital that first night I had had the high blood pressure signal. (I was in denial and didn't want to go! She also firmly instructed us to go to the hospital with more NICU resources which I wouldn't have thought to do had we not hired her.) She continues to be a helpful resource in postpartum and has only had my best interests in mind and at heart. As a new mom, navigating this transition with a supportive, knowledgeable, and deeply empathetic human being has been amazing. She has also opened up her network and resources - through Lucy I have a lactation consultant I ADORE, as well as last-minute hired someone to encapsulate my placenta. Each doula relationship is particular to the parents and their needs, but I deeply endorse working with Lucy. We are so incredibly grateful to have had Valerie as our day-of doula for the birth of our baby. From our pre-labor visit through labor, delivery, and postpartum, she was supportive, attentive, and truly went above and beyond. Our pre-labor visit was so helpful. This review is long overdue, as my baby is already turning 7 months! As a first-time mom, I am so, so thankful that I had Ezrae as my doula. She was one of the best decisions we made for our birth. From our very first prenatal appointment, she was so easy to talk to. My biggest goals were to avoid an epidural and Pitocin if they weren't medically necessary, and she completely respected and supported those wishes. Our prenatal visits were incredibly thorough. This was my first pregnancy & I my husband felt more safe me giving birth at a hospital, so as a compromise I agreed but having a doula was my requirement if I was going to give birth there. While we covered a lot of important information, some sessions were more presentation-heavy, so integrating more interactive work each week would have strengthened the learning even more. We also have a suggestion regarding the structure of breaks. For each class, there is one 10-minute break halfway through class. Since the content can be dense and information-rich, shorter but more frequent breaks, like a 5-minute break every 30 minutes, would help with focus, energy, and overall retention. Overall, we're grateful for the experience and everything we learned, and we're looking forward to putting these tools into practice. I'm especially appreciative that this class helped my husband feel more confident going into our labor and encouraged meaningful conversations between us, ensuring we're fully aligned as my due time approaches. I can't say enough good things about Lindzee at Breezy Doula! I hired her through Breezy Doula as a postpartum doula after I had a bad experience with my birth doula (from another website) who never even followed up for my postpartum care. Lindzee was like a little fairy doula. Every time I turned around my water cup was refilled or something was done I didn't even think to ask her to do. It was amazing. She did day and night shifts in the first month. She was extremely helpful. I even used her again for one night when my daughter was 5 months old and went through a sleep regression. I had the absolute blessing of working with Lina and Ezrae for the birth of my son, and I truly couldn't have asked for a better team. From the very beginning, Lina was warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. After we initially signed on with her, she guided us through our entire birth plan with so much care, explaining procedures, helping us clarify our goals, and making sure we felt empowered every step of the way. She regularly checked in with me in the weeks leading up to labor, recommended exercises to prepare for birth, and was always available day or night for any questions or concerns I had. When I went into labor, Lina stayed in constant contact with my husband and met us at the hospital shortly after we arrived. She was everything my husband and I needed. Through example, she gently coached my husband on how to be fully involved, and together they tag-teamed supporting me through every contraction. Unfortunately, I had an incredibly long labor (60 hours!!), but one of the biggest blessings of working with Breezy Doula was having access to their extensive support network. Lina was able to call in backup, and that's when Ezrae joined us on short notice. She jumped in seamlessly, helping Lina and my husband as I slowly progressed toward 10 cm. Ezrae was amazing: she kept me calm, helped me shift into different positions, and made sure I felt cared for throughout. As a bonus, she gives great massages!! Lina and Ezrae worked in perfect sync with the Mission Hospital L&D nurses. I truly had the dream team. When it came time for the big moment, they were all there (Lina, Ezrae, my husband, and the nurses) coaching me through the most surreal, powerful experience of my life. One of the most unforgettable touches was in thanks to Ezrae, who upon my request played our first dance song, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," as our baby boy entered the world. I still get chills thinking about it!!! Despite every hurdle and challenge during labor, Lina and Ezrae made my birth experience calm, joyful, and even fun!!! Their presence allowed my husband to focus completely on me and our baby, while they handled the rest. Their care and dedication meant the world to us. I'll absolutely be calling Lina and Ezrae again for my next