Carmen, who helped lead the group, is amazing. She is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and always makes me feel heard. She gives thoughtful advice and truly cares about the moms and babies she works with. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does. I've also attended several music classes with Michelle, and those have been some of my favorites. Long story short, I labored at home starting at 6am, got to triage at 1pm (5cm dilated 80% effaced), got to our room at 2pm, and our baby was here by 4:08pm! Because I was SO SO terrified of the epidural needle, catheter, and the whole epidural process, my birth preference from the first trimester was to not get it. Truly believe this was not possible without all the skills and tips I learned from Bree's Hypnobirthing course, Spinning Babies course, partner support or support from my doula, Carla. For months, my husband and I religiously listened to the Hypnobirthing tracks at bedtime and did the readings provided randomly throughout the day. We really learned it is not about pain tolerance but mostly mental prep. During early labor, the poses we learned during our Spinning Babies class really helped! -- Carla (birth doula): Exactly the energy, support and vibe we were going for! We really loved how we were able to communicate with her as soon as we booked. She would regularly check in on us and send us links to free events / classes and other resources. Carla was always SO warm, responsive, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend including her in your doula interview process :) Kalista (placenta encapsulation): We had so many questions about the whole process, Kalista was very patient and great at explaining everything in a way that was easy to understand! We received our kit prior to birth without any issues. Post birth, we loved the care, info, and packaging! From our very first phone call, I knew Lindzee and I would get along and work well together…read more When I went into labor, Lindzee came to our home and stayed through the night, helping me progress and supporting me through every stage. Once we went to the hospital, her guidance, encouragement, and gentle push helped me keep going, especially when we worked together to help get my daughter into the right position. Although my labor ultimately did not go the way I had hoped or expected, Lindzee was there every step of the way with love, support, reassurance, and comfort. She helped me feel heard and cared for during some of the hardest moments of my birth experience. One of my favorite memories that I still think about is when I needed a distraction during my long labor, and Lindzee and I ended up playing Tapple while my mom watched us. It was such a simple moment, but it perfectly captures the kind of support she gave me, helping me through the difficult moments while also making me laugh and feel like myself. We bonded throughout my long labor, and I feel incredibly lucky that I gained not only an amazing doula but also a friend through this experience. I will always be grateful for Lindzee and the role she played in bringing my daughter into the world. I truly cannot recommend her enough.

Because of the pandemic, Meredith gave us options to come in-person or attend the class virtually, and my wife and I felt comfortable enough to do a hybrid of the two. Meredith was very Covid-conscious and always made us feel safe. After looking up different birthing methods, we thought the best one that suited us was the Bradley Method course. We learned so much from it -- we know so many people who go into giving birth with zero knowledge and even though it's scary, we still felt so prepared. We learned about childbirth itself of course, but also patient advocacy, postpartum care, etc. The best part is that Meredith was still available as a resource and pillar of support when we needed it -- even to this day when our son is 14 months old! I gave birth at a birth center with a midwife but felt wholly prepared if I had to be transferred to a hospital. When it's my wife's turn to carry, we'll be retaking the course so that I can take on the role of the coach like my wife did for me.

She was by my side this whole time, her energy, her words gave me the confidence I needed. We learned how birth is physiological, how to be fully present in your birth, how to prepare well and take control come the day of your labor and delivery, how to work with your contractions, maternal instinctual movements and positions with your body during L/D, prepped my husband in how to be there for me during pregnancy/L/D, informed medical decisions, diet, anatomy, and so much more. A wealth of information, but also felt like such a safe and encouraging space. I believe this class helped prep us to have the birth space we wanted, which was also filled with peace, power, beauty, love, support, and knowledge. Also, Lea Burke at the Long Beach location was very sweet, encouraging, educated, worked with us when I got put on bedrest by the second class, and even maintained communication with us post class and post birth. A little backstory: I was overwhelmed and so nervous about finding "the one" person to be a part of the most important event of my life. After doing my research and reading through all these bios, I honestly was left feeling overwhelmed, especially knowing how indecisive I can be. I knew I just had to trust my intuition and my gut on this one! After looking at Karen's bio on their website, I had such a good feeling. Staci (the owner), who was super friendly and professional, helped me get connected with Karen, and I booked an interview right away! Karen was so sweet and asked me about my pregnancy experience so far. We discussed how I wanted my birth to go and any concerns I had. There wasn't any pressure to hire her, and it just felt like she was already invested in me, like I was already family. I even had her video chat with my husband to make sure we both felt comfortable and vibed well together--and we sure did! Overall, Karen ended up being the perfect balance of knowledge, experience, and professionalism. It was the most perfect amount of care I could have asked for. My experience with Labor of Love was almost two years ago now but continues to upset me when thinking back on my experience. We hired Lauren as our doula, who made it clear she expected us to go far past my due date as a first time mom. While it's possible for that to happen, it didn't in my case. At 39 weeks and at 5am while in active labor and getting ready to head to the hospital, she let us know she had Covid. Her backup was Karen, who I wish we hired to begin with as she is far more caring and professional. Though unfortunately our experience still fell short and we ultimately delivered without Karen present. We were left feeling like we invested a lot of emotion and money into this process with ultimately no help. Staci has been incredibly rude to us since then and even revoked our access to watch her training videos, sending me a link to pay her once again when wanting to rewatch for our now second baby on the way. Karen herself even recommended we ask for a partial refund due to our experience, but Staci lacks the professionalism and courtesy to her clients. Truly mindblowing that she revoked access to the training videos after we had already paid for them. I would stay far away and recommend a more experienced and caring doula group.

My kids just finished their spring break camp here and they had a blast learning about coding and…read morerobotics! It was very cool that we get their progress emailed to us each day with pictures of the projects they are working on. My son even programmed a video game that he gets to download to play at home. The lab is very clean and organized. Mr. Z and the rest of the instructors were kind, friendly and engaging! This place definitely sparked something in my kids for the world of coding and robotics.