birth. I highly recommend securing doula support to enhance your birthing experience! You'll want these incredible women by your side!!! A few other notes - the hypnobirthing class, taught by Bree, is amazing! It brought a sense of calm and peace to my life overall, not just the birth. I connected with the Breezy Doula and had a fantastic experience. They connected me with a few doulas and I got to interview them - all of them were incredible, but I chose Katarina in the end. The entire experience was seamless. Katarina was an absolute answer to my prayers! She is not only kind and extremely knowledgeable, but she was more than willing to answer all my questions, provide information on things I was uncertain about, and fully support me in my plan for a hospital birth with an epidural. During labor, her quick thinking allowed me to avoid an emergency c-section (yes, she knew the exact position to put me into to stop my baby's heart rate from decelerating) and she was a calm presence throughout the entire time. She worked beautifully with the nurses and guided me expertly through pushing (I pushed for 30-45 minutes and barely tore). Wasn't sure I needed a doula however finally made the decision at 39 weeks to reach out and got in touch with Valerie. She was so responsive and immediately reached out for a call. We spoke and soon after decided to proceed. I ended up going into labor that morning and she was right there with updates, phone calls, texts. She ended up coming to the hospital and immediately set up the room and began to assist. This was an attempt for an unmedicated vaginal delivery after 2 previous csections. There was a lot of obstacles! At the end I couldn't be more happy with her. She was so sweet and helpful. Definitely pushed me through moments I thought I wasn't able to over come. I attended a free monthly pregnancy education/support group with The Breezy Doula in partnership with The Mommy Center. After those workshops and reading about the benefits of having a birth doula, I knew that I wanted to have someone as a part of my birth team. After filling out an inquiry form online, I ended up doing a virtual Zoom/FaceTime video with two doulas to see if I could find someone who was a good fit. We really hit things off with Lina and decided that we wanted her to be a part of our birth team. I am SO thankful that we did! She was available via text throughout the rest of my pregnancy, we had a lengthy (nearly two hour!) meeting to discuss my birth plan, and then she was obviously with us in the delivery room for the birth of my baby. To say Lina was helpful would be the understatement of the century. I ended up getting an epidural, but we had several complications come up during delivery that Lina was able to coach me through. In fact, I am absolutely certain that I would have needed to have a C section if I didn't have a birth doula in the delivery room with me. I have a couple friends who are pregnant and my biggest piece of advice to them is always HIRE A DOULA! It was the best money I've ever spent and is well worth the cost. We truly cannot say enough wonderful things about our postpartum doula experience with Carly. After interviewing a few other doulas, we chose her--and it was one of the best decisions. From the very beginning, her energy was warm, calming, and exactly what I needed in those early weeks. Carly went above and beyond in ways that meant more than I can put into words. If she saw something that needed to be done, she simply did it--baby laundry, dishes in the sink (even the non-baby ones!), refilling my water, washing my Haakaa between feeds, freezing my silverettes, making tea, the list goes on! Every morning after she was there, I woke up feeling completely set up for success. It was the most incredible feeling during such a tender season. I was exclusively breastfeeding, and while things were generally smooth, having Carly as a sounding board whenever I had a question or moment of doubt was invaluable. When I was stressed about my supply, she even made me lactation muffins. That kind of care and thoughtfulness is just who she is. Each night she gave us a full update on how our son did--how many diapers, whether he was gassy, how long he slept. That communication gave me SUCH peace of mind. I could hand him to her at the start of the night and truly rest without worry until it was time to nurse. On the nights she was there I was able to get actual restful and longer stretchs of sleep--something that felt life-changing in those early weeks. Honestly, the best nights of those first six weeks were the nights Carly was there. I would count down the hours until she arrived, and our son went to her so comfortably. She became such an important part of our postpartum experience. My only regret is that we only booked her for six weeks! When I was looking for a doula it seemed pretty late in my pregnancy as I was in my third trimester. I think I was around 30 weeks. I thought there was no way a doula would be available, but thankfully I was able to meet with some doulas and interview them. The Breezy Doula is great for having so many doulas on their team. I chose to go with Julie and Carly. You can never have too much support right? Haha I'm glad I did as I went into labor 2 weeks early. Carly was available and ready to come assist my husband and I during my labor and delivery.
